SilverHairs Enterprise has just set up a payment counter

payment counter1payment counter2 payment counter3SilverHairs Enterprise (SHE) intends to be more active.  In the past few years, SilverHairs Enterprise was used as the entity to engage companies, other social groups and government departments. We had not run activities under SHC before. Depending on the activities, SHE may be the entity to run some of the larger activities for SilverHairs and Singaporeans, PRs in general.  SHE is a business entity and is not intended to function at a loss.  Currently, SHE owns the website domain SilverHairsClub.com and all names related to the SilverHairsClub.

Different committee will be identified to run larger gatherings and programs.  Committee members will be compensated.

If there is payment required for the SilverHairs Enterprise activity, payment will be made online via Paypal or credit card.  A button has been set up on the right column of SilverHairsClub;.com.

Thank you to Jassmine Teo, Yew Kwong and Hew Lee for triggering the idea of online payment.

  1. Hi Terence: – Within the SHC website, once a Post requires participants to pass on money to EO’s or SHE’s xx account through PayPal or Credit Card, it is doing business. Some EOs choose the business model to be of non-profit in nature but some do have a small profit for service rendered, like those corporate members. Success or failure depends on the skills of the EOs. and those corporate members.

At times, EO has to firm up a commitment they made with a business outlet (normally for bookings or food related issues) as some participants may have last minute changes that may upset the commitment made. Free events always have the most headache as it does not hurt the participant in any way. It will definitely hurt the EO/EC. So EO/ECs must be prepared to stomach it (as one SHCian has said).

Will SHC requires EO/EC to pass on all monies collected to a central SHE account (and not to individual personal accounts) in future? In so doing, someone in SHE has to do the bookkeeping.

What will be the magic ratio between SHE and the organizer(s) of the event. Will SHE declare this ratio?

    1. Hi Hew Lee, ChristinaP,

You have made some good observations. The EO’s committment to the venue operator. I have also observed same, and that some EOs have cancelled events due to the event being loss making.

Many past EOs have good intentions but they developed negative views after being humtum’d by the participants.

But we will still leave the decision process on the events to the EOs or the ECs. SilverHairsClub is social and private, and comprises all individual Singaporeans or PRs.
There are no plans to set other procedures for EOs or Ecs, as a member is required to be an EO once in the lifetime of the membership. Hopefully, this will encourage creativity in events for SilverHairs.

To answer you, all EOs or ECs will not pass their event collections through the SHE account, as SilverHairsClub is a group of private individuals. They will continue same as now for any event.

Only SHE organised events must go through SHE. I am waiting to discuss with members who are interested to join the SHE organising committee, so the details are not there yet. We can continue to discuss here.

Large events as well as events involving Singaporeans in general will be picked up by SHE.

As for the magic number, SHE can decide at a later date. I hope to develop a team of committee members who can organise activities and events for SilverHairs by SilverHairs for Singaporeans. Based on feedback in the last 8 years, some members are prepared to be committee members if they are compensated.

Let’s see. We will get this started.

      1. For members who are interested to set up a paypal account, you may like to know that Paypal Singapore charges 3.9% + $0.50 SGD per sale.

Give it a try to set up a paypal account, if you are interested in selling online.
