Kristy & Peggy’s New Year Gourmet Celebration – Sun, 5 Jan (6-10pm)

Kristy & Peggy’s New Year Gourmet Celebration

Fancy a healthy home cooked meal just like mom’s cooking followed by a sinful durian feast after, to begin the New Year ?

Yes, you can have the best of both worlds, on Sunday January 5 between 6 pm to 10 pm at 33 Mt Sinai Rise The Marbella Function Room (200 meter away from Dover MRT Station).

You are invited to join in this gathering of SHC friends for a contribution of $25. We will experience the home style cooking of Kristy & Peggy. Subject to availability, we intend to try a variety of durian ‘brands’ and we are allocating an average of one whole durian per person. Because of the limited capacity of their domestic kitchens (good thing comes in small size, he he he), we have to limit participation to the first 30 people who sign up for this event.

The menu will serve the specialties of Kristy & Peggy, eg. Macaroni Fruit Cocktail Salad, Fried Tom Yam Tung Hoon, Nyonya Chap Chye, Mama’s Curry Chicken; be assured it will not disappoint. Be sure not to miss this rare occasion.

On signing up please transfer your payment to POSB Saving Account : 038-02874-0 and Whatsapp or Message Peggy upon your payment or post here.

The joint EOs for this function are Kristy Quek & Peggy Yap

  1. Hi Peggy, Kristy, Lily,

So sad, I wont be able to attend. I encourage such events to the home, the hosts cooks the meals, invites fellow members and put a cost to cover the costs. Such activities brings members together and bonds relationship in the SilverHairsClub. A great initiative.

  2. Dear All,
It is heart warning to see fellow SHCians signing up for our maiden function : a simple home cooked meal event. Kristy & myself greatly appreciate your support.
We have heard that we should organize a bigger event and would like to emphasie that this is not possible because of the limited capacity of domestic kitchens. This is also to ensure that the quality of the meal preparation is not compromised. I am sure those of you who are able to cook understand the issues concerned.
We will be updating the account tonight if not tomorrow morning for those who have paid, and wondering how we can do the editing update instead of troubling Lily who has been painlessly doing the posting & updating on our behalf.

  15. Dear friends,

A thank you to everyone for your enthusiastic response to our New Year gathering on Sunday Jan 5 between 6 to 10 pm.
Just to give you a flavour of what to expect, we will start dinner beginning at around 6.30 pm or soon after most of you have arrived.
We will arrange for durians to be delivered around 8 .15 pm so that dinner has some time to settle before you plough into the gourmet dessert.
Between the end of dinner and durian arrival time, we will have some light entertainment to keep you engaged. Anybody who can contribute to this entertainment e.g play a musical instrument, sing a capella since we don’t have music accompaniment available. tell a joke etc. are most welcome to participate. Otherwise you have to suffer the entertainment provided by the hosts.
For those driving to the venue, please park in the basement visitor car park lots and come direct to the function room by the swimming pool.
For those coming by MRT, get off at Dover station, cross a canal via a footbridge, turn left after crossing and continue walking along the canal for about 150 m. You will see the back gate of the condo. Press for security and tell them you are coming to the function room and they will release the gate to let you into the condo grounds.
    See u all this Sunday

    Cheers,
    Kristy n Peggy

  18. Hi Peggy, Arthur and Kristy

Tks for organising the makan cum durian event this evening. Really had an enjoyable time. You all were such gracious hosts. Kudos to Pegs and Kristy for the yummy dishes plus durians! Enjoyed the impromptu speeches by our ‘tok kong’ speakers. And of course, Frisna, our humourous and talented CNN reporter’s interviews with the speakers got us all roaring with laughter. Good laughter therapy indeed!

    What a wonderful evening ~ :-)

    Cheerio

  19. Hi Arthur, Peggy and Kristy

Thank you very much for your warm hospitality and good programme – food, durians and laughter. I guessed I didn’t missed much although I was so late. I enjoyed the special home-cooked food which was simply yummy, yummy and delicious!

It was an evening of good food, yummy durians and entertainment – all rolled in one. Arthur was entertaining. Thumbs up Arthur, for a special rendition of the Hokkien Shanghai Tang! You must have taken pains to perfect the song. Your well-planned entertain programme with your ‘guest’ speakers, namely, Joy, Christina, Grace, Charles, Thomas, Pat (my apologies if I had missed out anyone) and our impromptu reporter, Frisna was fun and hilarious. Their sharing gave us a little understanding about themselves etc. Arthur, your efforts are appreciated by all.

Peggy, your chicken curry was super yummy. It looked too spicy to me and I was not sure if I could tolerate it. You see, I can’t take spicy food but Kristy sat next to me and encouraged me to eat a bit. After one small bite on the potato and I said, “I shall finish the whole bowl of curry.”

Kristy, I wish I had more time to enjoy more of your salad and huat kueh la. I love salads but while I was gobbling up my dinner, Peggy came and said, “May, don’t eat the huat kueh. Go and eat your durians” .

Last but not least, I would like to thank Winnie for inviting me to takeover her place with Peggy’s “Yes”. Thank you Winnie for the yummy good treat!

    Warm Regards, maywoo

  20. Dear friends,
Thank you for all your notes of appreciation and compliments. We do hope that the goodwill, friendship and camaderie that everyone demonstrated so well during the gathering will carry on into our real lives long after the party has been forgotten. If that is the case then we would be gratified to have made this small contribution to the cause of the betterment of human relationships amongst SHC seniors in particular.
Now we are sure that everyone is looking forward to the Lo Hei organized by May and her group of superwomen. We are sure that this party will be even more successful. Hopefully more such gatherings from other potential EOs will begin coming forth after that and SHC can move from strength to strength as the year 2014 moves on.
Thank you for the participation of all again and may we meet at Lo Hei, or even before then.
    Blessings,
    Kristy, Peggy n Arthur
