My strike rate has taken a dip in form and my R.O.I is in the red.However I still would like to prove that horse investments can make money if one has the right skills ,experience and diligent homework(research).
After a 2 week break I ‘m back with a selection for today . Tim will like this one and he will likely not be a 1st favourite.Even if one wants to play an outsider he should play one of the top 5 favourites as they come in 80% of the time.The problem with rank outsiders is not because of the 20% chances only but which one among this lot? I have tipped 3 value bets of $35 to $40 in my 7naps tipping column previously since the start of this season.
My selection (medium bet confidence) for today is Race 8 nbr 3 Ace Armada.His main rival is nbr 8 with nbr 5 the likely favourite in close contention .The others in the frame are 1-4-2.
I recommend an investment of 50 wins and 50 places on Ace Armada.

First I am not a horse racing punter, know very little about it. I buy 4D though. Some years ago, a friend came to me with some formulas. I tried to put it into a spreadsheet. The thing is to input various factors from a little booklet. I remember such things like the form of the horse, the ground etc. By keying in the values, the end result will indicate the chances of a winner. I wonder if anyone knows about this. Seems interesting.

The little booket is called RACING GUIDE, PUNTERS WAY or TURF GUIDE. Cost $3 or $4 and available at newstands and 7-Eleven stores. No need to use spread sheets to analyse the forms and factors contained in the booklet. The experts have done it for you; and for each race, they will come up with three magic numbers – supposedly (and hopefully) 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
There are other “experts” who pick the horse with a nice-sounding name, the attractive colour of the jockey’s jersey, the number on the saddle cloth etc.
WHO to believe? Don’t know. And thats why it is interesting. Spend an afternoon at the turf and start cracking. The joy of winning is not just $$$. It is a great feeling if you were to get something that the experts and “experts” did not.

I had sent emails to 4 SHC members and I had tipped another outsider(my 5th this year) and my 21st winner this season on Race 7 nbr 5 Royal Suit.I was locked(nbr locked) out of my computer so did not post in the forum.I will do the dividends and ROI later.here are some excerpts from 7naps.
There are 3 main contenders with 4 as the raging odds on favourite and 9 getting close attention as the likely 2nd favourite.Our selection today seems to be off the radar screen of the main publications as well as STC’s Winning workouts and Tracktalk programmes.Number 4 looked impressive during training and looks the classiest in the field while 9 has serious speed rating credentials and has the best sectional times among the whole field..However our selection has a superior sectional time and a comparable sectional time to nbr with the weight ahjustment of 5.5 kg.Moreover Number 5 has the best handicap and impressed the Chief Handicapper sufficiently to penalise him 9 points for an earlier win.Nbr 9 has been penalised 7 points.Number 4 has also been penalised 9 points for his last win but is poorer of in the handicaps and will not be suited by thepace

Assuming this was a medium bet confidence rating my bet on the forum would have 50 wins and 50 places.My selections in order were 5-4-9-2-8.The result was 5-4-8-9.The winning horse paid $68 for win n $16 for place .Forecast on 5-4 was $38,place forecast on 5-4 was $16,trio was $80,tierce was $482 n quartet was $1602.Since in my column I did not tip the quartet I shall not include it in the ROI but this investment would have been $48 based on style of tierce bet.
Invest $500 on 50 wins/50 place = returns $4200
Invest $72 on tierce ($36 X 2) = returns $482
Invest $40 on forecast = returns $380
Invest $100 on place forecast = returns $320

To the SHC officials and senior members I pose this question…How can we ensure this ugly episode is not repeated as I have heard from reliable sources that this type of shouting matches,implosions,verbal eruptions,verbal displays have happened before even leading to some members leaving the club for whatever reasons.Will I be the next one to be shown the exit door because I am willing to stand up to this verbal abuse and intimidation?
Clashes (differences in opinion)in the forum are inevitable but will turn ugly and lead to implosions when discussions get personal and do not discuss issues at hand and will degenerate into abuse and name calling which will not augur well to keep the friendly atmosphere of sharing which now exists as SHC culture.
Is there a mechanism to purify or edit comments when they get too personal?
I did not bother to post my selections this weekend but just as an update but not counted as my R.O.I performance on SHC forum.
04 Oct 08…I tipped Race 12 nbr 8 British Navy as a small bet of 30 wins and 30 places with exotic bets winning.My selections(forecast /trio and place forecast were correct) in order were 8-5-3 but the result was 8-3-5 with a tierce pay out of $102 for an investment as low as $4 on 8#5-3.British Navy paid juicy odds of $30 for a win(6th outsider of the season) and $15 for a place.My only regret is that I did not invest personally but indulged in MJ(I lost)
O5Oct 08 I tipped El Dorado in Race 10 which was officially scratched and I suggested a cover bet on Big Valour which duly won.I left out the 3rd place horse Big Easy in my 7 naps posting which was 1 or 5 to win followed by nbr 3. I am glad to inform the naysayers that i tipped Daniel Chan by SMS to put for forecast / tierce 5 to beat 3 followed by 4 and 2 and that is how they finished exactly( no quartet in this race).I am also glad to show a winning tierce ticket on 5-3-4 direct for 10 tickets ie a $2 x 10 tickets bet for total of $20 with a payout of $29 X 10 = $290.Anybody would like to inspect this winning ticket (more than 1)among others please ask for it on 15 Oct 08.Big Valour ended up as 2nd favourite and paid interesting odds of $15 for a win and $9 for a place.

