SilverHairsClub – some one to lead SHC in early 2010

I like to share my thoughts on the future plans of SilverHairsClub.  In two years time, I plan to relocate to Thailand to spend more time with my family.  This means I shall be here in Singapore, maybe once a year.  As such, I like to start the thinking process on the future running of SilverHairsClub and SilverHairsClub.com.  As discussed before, SHCians prefer SilverHairsClub to remain in its current format and culture.  This has been decided, and not likely to change.  To read past discussions, click here.

Do also note that SHC Corporate will proceed, and will be developed over the next two years.  This will include Blue Helmet projects.

In my mind, I would like to look for someone to lead SHC, in two years time.  If you are visible during SHC gatherings, known to members, IT smart, prepared to commit the time, accept the rules of the club and SHC culture, membership must remain free, no advertising, etc, please put your name on this thread.

If members have ideas and visions for the future, we can discuss them here, for this person to take note. Please do not send me emails on this topic.  Doubt I can manage.   We discuss here openly for members to see.  Do be sensitive to other SHCians views and comments.  This thread will remain open until then.

  1. First reaction upon reading…eyes big big and went huh…why like dat?
For me SHC is Terence or maybe the other way around.. Terence is SHC.
    MMmmm.

  2. Have ploughed thru the various threads and comments about SHC Corporate, Club/Soceity, Ownership, Leadership Renewal etc just to make sure I get the background right to follow this discussion on the SHC website; this is serious stuff and certainly warrant more attention …….. one thing for sure; this could make my hair turn silver quite instantaneuously….no need the aging process to assist this transformation.

Anyway, Terence, keep up the good (and thankless) job: “When the ship reaches the wharf, it will straighten out by itself.”

  3. Hi Terence,

……In two years time, I plan to relocate to Thailand to spend more time with my family.

Kind of SAD to see you leaving us in 2 yrs. time after what you have done so much for SHC.

Of course, your family is your 1st.priority.

  4. Hi Steven, June & Ivan,

It has been my initial desire to find a few friends to spend my later years in Thailand, which explains my initial setup plans for a SilVerHairsClub. I am eager to spend more time in Thailand, which has so much space and beauty to offer. I still am hoping to share ideas for SilverHairs in Singapore to spend 3 mth short-term living in Thailand and neighbouring countries.

I think and am seeing that there are many Event Organisers who will take the lead to maintain and even bring the SilverHairsClub to another level. Look at all the crazy writers and organisers within the club. And, we need new brains too. So, this explains my announcement of the plan.

  5. Yes, it is only healthy to pass on the baton n not hold on to it for dear life. Yes, family comes first.
But SHC is Terence and Terence is SHC!!!!…:-))) and I believe not only me think that way…:-))..

    Anyway…

One good thing abt your moving to Thailand…SHC members can go looking for you to lead us to non-tourist areas in Thailand…..I still remember the star studded sky and the shooting stars whn I was in a village which was a 9hr write away from ChiangMai….truly a sight to behold and die for!!!. Is that too much to ask? I mean getting u to lead…:-)))

Anyay, that’s 2010…Let’s enjoy NOW, the present, the gift!!!!

  6. Terence,

Have a good friend planning to retire in Thailand too…he intends a buy about two hectres of land in Chiang Rai….so quite “close” to Chiang Mai where you will be. Hope to intro him to you should an opportunity arises.

As for me, my dream is to retire in Vietnam, perhaps 10-15 years from now………of course, we can do an exchange 3 mth short-term (regional) stay for SHCians if this dream becomes reality.

Hey! with the Internet-WebCam-Skype-GoogleEarth connectivity these days, you may not need to be physically in Singapore “all the time” to “run” SilverHairsClub ….. just thinking aloud.

p/s: will be off to HCM tomorrow for a few days….

  7. Hi Terence,

Yes, family comes first… But, but wouldn’t it be ideal to have you continue as SHC’s Senior Mentor? The Founder is still the founder…

  8. I have been on the look out for someone to lead SHC and also be SHC site administrator for some time. Although the plan is to have that someone in place in 2010, I am advancing the plan to have the SHC club administrator and manager to earlier this year.

The taboos and guidelines remain. Besides my plan to spend more time in Thailand in 2010, I see this change as more variations and refreshing. Will keep you updated.

  9. Here is an announcement on the plan to take the SilverHairsClub forward. I have earlier planned to pass the position of SilverHairsClub.com administrator and club manager to a senior SHC member in 2010. However, I guess I have been successful recently in this search, and shall advance this date to 1st Qtr 2009.

To make it easier on the tasks of administrating and managing SHC, and to have fresh ideas, I have agreed to break the functions into two main responsibilities.

    1. SHC website administrator
    2. SHC Club manager

Finally, after two months, and after a long night, last night, I have agreed with Loh Yew Kwong to take over the role of SHC website administrator. YK will have SilverHairsClub.com administrator rights. He will undergo some training until end of Feb 2009, and will officially start his role on 1st March 2009, and end the term on 31 Dec 2010. Thank you Yew Kwong for the strong support in SHC.

The other role, which is the SHC Club manager role, is still at discussion stage, and I hope to have this position decided on, before end Feb 2009. Keep in touch.
