  1. Hi Ros,

    You’re quick in responding!

Thanks for your kind support. Look forward to having a chat with you as I did not get to meet you on that Cabaret event.

    Cheers!

  2. #3 Catherine Yeo,

Catherine, I got wind of this lunch today and was at my computer, logged into SHC website so the minute Sue posted this thread I was all ready to register. heheheehe

EO Sue, is there a dress code? Got to make Terence wear the traditional Chinese costume. :p

  3. Hi SusanC and Jeff,

Thank you for this initiative to do a Chinese New Year lunch. I was not able to find a suitable venue; but it looks like you have found one on a busy occasion such as Chinese New Year. Indeed, the menu looks tempting too.

Yes, I hope more members can make known their interest to participate so that the organisers can do the necessary reservation.

Do remember the mandarin oranges, ang pows, bear hugs and
    paying respect to seniors.

Ros, I wont be able to make this occasion, as I will be travelling.

    Terence Seah

  4. Hi Sue Chan,

Thank you for organising this value for money CNY lunch. We want to “yum seng” & “huat huat huat” with fellow members. Please include Lina Ng, Rene Leong, Suzhang, Marilyn Tang & myself for this luncheon.

Also can you tentatively reserve a seat for Michael Tan first, pending his confirmation due to his busy schedule? Xie Xie!

    Ah Nee

  5. Hi Sue

Rosalind told me about this event… Pls add me in. Thanks.

Seems like we’ll meet even earlier than at the North Zone Gathering… (^.^)

    Hi Ros

Have checked and found that my family gathering is on another day so can join you liao. Pls remember to “park” a RESERVE sign on the seat next to you ya (if your offer still stands…kekeke..) (^.~)

    Cheers – Pauline

  6. Dear members #3~15,

Thank you for all your kind support. Another appropriate time to get-together at a totally different venue for a group luncheon.

    Dear Thomas #16,

No issue..there’s always another time to get-together for drinks or snacks. Thanks!

    Dear Maggie & Albert,

    Appreciate your kind support too!

Dear Teochew Ngiah Jie Ah Nee,

Glad to have you & your buddies support, will ‘huat huat huat’ together! Hmmm…wonder where is Sam Ah-Huat now, just called out his name..Ah-Huat, ai lai bo? Call along Dolly and Lily Ho, only once a year, all of us can ‘Lo Hei’ together for ABUNDANCE OF JOY & LUCK!

Calling Lily & Dolly, in case Ah-Huat busy with his ‘kopi business’, wanna join us for more fun & laughter….

    Dear Judy Lim,

Thanks for your support with Karen Lim. Will meet you both on that day too!

** Dear members, as Terence has suggested its still our Chinese Tradition to exchange mandarin oranges, do bring along if you can. Secondly, I’ve edit Co-EO Jeff Lim’s savings account number for the necessary payment transfer. Thank You!

  7. Hi Judy #24,

Thanks for highlighting the error. Much appreciated.

    Dear Members,

As much as I would like to organise more than 3 tables, but was informed by Restaurant that they’ll be giving us a Partition Room, with 2 big round tables reserved for us.

My apologies as I need to close this registration and do seek your kind understanding.

Thank you very much for your overwhelming support~!!

  8. Sue Chan

May I be on the waiting list in case someone withdraws?
I haven’t been logging on much as I have been very occupied with my granddaughter. I came to know about this only just now.
    Hope I can participate.
    Thanks

  9. Dear Mary,

Noted your request. Sure to put you on wait-list when you’re so supportive. Thanks!

    Dear Ros #3,

Apology that I’ve overlooked your query as regards to dress code for this New Year Luncheon. Guess it would be better to leave it to members’ discretion, but to wear an attire in ‘all black’ during this ‘Tiger’ year is considered ‘taboo’, according to the chinese almanac, where certain superstition applies.

    Cheers!

  10. Dear Pauline #20,

Yes, I will be meeting you 2 days in a row! Greatly appreciate your kind
    support at most events.

