Lina is concern about the hot sun & getting darker……Susan also worry about backside pain. Rene told me she must get long sleeve material to cover her hand. Whatever it is, we are going for it. Douglas can draw out an itinerary, so that we know what to expect, can? Yew Kwong, please register The Magnificent7 for option 1. Aiyo, must wear that helmet again……

  10. Hi Veron at #12 and other cycling fanatics!

You can buy a folding bicycle like I have… if you’re worried about the small wheels you can also buy a full-sized wheel folder.

Visit the SpeedMatrix site for details.

Or you can buy a bigger car. SUV, truck or whatever… Haha!

  11. Hi Veronique,

Good to buy your own bike, cos can cycling anytime and anywhere. Also advisable to buy a bicycle rack for easy transportation.

YK, please include Susan and myself for Session 1 cycling. Thanks.

We salute Alicia for using a 16″ wheel bike and completing the route with ease.

    Ah Nee #7.
You had rode up to CV, from CV, we will proceed to downtown east for lunch, after lunch, may explore pasir ris park, otherwise continue with Tampines park connector,Bedok Reservoir Rd, Bedok park connector, here, have to push ur bike up an overhead bridge. at the end of Bedok park connector, will stop for refreshment at the old bedok army camp, back to east cost park McDonald.

Yes, our cycling activities is getting more and more exciting and with new challenges

  15. Hi Kakis

As Douglas mentioned, cycling activities are getting more xciting n challenging. Tis helps 2 build up our ability 2 do longer n further distance 2 explore n c more places.

Btw, I think its time 2 dis”A”ssociate wif Mag 7. Mths bck it was glorious but now requires a changeover. The nx time we shall start wif Mag 8.

  16. Hi YKwong & the Cycling Group,

Haiz… gonna miss one of my preferred activities again. Have a prior dinner engagement planned weeks ago. Join you all another time.

    Have fun!

  17. Hi YK at #22

    cheers

  18. Yew Kwong,

Mana ada Bike? I am still thinking of getting one. A foldable one or a normal Bike. Therefore, I need to rent a Bike for this long journey ride…….

Also please put Norlinda’s name under S1, she will use her own Bike. Now that Nor is in, we can start with Mag 8 or more……….. :)

    Ah Nee

  19. Ah Nee

Nr my ofc is a popular bike shop at Waterloo St, well equipped wif plenty of accessories n some bike wears like head scarf, sleeves, jerseys n padded pants 2 choose from. It has foldable ones tagged at $180 equipped wif speed gears. Hd tried it during lunch 2dy n find it gd. Shop operates from Mon to Sat from 9 am to 6 pm.

  20. Rene #15

    ? ? : ? ? ? ? ? ?.

Very interested to join leh, but will only be able to confirm after I have settled my Saturday morning commitment, say by end of next week.

    Douglas #21

My small wheels – Thanks for the compliment.I remembered the group was very patient with me as I have to cycle extra “rounds” to catch up.

I agree with you, more long distance cycling outings….
Wish I could also participate in the Runway cycling. Next year perhaps.

    Cheers
    Alicia

  21. Hi Yew Kwong,

Jade & I will stay with the learners and beginners.

Calling those who would like to try cycling,

Please come and join in the fun. One day, you might be able to join the “Magnificent……” whatever.

  22. Very interesting programs planned and how I wish to join you guys as I am away on this date. Hope to join this cycling trip the next time when I am not tie up. Wish everyone a fun cycling trip.

  23. Hi Douglas /Yew Kwong / Rene,

I’ve been waiting for this session since we completed our T.Peng trip. Looked like I’ll have to start early from a different route and meet up with you guys perhaps downtown east?

Due to a prior commitment (again), i cannot be with you in the afternoon. Can anyone of you let me know what time you all will reach CV/Downtown east?

    Cheers

  24. Hi Kenneth #13, Thanks for your advice. Can I have a look at your folding bicycle b4 making my decision? I’m not particular about the size of the wheels as long as the boot of my 1.5cc “truck” can contain it.

Hi Lina #14, I agreed, is good to have my own bike but Dolly and I are still hunting for a suitable one. Thanks and will c u this evening.

  25. Rene@15..sori din hear you earlier,nx time just shout louder at my home window lah…hehe

    Gingko@23…so long din c u leh?,apa khabar?

  26. Nor Sayang

I hear you calling loud and clear. Eh no outside food leh unless you want to sell your gorenng pisang on the pavement outside of the cafe.

