FAQ –

  1. Venue – not fixed yet. Maybe Paya Lebar CC, Henderson CC, at your home if it can take in a group of 4 with broadband access n at least 1 PC or at McDonald if U can bring along a lappy.
  2. Time Slot – likely on a Sat afternoon unless aft mid-Apr 08.

Just need your (only those who have indiciated their interest) opinion n comment –

If we hold I.T. workshops at ScoreBot, would U prefer to use PCs/Laptops provided or bring your own assuming that chargeable fees are the same?

  1. WEi wei Yew Kwong,

Where is the venue? Did you consider Paya Lebar Kovan CC? I want to learn how 2 download songs from YouTube’s website 2 my laptop.

    Ah Nee

  2. Hi Yew Kwong,

Like DanH I only attended 1 of the 4 IT classes you had. Those are more basic and I need them before I progress further { besides that my computer is plain vanilla without all the attachments required. } Hope you will have a repeat of those classes.

    Tks & rgds………Jie

  3. Yes YK,

Thanks for answering my request. Very much appreciated.

Alamak, Ah Nee, Lina and Eileen, YK might have to clone himself because I would choose Henderson CC. But being the gracious guy I am, I will go over if that’s the final choice. Make you ladies happy, ho bo? Sat afternoon is also good for me too!

    Tata n keep smiling!

  4. Hi guys

Getting a venue is oredi hard. Even wen we get one I cant guarantee it will be a convenient one.

Alternatively, if any member here can put up a gp of 4 in their home (must hv internet access) for a 2.5 hr session, it will solve everything.

Other than abv, U can oso attend these courses privately at some members’ homes at affordable fees.

    Hi Dan n John

Since both of U r staying ard my area, if either of U can host the session at ur plc, I can always drop ovr. Even at 2 a.m. I can do it. Can?

  5. YK @ #16 and Rene @ #18

Why don’t you consider our SHC Investment Club’s venue at Scorebot. As such it is more than well equipped for any IT workshop. It is at Bugis MRT which is conveniently located along the EW line. It has all the fast broadband that you require. It can stay open for you if need be.

No one will be left out. For members who do not have PCs, this also can be arranged. You can also test out your downloads on the big screens with home theatre quality.

Whilst you are waiting for disc to cut or download, enjoy the food and drinks. Scorebot will be launching a full range of hawker food. Try real chicken rice with a US Election theme -“Black or White, both juicy and good”.

If you have time, watch the market, do some trading or go shopping and come back later.
One of the most pleasant experience in life is to make money whilst enjoying a full range of AV/IT edu-tainment ie not only music, video but also education and news. Or sit around and wonder over a glass of wine what we will do with the CPF if we ever succeed in drawing it out. It is a retirement lifestyle that is hard to beat. We can, so can you.

    Hee-hee.

All members from SHC Investment Club including Andrew, Dennis and myself are experienced in IT. I am sure that we will pleased to help in the class and the newbies if the need arises.

  6. Dear KT

    Thanks for the compliments.

Am familiar with Fin Mgt, Systems Analysis and Investing, not IT applications like those mentioned by YK.

Yes, if YK looks for central location and easily accessed to, Scorebot has the facilities and location.

Count me in for an evening or Saturday afternoon class on #5 and video making.

  7. Andrew @ #21

Huh? I thought you’re the swinging, yodelling prince.

Should learn to enjoy IT. Money is not the end all. (Are you aware that tonite is autotrading course nite. Call Dennis. He is co-ordinating the first wave of wealth merchants.)

No. Problem. Once YK teach us all how to record, we’ll do your duet. Today Internet, tomorrow Hollywood!

BTW, when is the recording? $10 by Nets, Cash or Card. Your choice.

    Hee-hee.

  8. KT @ 22

ScoreBot is a gd n centralised plc but short of eqpt. We can discuss tis in pte. I can even show U how things r done n then U can run e workshops at fees chargeable 2 e participants. Mayb we can hv ScoreBot as SHC’s official learning ctr in future.

My idea behind doing tis is 2 narrow e digital divide amongst SHC members. If theres a will learning is always possible n just take a little longer time.

  9. YK @ #24

Let’s meet. How about tonite 21 Feb Thu at Scorebot. Dinner’s on me. Check it out together. There’s an autotrading session for SHC members. If not, here’s my contact iwiz@cyberway.com.sg & 91721567. I don’t SMS.

Scorebot is more resourceful than just chicken rice and trading. If there is a hardware that cannot be made available then it is probably not invented yet.

We are absolutely in concurrence. In forming Scorebot, the principle noble objective was to narrow all the SHC divides – in trading, small business, flea market (booty sales then), inequities, lifestyle, wealth, edu-tainment, senior recruitment and employment, etc. Including but not exclusively the digital divide.

Remember? I think you may have been there too in the early pre-formation stage.

It started in the wake of Blue Helmet and a private challenge. I put our money where my mouth is. I should have put my foot in there instead.

I spoke and drank too much that night. I hope that I don’t live a life of morning-after regrets for a single night of folly.

Moral of the story. Don’t drink and bet. Bet and drink. If you lose, you won’t feel the pain and you will still feel good.

    Hee-hee.

  10. Yes!..Scorebot is a good centralised location..fair for everybody!

Yew Kwong..if its a weekday evening,im interested to join..shall wait 4 yr final decision.
John Howe..don satday lah..im committed to family affairs on weekends!

  11. sorry to sound so ignorant but where is scorebot? or is it a what?

I would like to use my own laptop but dont have a DVD writer in my laptop. How?

    margie

  12. Margie @ #32

Check with YK for his confirmation of location.

Get an external DVD writer with USB connection. Cheap. About $70 to $90. You also should have a high capacity hard disk.

Scorebot is a location at 18 Bali Lane (nearest MRT is Bugis; and it diagonally opposite Raffles Hospital). The group has a cafe, ala-carte restaurant and on-line financial trading hub. They run finacial training courses too.

    See map

Are you coming to the SHC monthly meeting and SHC Flea Market. It is at the same location.

  13. KT, I must give it to you for putting Scorebot in such a strategic location, and running a business which can potentially help make more sporeans.

See, romance begins at Scorebot…….alighting from bus 48, they need to walk only 3 steps before being ushered most politely to a table for a sumptuous candlelight dinner, and another 186 steps later to #12-101 Landmark, and if things work out nicely and fast, Raffles is there to welcome their newborns.

Must save to buy Scorebot shares…….

  14. Hi Margaret Chan @ 38

We are still looking 4 a venue. Hopefully tis venue issue will be settled by late Apr 08 otherwise we consider other alternatives. Tks.

  15. Hi Guys

Its been almost 2 mths since I started tis thread. Gd responses but until 2dy, I m still unable 2 do so as a suitable venue is not found. Giving no other choice, I m now prepared 2 do it at members’ home in small grps of 3 to 4 ppl on Sat morn.

I hv indicate the residential areas nx 2 the names of interested members. U can form ur gps basing on res area or otherwise n let me know ur prefered dates (Sat morn pls). For those which I hv not indicate, pls let me know ur res areas. If my avail timings cant fit into ur schedule, I wld suggest tat u attend the wkshp at ScoreBot.

The 1st wkshp will kick off in mid May. If we can hv 3 – 4 ppl in each gp, it will be completed in 6 to 8 wks.

  16. YK,
Are those listed in the syl can be completed in 1 lesson.

If so, I am interested, if not, den can I only attend those topic is of my interest?