    Dear Eyvonne #22,

Thanks for participating. You give extremely good support at every event
    too!

    Hello Richard #23,

Nice to hear from you again. Will meet & dine in the ‘Tiger’ Year!

    Cheers to all!

  11. Walau eh, Sue-Chan, your menu very the good leh……..got snow pear polar bear somemore. And with Teochew-Thai snapper, even Teochew Thai Terence will snap. Finally, all diners will get to pan fry the chef with special sauce……..all for $22. No wonder full house so quickly hor.

Nvm, the cinemas will be screening a movie in honour of your name……except that he’s beardedly handsome and a pugilist, not pretty and a good dancer like you.

Yes, I am talking abt Zhou Wen Chouk as Soo Chan

  12. Hi Sue

We spoke yesterday that I will join. Sorry i was late in log in to sign in. Am i too late??? We spoke on the phone yesterday so I am not sure whether you already count me in???since respond is so good, you wana have another table???

  13. Hi Sue

Hear your calling. Sorry for the late response as I am unable to login during working hours.

Needless to say, sure will support lah. However, Dolly will be in China at that time, so won’t be able to join us but I know her heart will be with you all the way.

Thanks for your effort in organising. Pretty, sweet, friendly, capable, efficient and reliable – all the making of a good EO. How to resist leh….heehee. :)

  14. Weiwei Lily, thanks 4 letting Sue noe dat I will be China.

Hi Sue, Sam Huat told me 2 infm u dat he cant attend oso cos he said he nid 2 go oversea wor.. but not 2 Haikou lor.. Cheers.. Dolly

  15. ~~ Dear Members,

DO NOT TRANSFER YOUR PAYMENT YET, as there’s a possibility this luncheon may change to DINNER instead, owing to overwhelmed response.

Watch out for this thread, I will update by 6pm today.

    Thank you for your patience.

  16. Dear Irene,

Your payment is noted with thanks. Do let us know if you’re still keen to attend this dinner instead of lunch as scheduled..

    Thanks!

  17. Dear Ann Lim,

Noted your payment with thanks too! Do advise me if you’re still available for dining instead, otherwise, will make the necessary refund.

Thank you, Ann, you’re always very supportive in SHC events!

    Cheers!

  18. Hi Sue/Jeff

I have transferred $44.00 for Albert and myself before reading the above thread to the poss of changing to dinner. No problems for us for dinner.

  19. ~~~ ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL MEMBERS ~~~

The restaurant has agreed to my request to host this gathering as our REUNION DINNER instead of lunch, at the same price of S$22.00 nett per person, with free flow of chinese tea, with no corkage charge imposed if you should bring along your ‘Chadonnay, Chateau Sauvignon or Cordon Bleu to share with fellow drinking partners!

Having negotiated for a partition room able to accomodate 50 PAX, a maximum of only 5 tables; members are urged to register latest by FEB 10th, 2010. Members who’ve registered as above, you need not do so, as I will shift your names to the ‘Dining Table’ instead. However, those who’re UNABLE to make it for DINNER, please advise me accordingly.

Apologies for this sudden change. Your kind understanding is greatly appreciated!!

    Cheers to all!

  20. Hi Charles & Jonathan,

Appreciate your support. Look forward to a good toast with you too!

    Hi Kim Leong,

Thanks for your prompt payment. Did sms Jeff earlier, as he’s currently back to his ‘2nd home in BKK’. See you soon.

    Cheers!

  21. Hi Sue

Am ok with dinner too. Pls see my email sent earlier today as my bank has a box asking for one additional info to complete the bank transfer.

    Thanks – Pauline Ho

  22. Hi Pauline,

As regards to your question on the additional info required, I’d email Jeff, who is in the best position to advise you.

    See you soon!

  23. Hi Ann,

Already registered above attendees. Are you coming along?

**my home pc is currently down with ‘flu’, Jeff will assist to edit where necessary.

    Thanks!

  24. Just got a call from Shirleen to register 2 seats for herself and Dennis Wee, making a total of 49, one final call for the 50th pax!!