Next time got flea market, then we sell gorend pisang ok?

Cannot go cycling leh. My children and sisters want to chill out with me for my bird day (not actual day lah because it falls on weekday).

You all go ahead and enjoy lah.

    Warmest regards

    Caroline Gee

  27. Veron@31..think foldable bike is only suitable for short distance & leisurely ride, not for long distance.
U should invest on a good bike like Lina’s..very cantek & powerful!..just like the owner!..hehe

  28. Hi Joyce #30

We will sms you when we leave McDonald. We shd be at CV ard 11.30 and at downtown east for lunch at 12.30pm

Dennis, we will oso sms you.

    see u n cheers

  29. Hahaha! Norlinda at 34

You are right… At my age, like the folding bike, only good for short distance and leisurely ride!!

Unfortunately I cannot join the ride on 21st, so you won’t be able to see my Dahon folder or myself in action!

  30. Dolly, dolly,

Last night, Veronique said she will join us for the long distance ride (S1). Veronique is so determine to do it, so can you….”lai leh” join in the fun lah. During the journey, I buy you makan makan & drink lah. I want to thank you for buying the Visor for me, not only this but many more other things you buy for us. Really appreciate it! And then hor, all of us use the Visor for the long journey ride, so stylo mylo lor….. :)

    Ah Nee

  31. Hi Veronique,

If you get the std. size bicycle it is quite impossible to keep the bicycle in your car boot without it sticking out (even with one wheel removed). You will need a bicycle rack or have a car with collapsible back seats. Whatever it is, you should have no problem doing the long distance. You have our support! Or maybe, we need your support, haha.

Douglas, is it more difficult to do long distance cycling with smaller wheel bikes or foldable bikes?

Kenneth, we have seen your Dahon folder oredi in the photograph you showed us. But not with you on it yet. Did you forget to come to Han’s gathering last night? I thot of reminding you by sms.

Nor #34, Complimented twice oredi. So malu!

  32. Hi Lina #38

My suggestion is to get a good mountain bike. Don’t let people see your tongue sticking out when you ride a folding bike up a steep hill like in P.Ubin.

Kenneth confirmed at #36, folding bike is ….”only good for short distance and leisurely ride!!…

    regards

  33. Hi Doug n Yew Kwong

As promised, 1 of the missing original Magnificent 7 is joining u guys 4 the session 1. Will mit u at CV at abt 11.30am. No point of me cycling 2 ECP and den, ride bak 2 Downtown East.

    Doug/YK: dont 4get 2 sms me

JoyceT: refer #30..pls tek note of the timing 2 mit at CV. Wat’s the route u r taking? We can mit halfway. Will prbly leave my place ard 10.30am. Will sms u, okay?

    Tek care u good ppls
    DennisW

  34. Ah Nee#37 and Renee, thanks for encouraging me to upgrade to S1. To be honest with you all, am only a track cyclist and have slight phobia when i go on the road. Ok lah! i will take up this challenge and wait for Dolly to import my helmet from Hainan Island. Dolly, hope my helmet could arrive on time for the “race” and dun 4get to buy 1 for yourself oso.

Lina#38, if i were to mount a rack on my car, i need a lighter weight bike, otherwise i would have problem carrying the bike up and down. Alternatively, i will do more weight lifting at the gym. Dat will solve the problem. Hahaha………..

  35. ANee, Veron, I wu sim bo lak la.. me hor tentative rtn frm Cina wrk trip is 20Jun nite la so hor, nid 2 catch up sum sleep lor.. so still prefer 2 stay at grp 2 tis tx lor..

Aiyo, both of u mai telecast wat I gave 2u if not, like dat, I will nid 2 bring a 30″ baggage i/o of 25″ 2 bring all tese barang2 back 2 SG la.. Tese r not expensive but took up quite a fair bit of space lor..

Veron, I will try 2 get ur helmet but no promise hor, just in case, kena extended trip again.

    Cu on Sat… Cheers.. Dolly

  36. Nor @ #32

Kawan, am not giving any excuse lah. Three engagements in the same afternoon, so I have to Minsky, Mini, Minor or More…

Am really missing everyone and all the fun at cycling. Sure will try to be present next round.

    Enjoy your day!

