Hi
We have to postpone the walk in feb/2006 .Because of the CNY the response is not sufficient. Another time another day.
Happy Chinese New Year
What I am looking for in the SilverHairClub is to join in the activities which I am interested and mix around with people.
My interest is very wide like karaoka singing, outing, healthy living, investing in share, indoor plants, travelling, sight seeing, dancing, etc.
1. Feb gathering - We had skipped January because of CNY preparations. Feb will be a standing "no sitting" event. Located near MPH, Robinson Road, between Raffles MRT and Tanjong Pagar MRT. Date: Thurs Feb 9, 2006. 1830 - 2000 hrs. Please let us know if you will come, and we will send you an invitation card with details via email. Patrick Yeo is the event organiser.
2. Dec 2005 gathering - Photos of the event can be seen here
http://www.silverhairsclub.com/SHC/SHC051230/3. SHC Games day (previously called Olympics) - please note in your diary Sunday, Sept 17, 2006. 0830 - 1200 hrs. Event organiser - Patrick Yeo. Plse meet with Patrick at the Feb gathering.
The Games day will have Scrabbles, Mahjong, Monopoly, Walking and bowling. As we are new to organising Silverhairs activities, the vigorous games eg swimming, cycling, court and lawn games and running have not been included. Location: Beach resort in Changi.
4. SHC Talent-Time (previously called Talentime). Date: Sat, Nov 25, 2006. 1800 - 2100 hrs. Please note in diary. Event organiser - Elsie Ho.
The talents selected to reflect the name of the activity are dancing, singing, cooking and music instruments. Please update yourself wioth Elsie.
5. Short term living overseas. Event organiser Vincent Khoo is organsing a "no-frill" trip to Chonburi (1.5 hrs outside Bangkok) from 21 - 27 Mar. The objective is to show how one can stretch the dollar during retirement.
To participate, please email to Terence, as Vincent does not have an email address.
6. Business ventures - some members have business ideas, and would like to share with you. Instead of wasting their knowledge and experience accummulated during their working careers, some members want to pool together their experience and knowledge together, instead of taking up lesser skilled jobs after retirement.
To start, please email a one-paragraph of the business idea to Terence, and we will organise a "business ventures" group to help ourselves. Strictly, no MLM and no direct selling of insurances, time-sharing, health products and services.
7. Register yourself at SilverHairsClub.com. Write a profile about yourself and your interests. And meet other over-45s. Realname required.

