  2. Dear members #1-6,

Thank you for supporting me in my first debut as EO for a small gathering. This is encouraging for me to take a step further in planning events of a different nature.

For a refreshing change, plans to have a rejuvenating short trip, be it a rest & relax escapade to an island resort, or just a fun-filled adventurous trip in one of our neighbouring countries is in the pipeline. You’ll be updated via email in this regard.

Look forward to see some of you patronising “Shanghai Castle Nightclub” next Sun.

    Cheers!

  3. Dear Ladies #8-10,

Appreciate your kind support & participation.

Look forward to meeting one another for chats since most of us are tied down with our deskbound jobs.

    Cheers!

  4. Hi Sue,
Thanks for organising the 1st Northern-North-East-Eastern zone event. As it is still quite a few more weeks to go, can only firm going at a nearer date. Hope it’s ok with you.
    Regards,
    Ivan

So Steven, that makes two of us haha!

  8. Dear members #12-20,

Welcome to our 1st get-together in an ambience where you can really unwind & relax in a cosy corner with beanbags to comfortably tuck us in. With good response from fellow members, arrangements has been made with TCC to allow us in taking half of their floor, hence, this thread will close once a max. of 35 pax is attained.

    Hi Ivan #14,

Perfectly alright to let me know later if you’re able to join us, can always squeeze a seat for you!

Hi Clarice & Pat Lee #15,

My good Siow-Tee, you’ve been MIA for a long time. Great to have your participation with Clarice.

    Hi Steven #17,

I do not restrict members from other zones to join us. You’re welcome, as you can see, your name is already registered.

    Cheerio!

  9. Hello Ah Kor,

At last I hear from you in Telok Blangah! Thought you had too much indulgence in cycling, with no time off to enjoy small bites of these finger food, and why not, on a “Chap Goh Mey”, right!

Will meet again next Sunday evening!

  10. Hi Clarice & Pat Lee #15,

Having checked thru’ the name list, I reckon I must’ve mistaken you for another couple I’ve known more than a year ago. My apologies for mistaken identity…ha

Look forward to meeting you both at this event.

    Cheers!

  11. Hi Chin Boon,

Yes, you’re welcomed to join us. Appreciate your support. Will see you at the “Shanghai Castle Niteclub” next Sun.

    Hi Anna,

Appreciate your participation too. See you soon, my Dear!

*** A big Thank You to above participants in your spontaneous response as I’m able to close this thread earlier than the deadline projected.

    Cheers to all !

  12. Hi Clarice, Pat Lee, SueTan Seok Wah & Jonson Tan,

Could you please drop me an email @ onlysue@gmail.com,as I need to give you an update with regard to our High Tea get-together.

Jonson~~ your emailbox is full liao..wouldn’t want to ‘accept’ mine, just got ‘thrown out’ of your emailbox!

    ~~ Thanks!

  13. Dear members,

Let me express my Sincere THANKS to all members who were present at TCC this afternoon. I’m extremely delighted to have 33 vibrant attendees although a few members were unable to join us.

You’re all amazing members who shared different topics of conversation and with the exchange of humorous jokes, it certainly kept us awake the whole sunny afternoon. A handful of us were just too reluctant to leave the premises till 7pm!

Hopefully our attractive Newbies, Irene Cheah & Pauline Ho, as well as members like Alicia Lim, Alfred & Sarah, trust you folks did enjoy the warmth & liveliness of a happy bunch of people surrounding you, since you did ‘MIA’ for quite a while…

Before concluding, I would like to thank Agnes, Lilian & Irene Seet for assisting me in the collection of $$, and Jeff, King Seng, Sockie & Boon Liang, for all the wonderful candid shots captured with your cameras!

Give yourself a pat on your back ~~ without your relentless support, it wouldn’t be possible to create a fun & lively Gathering!

StevenC ~ perhaps you can consider as EO and hold an event at same premises where full support can be assured from all of us too?

    ~~ Cheers to all!!

  14. Hi Pretty Sue

Thank you, Sue. You are such a great EO – introducing us to each other and making us comfortable and feel welcomed. Appreciate all your effort, great job!

  15. Hi Sue and Jeff

It was such a lovely afternoon in the company of sociable and open members who were able to discuss anything and everything. It was certainly fun and I had a great time. Not to mention delicious selection of makan kecil. I too enjoy the fragrant tea recommended by the staff.

It was my pleasure to help out with counting the $$$ but sincerely thankfully Irene and Lilian were there to help out too.

And Sue, being the gracious hostess, checking out that each and everyone were comfortable and taken care and Jeff for making sure that everything runs smoothly.

    Kam Siah

    Cheers
    Agnes

  16. This morning one of my colleagues asked me if I was feeling the Monday blues. I said NO, I feel fantastic.

    Sue
It was definitely bec of the lovely time I had yesterday….thanks.
U are indeed the perfect host!!!

  17. Hi Sue & Jeff

Thank you so much for organizing another funfilled event on Sun… (W_W)

From the warm hugs (from Sue only la).. (^.~) to the introductions to other members as well as everyone present at the function; have made me feel very at ease and comfortable in their companies.

I have indeed thoroughly enjoyed myself and got to meet more SHCians who are equally great in sharing their jokes and stories… esp one on his attempt at organizing a food hunt at a last minute decision and also on how to detect who belongs to one particular dialect group… (^o^)

Have laughed so much that last nite, I’ve trouble finding the right facial cream that can help “iron out” those laugh lines caused by all these jokes… (>_<)

Am indeed looking forward to attending more of SHC’s activities and at the same time, am also searching for a strong “anti-wrinkle” cream that can help undo all the “damages” that come with it.. (~_~)

Another one got good recommendation(s).. (?_?)

