Mthly Gathering – suggestion for a venue

SHCian,

I have loged in the SHC Web this morning & noted Terence & June mentioned can be arrange some changes in next gatherings. May I propose Downtown East in Pasir Ris, as on & off there will  have some entertainments in the open spare event hall, we can take dinner/drink at the restraurant or hang around the corner in the resort as there just build a new shopping centre, for those who love to sign karaoka also sing at K-box.

Thank you.

Hi ! SHCcian, I am Judy Lim & work as an full time Accounts/Admin staff in Logistics Company located in Changi Airfreight Center. Although I am not really a good singer/dancer yet this two activities are still my first choice of hobby. Beside that I also enjoy travelling. I was attracted by the name of ‘SILVER HAIR CLUB" thru the website & wondering what is the Association or Member club. After reading the forum, I would like to thank the founder - Mr Terence Seah to found the club to gather & brighten those in their 45 & above heart & social life. After my first attendance at the Bali Lane on 15 Mar 08, I noted the members are quite knowledgeable/friendly & looking forward to my 2nd gathering in D/D which in coming Sat. Lastly, I feel glads to join as a SHC member & proud that all of us 45 years old & above are still healthy & strong in our body to achieve senior citizen’s life. Cheer!!! Judy

  1. Well, Judy, Downtown East is exciting, teeming & lively but perhaps a tad more suited to the colored hairs. But I am not dismissing it as an alternative venue, not least for the chalets there where more action can take place altho the convenience of centrally located & spacious Hans Cafe has made it SHC’s usual choice.

  2. Hi Judy,

I totally agree with Tim Kor that Downtown East is too far for me from the west to travel to the east. And Hans is centrally located, ie a plus point.

  3. Hi Steven

Tim din say Downtown East is 2 far 4 him but expressed his preference 4 centrally located & spacious Hans Cafe.

If u say its far 4 u, wat abt holding it at Uptown West? Wld it be far 4 those who stay in the East. As 4 me, location or travelling distance nvr occur 2 me as deterent. If SHC or EO decide 2 hold it at the zoo, I will still go. Imptly its the company we njoy.

  4. Hi June,

It is very nice of you to share and highlight Downtown East as a possible location for a gathering. I know thousands of people go to DownTown East, and that it has been renovated sometime recently.

Many of us are crazy, this includes Tim and myself. Why not? June, you pick a date, and let’s see how many people would join this gathering? You know enough friends at SHC. I will participate for the friendship too.

  5. Hi Judy Lim / Yew Kwong

    V. Sorry. I miss the on and off portion.

I thought it as regular gathering.

Yes,it would be a good change of environment and bonus too with so much of facilities in this resort.

    Why not?

  6. Hi! Terence,Tim,Yew Kwong & Steven Chan,

Really appreciate feedback from all of you & kindly be informed that my intention is only propose for more various places & variety of choices for SHC gathering. I do agreed that Downtown is too far for those who stay in west or north & I want to thanks Yew Kwong & Terence mentioned in the post that will participate for the friendship. I personally feel that location of travelling distance around S’pore are fast & convenience, regardless which corner you come from, most important is our time schecule whether can participate in the gathering or event. BTW, I am not a good organizer but can be a adviser or supporter.
    hihi…

  7. Hi Judy

No one knows their own potentials until discovered. Advise n support urself tat u can organise an activity or event. We r always ready 2 gv full support.

Terence’s favourite phrase “just raise ur hand n says I do”.

  8. Haha and well well………….

Presently, monthly gatherings are held on a weekday ending 8 p.m. and those working in town and its vicinities cd drop by at Hans Cafe after work without having to travel too far.

I too will go where the next gathering is held, selecting not so much its venue but who will be there. If some of my primate butties cd get a few hours off from mandai it will definitely make my day.

Judy, I am solidly behind you………..looking only hor so no worry.

  9. Hi ! Yew Kwong,

Thanks for encourage me to paticipate being the organizer, actually I got the intention to organise a Karaoka session which the places I proposed before, unfortunate that the place only can fix for maximum 12 persons for a large room,or else, do you have any places to suggest, I will surely fully support you.I rather be the supporter than the organizer as I only given my proposal of the venue & fews of you already disagree, anyway, I still sincerely to thanks you. BTW, which one is you in the D/D photograph? Sorry that I still consider a very new member in the club, only know a fews of your.

    Thank you.

  10. Judy, its a gd start 2 kick off wif a karaoke session 4 12 ppl. I cant think of alternative but at the beach wif ur own music set.

2 look me up is definitely ez. Go n preview the cycling activity photos n u wun miss. I always don a yellow tee.

  11. Hi Judy,
There is always a 1st time in everything la.. just go ahead n suggest wat is in ur mind lor.. Nobody is a born organiser lor, everyone learn thru’ mistakes n improve frm there lor..

  12. Hi Judy,

Wait I must go out first. Have to count what row and which one so that takes time. Will tell you when I have more time OK. Come and join us in our activities, better than looking at the photos. See you around.

  13. I like the idea of having a day at Downtown East. We could do some more painting. I thoroughly enjoyed the painting session at Hans during the last meeting. It rekindled my passion for the art of painting. And after an afternoon of painting, we can adjourn to karaoke or dancing, which are my other passions. By the way, when is the date for the next meeting? Terence, is there a schedule? Or is it on an ad-hoc basis?
