  1. Dear EOs,

Could you kindly count me in too.

Only “problem” is can you pls count me out of the Seafood Dinner as I am veggie-tarian. Kindly drop me an email Silvie_1661@yahoo.com.sg so that I can let you know how I can join in for the dinner w/o eating the seafood dishes.

However if this is a hussle, then I would have to withdraw with sincere apologies.

    Tku for your kind understanding.

    Kind Regards,
    Genet

  2. helo Abel,
I want to jalan2 together, but your date 22May tak ngam!..as my fren will be taking 2wks leave lah…sob!sob!
Nonetheless, her trip not confirm yet..anything can happen…who knows…..I may have the chance?..hehe :)

Wah!…Bira yg manis!..u first to register ah?
but i don see Lily & Ahnee anywhere leh?..

    GenetLeong@4..
Not a problem lah….you eat veggies, we eat seafood beside you boleh tak?…kawan2 hor :)

  3. My dear Abel, Lily and myself are not able to co-lead this JB trip as we are not sure if we can take leave at this point of time. Nevertheless I am keen to join, but only can confirm nearer to date. So how can I be EO…..sorry lah

Nor, 22nd May still far away, cannot decide now. :(

    Ah Nee

  4. Hi There,

    1) I have received calls from members asking if it could be an overlapping Sat/Sun trip instead. But due to the nature of his job, Abel cannot take leave on both Sat & Sun. He can only take 1 of the 2 days off.

    2) Also, Abel would like to have more male participation – preferably 5 including himself.

    3) As I won’t be going on this trip, Abel is in need of assistant/s to help him do the co-ordination because he is not always at the computer. So, for those who are keen to go, would you be willing to assist?

    Volunteer/s anyone?

  5. Dear Friends

Thanks Lily, appreciate your frank comments.

Now, as two SHCians Charles Chua & Lim Tian Soo have indicated their willingness to utilise their cars for transportation, then we need just another one vehicle(SK Chua, can you please oblige) to accomondate the FIFTEEN of us. Passengers must share the petrol or parking fees, if any and perhaps for food, my suggestion is to provide for the three vehicle-drivers too.

As Lily mentioned, do really need one of you to assist in co-ordinating this tour. TOLONG, please.

    Happy Easter. Regards

    Abel Tan

  6. Hi Abel,

Tian Soo is right. He did not indicate going to this trip. I was the one who said I would go, but not by bus as I think that if we drove, we might, (or there again, we might not) see more things. I also said Tian Soo, and others, also have a car, and if he’e interested, he might drive, but all subject to discussion and confirmation.

Having cleared that I am still interested to drive up for a short trip to Mersing or BP as you suggested.

I would like to suggest if you could indicate other small towns in M’sia, other than Mersing or BP, as I think there might be others more interesting. For a start I would still be interested nevertheless. I know Paul K knows BP like the back of his hand and can recommend some places to ‘do’.

FYI my car can take 6 people, if it helps to plan.

Also I am not volunteering as an EO for this trip.

You have my tel no and we can also comm by phone if its easier.

Cheers and a Happy Easter to you in advance.

  7. Hi Tian Soo

My humble apology for completely misreading your intention. Please do come along if circumstances later
proved your availability. Going with personal cars are really not compulsory for this trip.

    Have a pleasant weekend.

    Abel

  8. Hi Charles

Appreciate your confirmation and “volunteering” your car and if Paul K can be cajoled to come along, then perhaps he can become the group’s tour-guide for Batu Pahat.