Hi Ladies/Gentlemen
New boys in the Club
I am new to this club and it seems that all of you are enjoying urself looking at all the posting in here.
Would like to wish all members of Silverhairs a Happy and Preperous Y2006 most of all stay healthy and happy.
With my pretty tight schedule I really hope to talk and meet up with all of you one day.
All the best for now and regards
Okay you see I have retired for quite sometimes and would like to consider doing some charity work, just that, I don’t where to start with. Besides, as I have to watch the share market all these years with my hard earned money invested there, that leaves not much
choice to stay home to monitor the share market.
Infact my family is very supportive for me to do charity work as my husband and our children are all working. I love children and would prefer to spend time with babies or small children in welfare homes. If it is possible for you to make arrangement for me
to spend half a day with the welfare children. I do drive and it will not be much a problem when transport is concerned, however, I am very poor with road direction as I am often driven by my husband.
Actually, my main interest in joining the SHC is to make more friends and at the same time, maybe some of the SHC members could assist me in a getting a job since quitting my job on April 2005 due to an injury to my knee. Nothing to feel shame of - looking for a job. Or maybe Mr Terence or any of the members could assist. Staying at home do nothing is a waste of real time and life. Though, I am 58 and believe that I still have the required energy for job purposes as I am that type of person that never say "die".
In real terms, I have very few friends as all along, during my working life is work and study part-time whenever time permits as I do not really have the time to mix around.
Something about myself, well I was to "retired" from service Dec 2005 after reaching 62, compulsory retirement. But our management was kind enough to offer me a post retirement employment on a yearly contract basis. Partly due to the need to continue having an income, I agreed to continue working.Hence, I could not have time to be actively involved at the present time with the SHC.
What am I looking for ? Basically, I am an outgoing person who enjoys the company of friends & colleagues - be it just sitting around talking, sharing and having a drink or social outing or even for walks or jogging. I also like to socialised in group gatherings & travelling.
I sincerly hoped I ccan meet up with the SHC members including yourself in February 2006 if the meeting can be after the 6th of Feb. (I will in China from 27/1-5/2/06).
I like to travel. I like to see new things, experience new things, stuffs. I like photography, the sceneries from abroad. last year planned to go lebanon but with the bombing in egypt, they cancelled my trip. was planning to go there on my own, just like my trip to dubai, turkey, etc. I am used to travelling alone but it can be quite expensive in terms of costs. would be nice to have someone who likes travelling and doing things at own pace.
some of things Im doing now is yoga, bollywood dance, belly dance. I started with True yoga since sept 2005. I like singing and listen to people sing (of course those who sound pleasant). I love music, good movies. would like to communicate and exchange views. like chatting with interesting people. people must be opened, talk about just anything but maintaining taste. sharing interests means you would get to know people as well. sometimes, i think about doing work with rehab centres….eg drugs rehab, etc.
I read up on psychology, websites for OCD patients, etc. I wish to be able to help and counsel those in need. I had a friend who suffers from OCD and I had to "teach" him how to cope or overcome his obsessions whenever he had a relapse. basically, I want to be able to help someone (not in monetary) who be happy or to lead a normal life. It is not easy to do it alone at times.
as you can see, my interests varied. simple thing like taking a walk along the beach at nite with the sea breeze and air could be a good relaxing private moment for me too. would love to retire somewhere but not spore. don’t mind working elsewhere too. gets too boring and routine staying in spore.
interests must not be routine too. just like novelty dies off after a while. new ideas and things has to be created. would love to learn more about multi media stuffs like creating websites, web designs, etc. life is about revolving around different environment, conditions, etc. it’s an on-going learning process.
Actually I’m a recently retired school principal and am just enjoying unwinding. I guess making new friends, who have interests like dancing, travelling, even just meeting to chit chat are what I think SHC should be
about and not so much about food as I’m quite concerned about eating healthily. Won’t be able to make it this Feb 13 as I’m going Down Under until May. Hope to meet up with SHCs later in the year.
I like to sing Karaoke - Cantonese, Mandarin & Hokkien Songs. Would like to join or form a Karaoke group. I also Like to dance - Social Danves like Cha Cha, Disco Rock & Rock n Roll; also Latin Cha Cha and some Line dances. Maybe also can form a Dance Group for fun.
Well, I am interested in dancing, movie, travelling, cooking, reading, outdoor activities, social gathering, making new friends, staying active excercising and organising outings. Dont mind helping out silverhair club to get things going.
I am interested in alternate medicine and, in particular, massage therapy. Am also interested in investments in financial instruments.
On 16 Jan 2006, we held a brainstorming session. Headed by Patrick Yeo. The brainstorm team consists of Ronald Lee, Evelyn Tan, Shirley Wong, Margaret Lee, Terence Seah, Elsie Ho, Charles Wee. Instead of calling SHC Olympics, the group decided we shall now call the activity the SHC Games Day.
Activities to start with include scrabbles, mahjong, monopoly, walking, bowling.
SHC will send out an invitation to find out who would participate in the different activity groups. Closing date - end Feb 2006.
Date: Sunday, 17 Sept 2006.
The SilverHairsClub first Dinner and Dance is confirmed:
As you can see, the D&D is no more an idea. The place has just been decided. The committee is roughly in place. What we are thinking of now is to go into the detail planning of the evening. The committee will meet; and I would now hand over the detail planning to the D&D Event Organiser, Dolly Lim. Click here to see her picture. 1st meeting likely on 2nd week Feb in Serangoon Gardens.

A brainstorm meeting was held on Wed 11 Jan 2006 at Atrium Orchard, Dhoby Ghout MRT. Present: Evelyn, Ann, Vincent Khoo, Ronald Lee, KC Lau and Terence. Patrick Ang and Richard Kwok participated briefly.
The group looked at short term stays, with a target of SGD 500 - 600 per month, covering shared rental and food. Other topics include retirement village, comparing with retirement homes in Singapore at SGD 1,000 per month. Living costs were discussed, and while it sounded cheaper to stay for short periods, there was general agreement that most will consider Singapore their real home.
There was strong interest to organise short "no frills" travel to see and understand Thailand’s culture and opportunities. Other interests include organising meetings with International hospitals.
Vincent takes the lead, and a Thailand trip "No fills" has been organised. The date and time is set for March 21, 2006, Tuesday 12 noon to March 27, 2006, Monday 12 noon. SilverHairs to organise their own air tickets.
Only 8 persons can join this program. To take part, simply add your name, by putting a comment to this posting. Based on first come basis.

We have a lot of pressure to hold the next SHC gathering, after Chinese New Year. Many ladies are expected to be busy with all the hard work that goes into preparing for the festive occasion.
We have brought the date to Thursday, Feb 9, 2006. Place will be advised. Patrick Yeo will be the event organiser.
