Monthly Walk – Calling for volunteers

We are drawing up the program for 2008 with the following  walking sites under consideration.

  1. Sembawang park & Bottle tree village
  2. Pasir Ris Park & Mangrove view
  3. Changi Coastal Walk
  4. Bishan Park & Lower Pierce
  5. Macritchie Board Walks
  6. Kallang Park & Marina Bay
  7. Ulu Pandan Canal
  8. Kent Ridge & Labrador Park
  9. Mount Faber Park
  10. Bukit Timah Hill
  11. Fort Canning Park & Riverside walk
  12. Ponggol Park & canal walk
  13. Botanical Garden
  14. Kemangan/ Telok Kurau canal  to East Coast Lagoon
  15. OR westward   to Bedok Reservoir

All our scheduled walks  will be led by two leaders, one in front  of the walking group and the other behind.   The first will lead the group and sets the walking pace, halt at  photograph & rest stations  and the other  at the rear will ensure the group moves as one especially when the group exceeds twenty persons. Usually, the walks end at a refreshment or food centre.

Currrently there are only three of us,  myself, Christina & Vernonica  who lead the  walks. However, there are times when some of us are away or have urgent matters to attend to.  To enable us carry out the scheduled  walks , which is always on the 2nd saturday of each month and without interruption  we need more volunteers.

So, …. . fellow SHC, especially those who have been walking regularly with us,   please come forward and put your name down.  thanks

  1. “The first will lead the group and set the walking pace….and the other at the rear will ensure the group moves…..”

Hahaha, like that also got one meh?

So if the leading chap is a fascist-leaner and leads by the stomping nazi march, what a sight for the rest to follow?

And the last guy nudging with a cane, with his pit bull trained as a shepherd dog barking?

What Jade & YK do for cycling follows an unwritten rule…..either one will take the lead and the other will keep watch from the back, or help the learners.

  2. helo..
Just wondering…is there a possibility to walk on weekdays after office hrs pls??
I used to walk to Marina Park with some colleagues…but all of them, ‘hilang’ now!…
i cant walk alone bcos its quite a’lonely’park lah :)
Maybe we can start from Lau Pa Sat & finish there also to hv our makan2..how’s that?
then working SHCians around town boleh join…im sure we’ll enjoy the beautiful views of S’pore River & the coming S’pore Flyer!

  3. Aiyah, Norlinda. When I read the first part of your comment, I thought, “Hooray! Here’s someone who wants to walk after sunset!”
I’m the sort who dislikes the sun and I used to walk either early before the sun has fully risen or after it has set, but, but, but…Lau Pa Sat?
Guess this isn’t meant for me. :-( Although I must agree it is lovely to watch the sun set by the Singapore River, even more so, sipping a cool drink and munching on chips. Hehe.

  4. Alamak dear Mary C..jalan2 abit lah to town..u stay at Pasir Ris rite?, just take the MRT straight to Raffles Place, no need to change train…come lah :)anyway we shall meet up on cycling day this saturday, then I will tell u why u shud not miss Lau Pa Sat hahaha!…u know, SHC’s mthly meeting also held around there a few times b4…at La A Manger

  5. Norlinda, I go to Raffles Place pretty often lah. My bank is there, but lau Pa Sat is sooo warm! I’ve been there in the evenings and it’s still warm, but I must say the seafood stall near the rojak stall is verrry good but can be rather expensive, depending on what you order. I like their sambal stingray, which makes me perspire even more.
Ya, I’ll see you Sat. :-)

  6. Good morning DennisH, certainly we will inform you. Look out for our posting on Monthly Walks for 2008. We are taking a break for Nov & Dec 07 because of the school holidays.
    Have a great day ahead.
    cheers.
