  1. Hi friends

    I know some of you will be away in December, but nonetheless, I’ll still be having one final one for 2014 in December. Do come and join in the Christmassy mood. Oh yes, we can sing some Christmas carols accompanied by the ukulele.

    So far, six have confirmed their attendance, one (tentative).. Hence, the coffee chat session is confirmed. As long as there are two or three, the event will carry on. :-)

    Come on and register soonest possible.

    Cheers

  2. Hi Gabe

    How can I not come? Thanks for your efforts in keeping the Coffee Chats going…next to the Walkies you have the most regular event.

    See you all this December!

  3. Hi Kenneth

    See you on 4 Dec.

    Just a pre-kopi chat sharing (no. 1):

    Ëvery person has the power to make others happy.
    Some do it simply by entering a room
    others by leaving the room.
    Some individuals leave trails of gloom;
    others, trails of joy.
    Some leave trails of hate and bitterness;
    others, trails of love and harmony.
    Some leave trails of cynicism and pessimism;
    others trails of faith and optimism.
    Some leave trails of criticism and resignation;
    others trails of gratitude and hope.
    What kind of trails do you leave?
    (Poem by William Arthur Ward)

  6. Pre kopi-chat sharing (no. 2)

    One day three blondes were walking down the beach when they saw that something had washed up on the beach.

    The first blonde shouts, “Look it’s a dinosaur!”

    The second blonde says, “No stupid. It’s the Titanic. Duh.”

    The third blonde chuckles. “You’re both dumb. It’s obviously a genie in a bottle.” So she proceeds to pick up the bottle and rub it. Sure enough! A genie pops out!

    The genie stretched and looks around to find the three blondes. “Normally,” the genie said, “I would grant three wishes, but since there are three of you, you each get one wish.”

    The first blonde steps forward. “Ok, I don’t like being a dumb blonde so I want to be 50% smarter.”

    The genie bobs his head and says, “Done.” He turns her into a brunette.

    The second blonde says, “I don’t like being a dumb blonde either so I want to be 100% smarter!” The genie turns her into a redhead.

    The last blonde ponders her wish for a moment and finally says, “I LIKE being a dumb blonde. I want to be 100% dumber.”

    The genie turns her into a man.

    (NO OFFENCE ~ JUST FOR LAUGHS … HAHAHA)

  9. Pre-kopi chat sharing (no. 3):

    “One Sunday morning, a wealthy man sat in his balcony enjoying the sunshine and his coffee when a little ant caught his eye. It was going from one side to the other side of the balcony carrying a big leaf several times more than its size. The man watched it for more than an hour. He saw that the ant faced many obstacles during its journey, paused, took a diversion and then continued towards its destination.

    At one point, the tiny creature came across a crack in the floor. It paused for a little while, analysed and then laid the huge leaf over the crack, walked over the leaf, picked up the leaf on the other side and then, continued its journey.

    The man was captivated by the cleverness of the ant, one of God’s tiniest creatures. The incident left the man in awe and forced him to contemplate over the miracle of Creation. It showed the greatness of the Creator. In front of his eyes, there was this tiny creature of God, lacking in size yet equipped with a brain to analyse, contemplate, reason, explore, discover and overcome. Along with all these capabilities, the man also noticed that this tiny creature shared some human shortcomings.

    About an hour later, the man saw that the creature had reached its destination – a tiny hole in the floor which was entrance to its underground dwelling. And it was at this point that the ant’s shortcoming that it shared with the man was revealed. How could the ant carry into the tiny hole the large leaf that it had managed to carefully bring to the destination? It simply couldn’t!

    So the tiny creature, after all the painstaking and hard work and exercising great skills, overcoming all the difficulties along the way, just left behind the large leaf and went home empty-handed.

    The Moral of the story

    Isn’t that the truth about our lives?

    We worry about our family, we worry about our job, we worry about how to earn more money, we worry about where we should live – 5 bedroom or 6 bedroom house, what kind of vehicle to buy – a Mercedes or BMW or a Porsche, what kind of dresses to wear, all sorts of things, only to abandon all these things when we reach our destination – The Grave. We don’t realize in our life’s journey that these are just burdens that we are carrying with utmost care and fear of losing them, only to find that at the end, they are useless and we can’t take them with us.”

    This is the final sharing :-) C u all on 4 December 2014

  10. Hi Gabriella
    I like stories about ants. I also saw a tiny ant carrying a cut leaf about 5 times its size struggling up a low mound to get to the other side of the mound. I watched it for several seconds and saw it tottering as it tried to keep its balance while carrying the ‘big’ leaf. An admirable insect!
    And the moral – “All is vanity” ?

  11. Hi Richard Lean
    Are you joining us for the Dec meet?

    As long as there’s an interest in meeting over a cuppa of coffee, the meet-up will continue. Why not ya?

    Ooooo… I see that you like the Pre-kopi chat stories/sharings … tks!

    Cheers

  12. Thank you Gabriella for your successful gathering with singing Christmas carols and evergreen songs, not to forget your chocolate delights too. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

    A Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too.

  14. Hi Gabriella,
    Thank you for performing on your ukelele. You were great! We had a fun time singing along. We must ‘jam’ like this more often.
    Cheers!

  15. Hi Mary

    Thank you for your kind words… I’m so happy that you had an enjoyable FUN time too. Yes, we must make the rest of our life the best in our life!

    See you at these kopi meets next year :-)

    A Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year 2015!

  16. By and by the number swelled;
    The chatter steadily rose.
    Free drinks from a first visitor;
    Chocolates from the ‘good chaser’.

    Mid-way came a soothing ukulele bass;
    Melodious voices happily sang ‘Jingle bells’.
    Immediately transformed, the atmosphere,
    And all were infected with Christmas cheer.

    A rousing coffee meet, thanks to all;
    Before the 2014 curtains gently fall.