Thank you to all members who are so spontaneous!

  25. Hello Ronald,

Thank you Ron, you hit a ‘big jackpot’, just before I log off from this website!

Will now hand over to Jeff for his collection of $$$$..

A Big THANK YOU to all members~~!!

    Cheers!

  26. Hi Sue

FYI, Jeff has replied my email and I have completed the remittance this morning. Hopefully it works as it’s my 1st attempt at Online Banking… (>.o<)”

Got a receipt # 001-2809315 and not sure if Jeff needs this to check… (hmmmm???)….

Wonder if everyone’s 1st attempt at internet banking is as nervous as mine.. or I’m the only “sotong” lagging behind in this high-tech world ???.. (?.?)

    Cheers – Pauline

  27. Wow, target achieved in less than 24 hours ! With a menu so good, price lagi better and still inside the CNY 2010 season, this “full-house so quickly” isntt surprising.

So, I will wait a longer wait – for next year’s. A longer suspense knowing not the outcome so early is more shiok.

So, Thomas-L, wanna withdraw this 2010 wait and queue with me for 2011? The number “2011” looks nice….at least you see 2 batangs standing tall there and side by sside, not one lonely batang watching one hole in front and another at the back.

    Hehee………

  28. Thomas-L, assuming we stand by the table to serve, what do we get? Ang pau? What if we screw up with the food? Not only no ang pau but kena scolding till face ang ang, mee chi chi.

Why dont we do a coup on them?

Dont think they have paid a deposit yet so restaurant is free to sell to the highest bidder. Offer the restaurant $6 more to $28/pax. Lucky number somemore, restaurant sure want one……they also get to earn an extra $300.

Then hor, we sell the 5 tables back to Sue/Jeff for $38/pax. Add a sweetener – 10 big sweep tickets as lucky draw. If still not enough, no problem, you do some danzing for them. Like that they sure want one.

We split the $470 earned without sweating. I go cabaret pom cha pom with the chics, you go carousel orr bei som with the kids, hehee……..

  29. No need so troublesome.

You can also organise another CNY dinner on 20 or 21 Feb 2010. I am sure there will be some restaurants who can offer similar menu at a similar or better price.

  30. Steven-N, nah. Too lazy to scour for another joint when one is already found for us. Just do some negotiation and $ in pocket liao, no sweat. You can join us, we split 3 ways.

Sue/Jeff, no worry hor, where got potong jalan like that one? You folks do please enjoy yourselves…it’s a really good time to celebrate and wish each other a great year ahead, tiger or lion.

My immediate headache is, how much angpau to give my nephew for his wedding dinner. Some say blood is thicker than water so $2 can clready lah……but I dunno whether blood is thicker than skin and if not, will have to find some thicket to hide.

  31. Dear Thomas,

Already registered you on wait-list liao…but am not sure if Tim still wants to be on ‘queue’ too??

    Hello Seok Cheng,

3 of you ladies are already on stand-by too!

    Cheers!

  32. Hi Dear Sue,

Thanks. Hope that I will able to pay you on the day itself. As for Mr Tim, it’s better for him to reply personally. Good nite !!

    Cheers !!

  33. Thank you Sue and Thomas.

No, me not queueing……..ah knees too weak and wobbly. If there’s a confirmed seat not taken up, I’ll take it otherwise will reunite with the rabbit if it’s destined to be so.

  34. Dear Ros #74

Thank you for highlighting that typo error, guess I need to check on my ‘flowery eyes liao…

    Dear Thomas,

Am sure Jeff will make an exception for you, cos’ he’s appointed as the Treasurer…not an issue..~~

    Dear Tim,

Your reply noted. Do take care of your pair of ‘wobbly knees’, you may need a walking stick, my friend!

    Cheers!

  40. Hi Sue/Jeff Lim,

Hi Tim, you may buy this lucky 4 digits ( 4884 ) for 4D for the next draw.
Sounds good in Canto dialect. ” Die Prosper…Prosper …. until Die. “

  41. Haha, Steven-C, lei sor kap ong goi huh, sandwiching prosperity between 2 deaths? Btw, my 1887 was quite close to the 1st prize winning number of 3887……87 was the year that hit me hard btwn the legs, so to speak.

