Some events for the first part of 2010

Here’s some ideas for those who are itching to be Event Organisers.  Dolly and myself discussed some ideas over the weekend.  If you have not organised an event before for SHC members, consider fulfilling this itch.  Also, a good opportunity to make an old dream come true.

  1. a Joget event, very much a popular dance in Malaysia.  Very often, performed at cultural festivals, wedding celebrations and social functions.
  2. a Prom night, good old school days
  3. Our annual Chinese New Year lunch
  4. March/annual D&D
  5. and maybe a Valentine event.

Like to give it a go?

  1. Hmm, talking about organising new activities for 2010, I notice it’s being very quiet here. I have heard quibs that I tend to pick EOs from SHCians who give suggestions to hold certain activities. Yes, pretty true, but only if you have the heart and the energy to do so.

Try organising at least one event during your membership term which is life time. And no worries if there are hiccups. It’s fun to have some disorganisation.

  2. Hi Kenneth Tan ( Indian food connoiseur )/ others ,

Remember late last yr. you hinted to me to organise Indian dinner package at “Little India”

OK. This time round you can be EO and I will be yr
Assitant E.O.for the Banana Leaf Apollo Restaurant at Race Course Rd within the vicinity of Little India for next yr. 2010.

As an Assistant E.O., I will take charge of all the $$$ Electronic ATM transfers and be accountable for it.

    You, being E.O.

    i) Pls. liase with Restaurant Mgr.what kind of customised package dinner you would like to select from the ala carte dishes for SHCians. Of coorse, NOT to miss out their speciality is Fish Head Curry. As soon as we enter the air-cond restaurant, a hot n spicy fragrant smell permeates the air. Oooumm! My saliva starts to trickle and my stomach making noise.

ii) To plan a programme and also indicated the dinner package in the SHC web site and to update it.

    Kenneth OK with you ?
Hopefully, you can accede to my request.

    PLs. respond. thanks

  3. Hahaha!! Steven

First, I’m not an Indian food connoiseur!

Second, things change… the Indian restaurant I was talking about has dropped its dinner offers as well as its standards!

Third, Apollo Bananaleaf is over-rated and expensive by my standards.

But, what can I say? With Steven volunteering to do the money-side of things, I can only volunteer my services… let’s see how things turn out later this month.

  4. Hello everyone!

If I am in Singapore and if it is not my grandma duty day, I’m usually logged into the Internet and SHC’s webpage.

Terence, is there any on-going Karaoke sessions for SHC members?

How about picnics? I know it’s not a popular activity with Singaporeans but picnics can be fun with individuals bringing their own picnic basket (food and drinks), relaxing and/or chatting in an open-air area. Possible venues – Botanical Gardens, Sentosa beaches, East Coast Park, etc.

  5. Hi Kenneth Tan,

    Thanks for yr reply.
It is not end of this yr but next yr. 2010.
Not to worry, if they don’t pay by the final date line, then I will act as a “loanshark” to scare the wits out of them into paying! Ha! ha! :)

If the event is ON next yr. , then Terence will have 1 less panadol to consume.

  6. #6 Yew Kwong,

Thank you for your suggestion. If everyone’s bicycle has an ‘auntie’ basket attached, then the cyclists can put their picnic stuff in it. But as I see it, most of the cycling enthusiasts do not have that basket…hahahaha

I can cycle but I have phobia about cycling along the roads.

Ending a cycling session with a picnic sounds nice I suppose but you’ll have to see if the others think it is a good idea or not leh.

    Cheers,
    Ros

U are assured of our gang (at least 10) coming wif their own bikes. We have ways to transport food n can always get help from those who drive to assist. This will keep our hands away from putting them in our tummies b4 we can reach destinated picnic location.

If u wld allow, let’s help u to rid your phobia. Come n cycle wif us regularly, we will make your cycling experience different.

  8. Yew Kwong, I will be away on the 21st of this month. If my travel plan for December does not clash with the next cycling event, I will join you guys. :)

  9. I think something is wrong with my posting, got to borrow yours now as I’m organizing a free hair perming or wash n blow for the ladies only,it could be for yr maids too. (Guys may be next time) interested? contact me soonest.
This is no MLM or money making, just by chance, some goodies for the girls.

  10. How about a New Year party at Marine Parade CC. I need at least 100 pax to run the function, if it is going to be strictly for SHC members, we can have Line Dance, Social dance a bit of fun and games. No frills or fanciful stuff. We can call it a “Tea Dance” if we hold it on a sunday afternoon, or a buffet dinner dance but CC closes at 2200hrs. Maybe we have a lunch jam. Anyone interested to take the order. Start time can be arranged but end time must be 2200hrs latest. We can start at 1500hrs till 2100hrs. May I know what you all have in mind any takers!!!