With regard to your enquiry pertaining to travelling through smaller Malaysian towns, I did co-lead 5 itineraries during the 90s. The following are to the best of my recollections:

    1. N-S Highway, at Simpang Empat junction(Melaka) go
NORTH to Karak(Pahang) after passing through two
smaller towns like the 100metres stretch of Bukit
Timah(before the current “Long” building) and up
to the Chua Chu Kang junction cum the Malayan
Railway Crossing, then stay overnight BENTONG
(Pahang) From Bentong, bypass Genting Highlands
and KL, stopover rest/lunch at KAJANG(Selangor),
then go SOUTHWEST past Sepang Airport, to PORT
DICKSON (Negri Sembilan) and stopover MALACCA,
then next day, through coastal roads via MUAR
(Johore). Optional visit to TANJONG PIAI, the
southern-most landpoint of the Asian Continent

    2. Alternative to above – from Bentong go EAST,
past through TERMELOH(Pahang) and near Kuala
Rompin about an hour before Kuantan, go SOUTH-
EAST to Pekan, then the coastal road Endau-Mersing
    (Johore), to Kota Tinggi……
Alternatively from Termeloh, go SOUTH to
    Mentakab(Pahang) to Kuala Pilah(Negri Sembilan)
    -NS Highway junction

Sorry, am pressed for time and will highlight the
other three intineraries on Monday or Tuesday.

    Do have a pleasant weekend.

    Abel

  9. Hi Norlinda #5,

You are so sweet…you want to eat seafood beside me but you still have not confirm if you are going leh.

    Kind Regards
    Genet

  10. Hi Charles Chua

Further to #17, the other three itineraries are as follows:

    3. from the North-south highway BIDOR junction go east to
Teluk Intan(overnite stay, visit leaning pagoda),
next day to Sitiawan, then north to Simpang and
at Bagan Serai go into NS-highway, then stop at
Taiping for overnight stay, then next day all the
    way home

    4. from Ipoh go south through MENGLEMBU, TRONOH, BERUAS
then west to Sitiawan, and south east to Teluk Intan
for overnite stay. from T Intan south coastal road,
through BERNAM(Selangor), PORT KLANG, MORIB and Port
    Dickson(overnite stay)

    5. after KULAI NS-highway, go to SIMPANG RENGGAM, AIR
HITAM, YONG PENG then east to MUAR (overnite stay),
next day to BATU PAHAT, PEKAN NANAS, PONTIAN, KUKUP
alternatively from Batu Pahat go east through
    KELUANG, KAHANG, MERSING (overnite stay)

Please re-checked the accuracy of above. Perhaps you can
seriously consider leading CONVOYS TO MALAYSIAN SMALL
TOWNS in the near forseeable future.

    Regards

    Abel

Pls note that we must have at least 4 men (including Abel) to go or otherwise we will have to cancel this trip even if we hit the maximum number of 16 paxs.

According to Abel, 2males with 12ladies will provide “temptation for loiterers to create problems”.

We currently have 3 cars the drivers will decide on the itinery.

Hi Norlinda & Ah Nee, very sorry but since both of you are unable to confirm your availability we have to skip your names as there are only 3 cars unless we can have one more car. Your understanding is much appreciated.

    Kind Regards,
    Genet

  19. Dear Friends

If the drivers decided on which destination (it is best to
let them decide as to which route they are more familiar with)
then my suggestion for the PICK-UP point for passengers are:

Batu Pahat – DOVER MRT station, there is a 50metres
    stretch of a bus-stop, taxi-stand and a
    pick-up point for vehicles’ passengers
    along the road towards Clementi/Jurong
East (this MRT stn caters for students
    of Dover Polytechnic)

Mersing – EUNOS MRT station, where there is a half-
    sized football-field car-park fronting
the main road Sims Avenue East, which
turning left not more than 20metres
away is Jalan Eunos and 150metres
further away, turning left is the PIE

We shall assemble at 9.30am SHARP. Incidentally, members
may wish to breakfast at above assigned pick-up points
where there are snacks kiosks(now prevalent in nearly
all MRT stations) and particularly at EUNOS, there is a
    nearby hawker-centre too.

From the Tuas and J Bahru checkpoints, it will take
approximately 2 and a half hours to arrive at either
destination. Stoppages are at the discretion of the
drivers or expressively requested by a passenger.

Please take note that extremely poor weather will delay
departure or even abort the trip, or short-cut it
half way. Passengers must cordially abide by drivers’
    ultimate decesion.