Sue-C, I too will put up a table on the open field facing the restaurant for the waitees, filling the seatss up with effigies. They will only come to life if they dont get to take a seat inside. Needless to say, the menu will all be vegetarian…………

Pawn yr dogs, mortgage yr apartment, ask yr gf to work harder, tell the ah mong sans to lend you all they have; in short, find all the money you can and then go humtum big. With the money made, you can buy over temasek, microsoft.

  49. Correction Sue.

For Dan and Joy, somehow I pressed the button three times, the number 4 keep coming out instead of the zero.

Well, this may be easy to ‘forget me not’!

    Dan

  50. ~~~ *** Latest Update *** ~~~

A gentle reminder to the remaining 7 members who’ve not made their payments, please do so before the deadline on next Wed Feb 10th to confirm your participation.

Your co-operation is sought, in view of 8 members on wait-list..

    Thank you!

  51. Hi Sue,

You have 8 persons in the waiting list. Is it possible to book another table as Jane Ong is interested in the Lunar New Year Reunion Dinner?

    Thanks
    Susan Tan Seok Wah

  52. Hi Sue,

According to the waiting list including Jane Ong it should be 9 persons altogether.

Cosidering if all the persons paid for the dinner, how about booking another table to cater for all of us?

    Thanks,
    Susan Tan Seok Wah

  53. Hi Seok Wah,

For your info, a private room is allocated for SHC and can only accomodate 5 tables due to space constraint. There’s a possibility to seat 11-12 pax per table, and this can only be confirmed by next week.

Meanwhile, I will add Jane Ong to the wait-list, pending further updates on Feb 10th, 2010.

    Cheers!

  54. Dear Sophia & Chris Chan,

As mentioned above #113, a maximum of 12 pax to a table may be possible, but to add in more members to the waitlist, each table will be extremely ‘squeezy’, causing some discomfort to members who registered earlier.

As much as the EOs would like to include more tables, but given the partition room, we’re unable to accede to further requests.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused. Your kind understanding is very much appreciated!

  55. Haha, Sue-C, so you got your hands full. Hopefully, it portends well for a year of abundance, opulent with money in yr hands, a harbinger of good things to come…..not monkeys in yr hands which climb all over you, hehe.

Btw, a table has 2 sides of the same size. Dont waste the underside. Optimisse its use and then another 50 can join in altho these late-comers will have to eat a bit less than comfortably but more than compensateed with good views. Who koows, doing so might give some ideas to our urban planners who are tasked to make underground living a realitty. Kickstart it for them otherwise they will get a kick on the butt for not having any ideas.

  56. Dear Members on Wait-List**

Pleased to inform the Restaurant is able to allocate 12 pax to a large table for this Reunion Dinner, and the EOs will now declare this thread as officially CLOSED, with no further registration.

Could the above 10 members who’re now confirmed with a seat, please make your transfer to Jeff Lim’s account by Feb 25th Feb.

Trust all members are in the best position to understand and accept this final arrangement, and let’s all ‘Lo Hei’ together towards another roaring ‘SHC’ Year with abundance of genuine friends, joy, good fortune & Happiness!

    ~~ Cheers to everyone!! ~~

  57. Hi Sue,
Just received a call from Dan Huang that I have to apologise to you for booking the same place same time for my Lo Hei Dinner personal ‘Travelling Group’. It is not ethical to use the same restaurant as there is a EO for SHC function and thus I must seek your permission to use this location. Sue, are you still the EO?

    Paul

  58. Hi Paul,

Sue has done a great job as the EO in getting all those on the wait-list to join in. Since your group is having your dinner on the same day and time, commom courtesy dictates that she should be inform!

We understand that your group will be seated in another part of the restaurant. It would be good that the whole SHC community can be seated together but because of space constraint.

