Jeffrey Gan – Profile

Recently, I met a close friend Ron Lai and he mentioned SHC to me. He said that since I am actively involved in singing and dancing, why not join him. He mentioned that the people there are very friendly and I then decide to join the club.

I am a long time musician and had a running band presently.I had also played in many functions all over like SICC, KEPPEL CLUB, QUALITY HOTEL, SUNTEC CONVENTION HALL to name a few. I am presently conducting singing live band and social dance here and there. I am also an assistant convenor for PARC bowling for the past 10 years and is now held in Planet Bowl, Tessensohn Road. We have 4 days a week session from 2-4PM. Hope to see you real soon. Cherrio !

  1. Welcome Jeffrey,
Can you provide some free entertainment for charity causes? for SHC function. Can your group also perform magic show! … too much to ask!!

  2. Hi Jeffrey

Is nice to know that you are joining our Silverhairs group now, WELCOME……….
We have various activities on hand, organise by our own Silverhairs, not so Silver, or even Black.

Right on today itself, this very afternoon at 3.00pm right up until 8.30pm, our Silverhairs, comprising more than 70 in number, are getting together at #18, Bali Lane, to know one another, and to gain some knowledge on Computer, shared by our expert Loh Yew Kwong, who will be on hand to give guidance. No doubt, today will be a little too late for you to join us, but there will be always next time, and next activity.

With your vast knowledge of music, dancing and entertainment, it will be a great advantage that you are in our fold.

  10. Hi Jeffrey

Is good for your better late than never reply, if I have known I would have let you know how to submit and post. Our DnD is still more than three weeks away, it will be good if you will consider in joining us and play at the function, to make the DnD more lively, of course with the E.O.’s approval.

  11. Hi Ron,
Like u said, it is left wif oli 3wks to D&D. If by now, d prgm is not yet finalise dat we r in big trouble liao.. rite.. EO? As a comm, I wuld prefer 2 stay status quo now as it wuld not b fair 2 sum other comm who already planned/worked those events for the nite. They had spent many nites 2 plan which I am sure given their efforts, D&D will be enjoyable and lively also.

Moreover, wif Dan attending Jeff’s dance class previously, I am sure this option had already bn considered n put thru however, sad 2 say it was not being materialised due to sum reasons..

In my personal opinion, D&D shd not be focused 2 much on solo performance, they shd catered for overall crowd so that each n everyone can enjoy mah, tio bo?

Perhaps, both of you can hand up for the EO for the concert dat Terence is still scratching his head to find sum1 experienced enuf 2 lead lor.. Terence.. possible candidate hor…

  12. Hi Ronand/Dolly, I had actually wanted to sponsor a two piece band free of charge for the D n D 2 months ago when approach to volunteer. This is to make the occasion more lively instead of cd music all through the night. At the same time, I had also intended to purchase two tables ( 20 tickets ) for my current singing students and dancers as from past experiences, many of the dancers would not attend if there is no live band.It does make a big difference as I highlighted it to Dan.My only request was my partner and I need not be charge as we both do not eat in all functions whether organise by myself or playing for my clients. This issue was discuss with Dan, but very sadly, he said that the committee insisted that I need to pay $45 each. Off the record, I have been playing even one piece band for numerous occasions and had charge $4oo to 5oo on each outings. I can show you my invoice. For this reason, I apolise that I am unable to help and all the best in the coming function.

  13. Hi Dolly, hope I am able to make you sleep now. Also, like to thank you and the rest for attending my dance class. Feel free on weekdays to go for jam dance sessions.

  14. No harm joining the rest of us at the D&D for fun. It’s always good to have more dancers on the floor.

Although registration already closed, but we still have the capacity to take in more subject to EO’s consent, right EO Caroline?

  15. Dear Jeffrey

Your good intention to book 2 tables have been noted with thanks. However, this D&D is strictly restricted to SHC members only and not open to the public. No doubt your guest will be willing to be registered as SHC members prior to the booking?

For the record, everyone have to pay for the D&D. The committee members, the EO and including the originator (Chairman) of SHC, Mr. Terence Seah himself. It would not be appropriate for the committee to accept your condition over and above the Chairman don’t you think?

  16. Hi Jeffrey @16,

I am pleased to know you are running a band. I have something in mind, and would be glad to discuss with you an event which I have in mind. Let’s chat sometime when we next meet.

I hope you will join us at the D&D. I also note you have a group of dancer friends. Please encourage them to join SilverHairsClub, as most of our activities are for members only.

    See you soon.

    Terence Seah

  17. Hi Jeffrey

Welcome to SHC. Believe you will find many meaningful activities and purposeful friendship.

Enrich your singing and dancing talents and circle.

    Warmest regards

    Andrew

  18. Re #19 Lily,To carry my musical instruments is no joke. The Pa system and keyboards plus the two ACTIVE speakers are no common instruments.Has SHC ever engage a band to play 4 our function. Just check to see how much. Also the band boys we engage , do we need to charge them too ?

  19. Ref#23, Jeff, so far I dun tin dat we hv not engage any kind of such svcs as almost every SHC events are planned wif vry vry lean budget so that we can get maximum participation from members. Of cos, if we hv sponsor, den it wuld b different scenario. If not, is always SHC for SHC.

  20. Dolly & Jeff

It need not be “No”. Think out of the box.

There are 5 floors in two adjacent shophouses at Scorebot which you can use for significantly less than what you would be paying in a typical D&D. And you have no problem with equipment. They run 24 hours. There are virtually non-restrictions. Free car park is available after 5pn. Members can eat, smoke, drink and dance the night away. You get more than the value for your money.

The only thing is that it is the one contiguous space. But you can use this as a multi-theme party like Zuok with its different rooms. Dance in one, talk to soft music in another and eat curry crabs in the third. Networking? No problem. Just move around and mingle. Tired of one scene then move to the next. In fact, it is better to carry out group conversations in smaller private spaces rather than to talk at the same time with 150 people in the same space.

Why pay so much for a large ill-equipped space and find yourself at a stretch to provide even basic music and entertainment. Unless you are trying to run a lecture or wedding dinner, there is really no reason to do so to have everyone in the same room.

But if there is a need to, then hire a single space together with equipment as a package. There are many good deals available.

If Zouk can, you can too. For the better.