HOW SAD that SHC is reduced to such a state, according to Pat’s lengthy revelation. And only those who were present at the scene, particularly Tim, are in a position to verify it. By Pat’s account, “implosion” is an understatement. EXPLOSION is more appropriate.
In any case, if such a display of ruckus is allowed to continue unrestrained, I guess we will have to adequately equip ourselves the next time we attend a SHC function.

I may have had a field day but that is not my purpose of making the posting to clarify that I was the innocent party to as Daniel Chan aptly puts it explosion as it had affected other members.An implosion ie by internal combustion etc will not affect other people if self-incinerated.

You have taken good advice and moved on which is good and I will support you for it.I for one still enjoy your kaypoh comments provided it does not get personal as I have mentioned previously.However in your reply you have side-stepped the issues and I have noted that there is not an iota of REGRET,REMORSE,CONTRITE FEELINGS,FEELING OF SORROW.For a person with with your pride and ego I can understand that you find it difficult to apologise for your outlandish actions that transpired on 30 Sep.at the “Gold Building.”
Can we have an outright declaration of assurance from you that such aggressive behaviour and outbursts will not happen again?

It is now the 12th day since the incident at company Clubhouse in Shenton Way. There is no apology not least an expression of regret and no reassurance that this will incident will not happen again.
People reading your comments in ref#21 might be confused and assumed I provoked you in nearly wanting to bash me up by your statement that “butty(playfully ??) hit me on the head,culminating in my wanting to bash you up.” I find it strange that you refer to me and Miss D.L. as butty.I know my butt is big but not that bad.Let me set the record straight that Miss D.L. was the one who touched you and somebody from my table uttered the magic word “Quarrel” which triggered your out of control rage.I have at least 2 witnesses who can testify that I was not the one and yet you unleashed your blind fury(aim also cannot aim properly on the right target) on the people at the MJ table especially me when I am not even the guilty person.(guilty of what …I haven’t the faintest clue of) and yet u said in ref #21 “i have forgiven you.Should I forgive you when you did not ask to be forgiven?
Since no explainations are forthcoming from you and no reassurances that this will not happen again. I will leave it to Terence to decide what is appropriate behaviour and how to avoid history repeating itself.So far there is no sign of REPENTENCE at all.Should all of this be swept aside as water under the bridge and we move on and focus on new things….I do not think so!I the aggrieved and innocent (at least for this time)party seek redress that this situation will not occur again,.To be continued…..

I like to share with you what I would secretly think of doing, if I were you. There was this guy who annoys me hell of a alot. He was very much a bully. But, I was too small, and so I was never able to wack him. Each morning, when I wake up, I would make this wish that, at random, wherever he walks, a banana skin would suddenly appear in front of him, and he would fall and have a bruised buttock or a broken elbow.
Sometimes, I think this punishment would just be too easy. So, I thought of having someone chop it off, and feed the pieces to the ducks. They would just relish it, of course, no trace.
And, if you think I am not a sadist, I have a better one. Tie him to a tree, and slowly slice off pieces of his ears. This is great satisfaction.
PatrickK, I would suggest you consider one of the above ideas. I am no policeman, although I think you have made your point, and TimL has made his point. I think inviting other members to take sides on this issue runs contrary to club’s objectives.

I really enjoyed your sense of humour and at the same time trying to put a message across to PatK. I agrees that the incident is over and overdrawn. Let’s learn to forgive and forget.
I believed that Tim has very much regreted over what have happened and feeling contrite over it. Such outburst does happened to all of us. Sometimes a person may have experince a lot of setbacks and unhappiness and the pent-up emotions is just like an accident waiting to happens!
PatK, be magnaminimous and let it go. This is the place for us to enjoy all the happenings and all the good friend that we meet! Don’t ever bring to sleep any unresolved anger or resentments else it’s fester your soul!