    Dan

  59. Hi Paul #122,

Am not the only EO organising this ‘lo hei’ dinner, there’s Jeff Lim assisting me as Co-EO cum Treasurer.

Your gracious act in organising a similar dinner for your ‘travelling group’ should not be overlooked, since the EOs are unable to accomodate more than 60 pax! The discretion lies entirely with the restaurant to allocate you a table if available, and at a price they deem right.

Feb 27th is the 14th day of our Lunar New Year. The EOs are armed with magnanimity, and with the assemblage of SHC members at the same restaurant & time, we shall unanimously celebrate this auspicious occasion together. Hence, do feel free to ‘knock’ on our doors and say ‘hello’!

    Sue & Jeff (EOs)

  60. Well, well, what shall I do now?

Dan-H is my butty, Paul-K too is my butty which makes me their butty as well. But I have also obliged another butty Danny Paulsen to attend his invite for dinner, as luck wd have it, at the same place, same time, to celebrate his first CNY after his converssion to a Chinese. I cant say no to him so I will go. I am getting a bit hunch-back so will have to stand straight which means I will be seen. How?

Seriously, I dont see Paul-K’s organising a dinner for his SHC interest group, which coincides in date, time and venue with another SHC event, as an issue.

Plainly, Sue-C has done her best to accommodate as many as the private room allows so kudos to her. For Paul-K to choose the same restaurant which serves value for $ food on the last CNY 2010 day is not to demean Sue-C’s efforts or disrespectful to her.

Come come my friends, if you see me on that day, have a break. Have a kit-kat……. have a fromage frais from me………

  61. #118 Sue Chan,

If the restaurant’s tables are big enough to accomodate 12 pax in one table without the diners having to knock each others’ elbows when eating, I’m fine. :p

    Gong Xi Fa Cai!!!

    Ros

  62. Dear Ros,

Allow me to share with you that its indeed a tedious task to assume as EO, if we are to satisfy the needs of every individual member. I’m sure you would attest to what I say if you’ve experienced it before..

Having dealt with several issues thats UNCALLED for, the EOs need to repeat & request members’ KIND understanding if the restaurant should fail to comfortably seat all 58 members, excluding the 2 EOs.

    XIN NIAN KUAI LE!

    Sue & Jeff (EOs)

  63. #127 Sue Chan,

Indeed I understand how you feel, negotiating for a good price that others will never be able to get, reminding and reminding those who registered to pay up and stressing right from the start the max pax to no avail. Look at Terence’s thread on the Thailand trip. He already stated he wanted 16 max but there are so many members keen to go. How? THAT is the headache for all EOs…accomodating members.

If Paul can get tables at the same restaurant, maybe that’ll lessen your headache. Then you won’t kana gatecrashers. :p Hehehee…..

50 members is a big group plus those on the waiting list, it’s a mammoth task to handle indeed.

I’m sure all the members attending this dinner appreciate your effort.

    Cheers
    Ros

  64. Hi Sue,

Thomas mgr from the crab restaurant called to informed me that my confirmed booking made 2 weeks ago could be honoured. Reason: He was just informed that you and I are 2 different group of the SHCian family. Thanks for the update.

    With regrets,

    Paul

PS, Received your personalised CNY Greeting e-card.
Happy New Year to you and your group of SHCian.
    Enjoy your Dinner,

  65. I got a call, that there’s a twist to the plot and that the fill facts werent revealeed in the earlier exchanges. Suffice it to say that if it’s thru the goodwill bwtn A and B that a special rate is given to B then it’s not good for C to use B’s name to ask for that special rate from A.

Anyhow, it looks like all’s well ends not in a wail but well, and everybody will have a happy dinner at a restaurant selling famous crabs, with no crappy aftertaste. If there’s unfinished crabs, do bugus them and not throw at each other, or worse, try to revive the crabs.

Danny Paulsen and I have decided to eat roti prata at Tekka’s Mamah Mia on that day.