    Regards

    Abel Tan

  20. Alamak Genet, yesterday I so busy with the Teochew thread and forgot to monitor this thread…..then “kenah” kick out. Nor, apa macam….tak jadi lah. “Makan angin sudah habis”……hello CEO…EOs, can put us on hold…oops, on waiting list, can or not? :(

Pls remember to indicate your preferred pickup point & hp numbers so that I can do a consolidation of the paxs for each driver. I already have the gentlemen’s emails.

To safeguard cancellation charges with hotel we will arrange for deposit of Sin Dollars 50 per person to both hotel. (ie collect $50 upon confirmation-non refundable). Details of collection to be released later.

    Note #1
If majority opts for the 1 nite program, can still work. However it will involve rushing back from Malacca after lunch which may be rather hectic. But since most of us don’t work on Sundays so …

    Note #2
If there is good response and another car owner/s offers to drive, we can accept to increase the number of paxs. So Norlinda, Ah Nee and Pauline…don’t despair yet.

    Kind Regards,
    Genet

  22. Hi All,

Its me again…sorry for a slight mistake in my earlier post #35…should be 3D/2N.

    Start date : 22nd May 2009, Friday
    End Date : 24th May 2009, Sunday

    Kind Regards,
    Genet

  23. Dear Friends

The 3days/2nights tour as finalised above is an ultimate
choice. But due to my unavailability for the second night
stay due to work commitments on the next day 24th, I shall
depart from Batu Pahat after our lunch on the 23rd. It is no problem for me going home solo.

However, now there is a last minute appeal from Ah Nee, Norlinda and Pauline to be included in this trip. If there is no saviour with a car coming forward by the latest
15th May, Friday, then the three-musketeering ladies mentioned will accompany me, leaving by the Malacca Express
bus and we shall meet the cars-convoy by 6pm at a Peranakan
    restaurant (Mako???).

As I shall be leaving the next day, it is convenient for
me to stay in the bandar area, probably the Emerald which is within walking distance to the Malacca-Spore bus terminal. If on the other hand, Ah Nee, Norlinda and Pauline cannot be squeezed conveniently into the cars, then the four of us will share a taxi to Batu Pahat and from there proceed home by sharing again a taxi to JBaru.

Kindly take note that the acceptance of Ah Nee, Norlinda
and Pauline are the final intake.

    Regards

    Abel Tan

  24. Abel & Genet,

I am a little confuse, I thought we are going to either Mersing or Batu Pahat, how come its has changed to 3D/2N trip with overnight stay over at Malacca? An overnight trip to Johor Bahru was the original plan, right? Both places I have not been, but I have been to Malacca 3 x already. Thanks Abel for wanting to accommodate us by alternate route & transport. But I don’t want to complicate your groups planning, hence I am not going for this trip. You guys & gals enjoy! Thanks again Abel for your concern. :)

    Ah Nee

  25. Dear Friends

A few members have indicated that they just wish to visit Batu Pahat only. Thus, on the 22nd, I will lead these few participants by bus from the Larkin Terminal, which is just
    on the outskirts of JBaru.

The next day 23rd May Saturday, our small group shall be at the Katerina Hotel, Batu Pahat, awaiting the arrival of the group in the cars-convoy from Malacca in time for a
lunch-togetherness. In the event, the cars-convoy cannot arrived at the Katerina in time, then our small group will proceed home by the 2.30pm express bus.

By the way, Charles Chua have mentioned that one of the three cars and occupants may not stay overnite at Batu Pahat. Therefore, those who wish also not to spend a night at the Katerina, kindly make your views known as soon as possible, in order that the driver of the car can acknowledge accomondation in his car on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Charles, I shall appreciate very much if you or Paul K can
co-lead the group to Malacca. I can only lead to Batu Pahat, being the original itinerary planned and which will remain steadfast, for I must go home on Saturday 23rd May because the next day I shall be working on the 11am-8pm shift.

My suggestion is that this trip be moderated and finalised with an unshakeable confirmation by participants at the SHC monthly meeting on 12th May, Tuesday which I will be attending.

    Regards

    Abel Tan