    Cheers – Pauline ^.^

  18. Hi, sweet Sue, You forgot to mention Yours Truly in your appreciation list above. Guess it’s the case of “gather new names and discard old names” as someone said huh. Anyway, thanks for being a part of Charlie’s Angels along with CatY and Alicia and kept me entertained with your gay… I mean, happy, talks, just as Steven happily flanked by cool dukes Thomas and Charles on the cosy cusion chair. Any attempt to suggest a change of position was therefore met with strong resistance. Also for the introduction of Irene Cheah, Paluline Ho etc, esp Judy Lim who personally cleansed my greasy fingers from the messy strawberry cakes. So how not to remember her? June Lim was full of fun feeling out the two heads of the 5 hylam-kor as initiated by AndrewK, including your chubby-Ex whose memory down the lane you are so attached to, and Jonson who I found out was my former bank’s client some 20 years ago. What ensuing story he could tell thereafter.

Sorry I didn’t order the set meal as the sight of those sweet cakes put me off after my late2 lunch. I have to diet and watch my waistline so as to keep as trim as you fair ladies.

And thanks for your warm hug. You deserve all the “yo chee mak kim kim” and the thick pile of hard cash collection for your work done. Too bad you turned down my request to walk down the aisle…I mean, stairway at the end of the day, although a petite lady ‘volunteered’ to take your place but quickly backed off after the cheering and encouragement from the back-bencher.

All in all, it was FUN afternoon, albeit All Talk and No Action.

  19. Hi Sue

This was the first meeting where we can be so relaxed sitting on bean bags which were so comfortable and the palce so cosy that most of us seem quite reluctant to get up and leave hahahaha.

Next time if we do go there for meeting, maybe we can extend the time and bring some games card/board games to play and turn the place upside down ^0^

    Sockie

  20. “…………so relaxed sitting on bean bags…….that most of us seem quite reluctant to get up and leave..”

The longer one sits on bean bags, the more beans one spills and the longer one takes to clean up. So isnt it better to sit on durian bags to keep one more alert and feeling to reactions?

    Heee……………

  21. Dear Chin Boon,

How could I’ve omitted the name of a ‘White Knight’ especially when the term ~ ‘all members’ was highlighted in #31… Secondly, I assumed you would prefer to take a seat in the ‘back stage’ when you shunned yourself away from the cameras clicking at your direction eh? Fret not, I will meticulousy select the best candid shots captured if any, before publicity..

Anyway, very gracious of you to join us that day and its obviously a better choice than being a ‘Couch Potato’ at home!

Meanwhile, I’m contemplating a short talk to be included in our next get-together in another conducive environment; and invite members to share their thoughts/suggestions by forwarding it to my emailbox.

    Thank You!

  22. Hi Chin Boon @38,

    You used to be v.quiet.
Suddenly spurt into 5th gear. with so many comments. V. good. We need more members like you to be more vocal but within limits…

Any attempt to suggest a change of position was therefore met with strong resistance. ( Not True ) Sue Chan suggested all of us change places after every 1/2 hr. so that we can interact with the rest of the SHcians.

However, you were very reluctant to move as you were “mesmerized” by the 3 Charlie Angels………

  23. My, My, so formal a reply to my humourous observation of that afternoon where you excelled as hostess. It almost choked me lah. Sorry, kiddo, I’m not used to such formality and I’ve never known you to be such a lady. Looks like reality precedes over romantic link huh…….

Thank YOU – in advance for your forthcoming conducive environment!

  25. Sockie, why this fanatic admiration for my kar chng leh? Since yr whetting on the bean bag, you hv now become a serious contender for the Most Hum-Hum-Sup-Sup Award. I certainly back you for that, hehe.

Dont envy the toughness of my kc, you too can have one to carry. Let it take a lot of UV light and there’s no better way than to take it direct from the sun. Which means from now on, expose it………..suntec, shenton way, orchard road wherever. If the polis checks on you, tell them why and tell them I told you so.

You hv my wishing you the best and my guarantee for success in doing what the liberated bold will consider an excess.

  26. Apologize as i went without registration. Once again, greatly appreciat to my sweetie EO – Sue Chan to let me have a beautiful & enjoyable weekend. Well, Chin Boon, it’s so polite for u to say it lol. I only give my helping hand to those in need & you are really such a emotional guy to remember my name.

    Judy

  27. Dear Judy,

You made an extreme effort to drop by for High Tea that sunny afternoon, and that shows how supportive you’re, my dear! Instead, I should be thankful that your goodself and other Eastern members did join that day, as I was rather sceptical in meeting the headcount as targeted.

It is indeed a motivation for me to hold future events with continuous support received from both the Eastern & Western zones.

    Thank You!!

  28. The website banner photo has been changed. I love to make m job easy. Anybody can give the names of the 3 SHCians chatting away during the “North Zone high tea event” in the banner picture?

Do refresh your browser if you cannot see a new picture.

    Terence Seah

  29. Dear Terence,

This nice shot was captured during a High Tea chat we had on Feb 28th, 2010. Allow me to make a formal introduction: Only lady in picture is graceful Pat Lee, with Alfred Ang in the middle, and Wong Hong Jeng listening with awe!

    Cheerio!