  66. Well Said, Ros Dear!

If only some members are as pragmatic and appreciative as you, SHC will, undeniably, be the best platform to meet GENUINE friends. Sad to say, this is not so, due to some braggarts who chose to ‘blow their trumpets’ and form a clique to dishonour others!

Guess we need to avoid ‘taking the stage’ for now..

    Cheers!

  67. Hi Che Che Sue Chan @127,

Your TCC post is closed and no comments can be posted.
As such I am using this Reunion post to hilight some pointers which will give you less stress and headache.

To save time collecting from each of us ( >20 pax ) on that day 28th Feb and since your TCC event at Raffles Place comes with a FIXED set menu, why not gives us your bank account no for us to remit the exact amount of #13.80 ++ or nett? This saves yr time collecting money on the spot.

I , for one will prefer e-transfer and enjoy my time at the event. To pay in advance or on that day , we still have to pay. So no big deal right.

Those who order more drinks and food on their own will have to pay the cashier separately. ” Kum yong Moe Tau Thooong ” in Canto Dialect.

I too agreed with Rosalind as long as you can squeeze all of us comfortably without touching elbow to elbow is fine for me.

Looking 4ward to meet you and others at the R.Dinner n TCC.

    My 8cts.worth,

  68. Sorry to borrow your thread Sue & Jeff but I was searching for the caption ‘Valentines – ideas anyone?’ and did not have the patience to scroll down further. (Patience, regrettably is not one of my virtues)

TimL – Fyi I do not need to be ‘strapped, squeezed and bundled’ into any catwoman suit as I have no wish to be seen in one. I will also have you know that I can fit into my clothes without aid, thank you very much for your concern. Maybe its about time you think about filling up those loose pockets of material hanging on your clothes? My advice is quit smoking and you will find those loose materials filling up nicely and quickly! Unwarranted advice evoked? Seems the norm these days……

  69. Dear Tim,

There is much speculation that nothing is wrong having your group lunar dinner on the same date, same time and same venue. Pure coincidence?

I know what it mean to be an EO, having ‘to bang my head on the wall’ each time. Sue, after much urging decided to take on this arduous task of organising the dinner. A lot of time is spend sourcing for a place which suit our budget. Negotiation is in place to ensure we get a good deal.

Permission or apologies is not required here but an effort to inform the EOs, that will certainly clear the air of apprehension!

    Dan

  70. #132 Steven Chan,

Oi, Steven! My remark at #126 was said tongue-in-cheek lah. After all the effort Sue made, surely we won’t ‘ngau ngau chum’ on an auspicious gathering!! :p

  71. Dear Dan-H,

I know you for at least 2 years now. You have always stood for fairplay, and, to borrow what lawyers like to say, not only want justice done but want it be seen as done. You’re my good friend and I believe will remain so till one of us goes into the long box and throws away the key. Even then, not before we have a long, tight hug.

Like yr previous volunteering as a EO, Sue-C has done remarkably well in organising this Reunion Dinner, in securing a good date and a good price for good food. Even tho I aint attending it, I give her my kudos (not, “bones” in mandarin). No doubt the attendees have even more reason to appreciate her efforts.

That however should not preclude another member from organising a similar event even if it’s on the same day. It’s not a case of MadDonald setting up shop next to and competes with DonaldMad to draw crowds to its crab meat hum-chim-pan.

But, it must certainly raise a frown if one has used another’s contact, goodwill or relationship to gain some advantage, without this other person knowing it and agreeing to it.

Anyhow, the water must have resumed its flow again under the bridge so what folks shd now do is to try to catch some fish – pek tor – swimming in the waters to usher in a good year.

Cat-Y (no “Dear” for you since you nvr address me “dear”), surely, you must be able to fit into yr clothes without aid otherwise you wd hv been the first to hire a husband to wear clothss for you (which is easy) and to take them out for you (here, it’s harder), hehe.

“those loose pockets of material hanging on your clothes”? See, you too can be very humpsup if you want to.

Today it’s the best time of the year as it signifies the beginning of the end of a long holiday season, from welcoming Xmas to sending off CNY. Then, a new year begins and for me, it’s the start of a gruelling time. Thanks, most sincerely for yr concern, but it’s ttough to quit at this juncture….unless there’s motivation.