  37. Hello Hello!
have I missed out anything here…OriginalMag7cycling buddies & Team leaders YK & Doug, it’s Session-1 for me, oleh oleh!
Dennis d’Original Mag7 do not join in half way, ok? Surely it would be much more interesting to start from the very beginning..like DO Re Me.
Macdonald, Pengarang, park connector & Runway…what’s next?

  38. Hi Dennis,

    Sorry for my late reply.
Was planning for a route that can cover more and also to suit my schedule. So with guidance from our east coast pcn expert, i’ve decided to begin my ride @ 8.00am from CV/Loyang ave/(Pasir Ris)Tampines/Bedok, then meet up with S1 group at the Bedok/ECP underpass around 10.20am.

Together with S1 grp, i’ll return to CV via Changi coastal park. If you want to meet us at CV @ 11.30am, that wld be the end of my ride for the day. U can then proceed with the rest.

Alternatively, you can meet us earlier somewhere near your place (Pasir Ris/Tampines) and end your ride where you began with.

I’ll be riding with 2 more SHCian and welcome anyone who prefer to start early to join me. and of course we can have short break inbetween for refresment.

So Margie, Gladys & Siew Hoon, coming?

    Cheers & C u
    Joyce Tan

  39. Hi RonLee – Good to see you again @ S2-cycling. You have been MIA from cycling for such a long time. Sure your right arm is up to it? Take care not to over exert ok?

Stephanie – don’t think we’ve met? Your first time with us? I’m quite sure you are not a beginner. Will take you on a leisurely scenic ride.

HelenK, Veronique, Dolly & Jade – Look forward to seeing you gals again @ S2-cycling : Looks like I’ll have an easy job this month – no beginners! HelenK – this time no more practicing at the beginner’s route. You will be joining us on the scenic ride yeah?

Any more coming for the S2-cycling???

  40. Hi Lily,
Thank you for your concern. My arm is getting better by the day but you have gone so far during my hibernation period. Have to catch up with you quickly before you reaches…..????, hehee.

  41. Hi Douglas,

Like to do that CV route again but not at 10am, as it clashed with another appt, secondly it is also at the hottest time.

Why not consider starting at 4.30pm and finishing in the night , as it will be cooler also less traffic. Just my feedback also heard others wanted to do night cycling for a change. Btw when will the Desaru trip takes place. Cheers

  42. Hi Ron Wei #49

21 June is our monthly cycling and posted by EO YKwong.

I believe we may not be able to return the rental bike on time to the rental shop should we start at 4.30pm.

If we start at 10am, we would have lots of time for fellowship at the end of the ride, that is why two session were created for this ride, so choose your pick.

    regards

  43. Hi RonW

We wld love 2 but not 4 the moment now until we are ready 2 go 4 a nite ride.

As Douglas hd mentioned, we mite not be able 2 return the rental bikes timely. Nite ride takes longer time than usual due 2 visibility at nite.

Anyway, as much as we wanted more time for fellowship to laugh n cry in the arms of one another after the ride.

  44. Hi,

Fist time joining the cycling group and do not have own bike. Will join S2. Need advise on renting of bike. (charges and for how long?)

  46. Hi Yew Kwong,

If yes, may I ask how to contact when at ECP at 4pm? this will be my first participation in the activity – dont know any member as yet.
Just to be sure I understand correctly, rear of McDonalds meaning the seating area facing the other restaurants?

Thanks. Looking forward to meet you all.
    Kathryn

  55. Hi Yew Kwong, Ah Nee, LenaN and CharlesW,

This morning, I was entering the Hougang MRT station, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a signboard, saying foldable bikes allowed. Jotted down the size quickly as 1140mm (L) x 640mm (H) and 360 mm (W).

Whee, now I can bring my bike from Hougang to Jurong, and back. So happy.

    Terence Seah

  56. Hi Terence,

An SHCian told me that it is permitted to take foldable bikes on board the MRT, but now you have confirmed it. Am glad that it makes you so happy. But, what is the bike doing from Hougang to Jurong? Getting a free ride?

  57. Hi Lina,

When I first bought the foldable bike, it was to allow me to try cycling in other areas. MRT didnt allow me then. Now I have to think where to look around. I think cycling can be a new fun activity.

    Terence Seah

  58. Terence

U can bring in the foldable bike only during off peak period.

My son is a bike rider and they have to take out one back wheel then put it into a big bike bag. He usually take the last train home. I u/stand that during peak period , they are not allow to carry the bike bag as well.