It’s still very uncertain which direction the economy heads – with the PMI, Baltic Dry Index etc- swinging wildly…….the paper loss of GIC isnt another happy news to read.

Whateever, may I wish you and yr darling Cxxl, a Very Happy and Good Year ahead and may it also be a Great Wish Fulfilling year.

    tim

  77. Hi Sue and Jeff,

It’s very nice of both of you to bring together SHCians together at the Lunar New Year reunion dinner. I would have loved to join the dinner; but have to get moving with my work.

I hope everybody will still maintain the traditions of Lunar New Year, and that we can continue to do so year after year. Dont forget to take pictures, wear red, bring oranges, practise the bear hugs if everybody is comfortable and name tags, if you are just as comfortable. Have a fun tiger dinner.

  81. Dear Members,

This is to inform you that no table numbers are assigned, its free seating, based on first-come-first-serve basis.

To avoid confusion, the 2 leaders (Ros & Ah Nee) are encouraged to identify their own group or get one of their buddies to reserve that table for you if they’re earlier. Do include 2 more to your table as you’ve got a fixed number of 10 todate.

As regards to members who requested to be on wait-list, do accept our apologies we’re unable to accede, as we’re totally filled to its maximum capacity of 60 pax.

Terence ~~ The EOs will observe our chinese tradition with the exchange of beary hugs, oranges etc. and this can only be achieved thru’ co-operation from fellow members!

    Cheerio!

  82. Free seating………………..aiyayah, Sue-Chan, you no good lah, let the cat(woman) out only now. Had I known it’s free seating I’d be the first to sign up and then carry & place my sedan chair there so that I shall not only hv elbow room but the comfort to lie down and eat.

Those who missed out this year’s reunion dinner, fret not……….start signing up to queue for next year’s RD held at RWS………similar menu and the offer will be as if not more irresistible.

Thomas-L, you like to queue, you start the queue first……….

  83. Hi EOs
Sorry for the last minute battle-inject; we will not be able to attend the SHC Reunion dinner this Saturday due to some urgent matter needs our attention this weekend …. no choice, (big) customers come first.

So, any SHCians who are on the awaiting list or who are still keen to go for this Reunion Dinner, please email me privately at: IL63873828@yahoo.com.sg by 1pm on 26Feb2010, TWO seats are now available for the taking.

EOs, I will info you once firm replacements are found and confirmed at our end. Thanks.

    Regards,
    Ivan Lim

  84. Hi Ivan,

Thanks for keeping us posted of your withdrawal and getting replacements on your own. Am sure your 2 vacant seats can easily be taken up before the specified time of 1pm tomorrow.

Will meet you and Chris another time ya.

    Best regards,

  85. Dear SueC and JeffL,

Thank you for organizing a tantalising CNY dinner treat.
The dishes were marvelous and value for money.

I appreciated your hard work and sacrifice.

    rgds,
    james

  86. Hi Sue Chan and JeffL
A Big Thank You to the Both of you for organising this very wonderful Reunion dinner. On top of the good food, I could see that everyone had a great time. Those on my table elevated our merry mood to an extend that we erupted into “Yam Sengs” ever so often. Well done and keep up the good work.
    HC

  87. Hi Sue and Jeff

Yes Yes Kam kam siah…The food was delicious – fish so fresh I could have eaten it all by myself…hehe. Really value for money, hard to find during times like this when restaurants always take this opportunity to increase their prices during festive season !! I will definitely make my own personal trip there for a meal again. It will be on my list of restaurants to RE-VISIT !!

Thanks for your super effort in organizing this CNY dinner !! Absolutely well organized.

Must also give award to Molly Chua for being so SPORTING to take out her bra !! Nice bra I might add ! haha. Hey Mol, so was the prize worth taking out your bra for? Just dying to know what the prize is ! Share share can ?

    C-H-E-E-R-S !!!!

  88. Hi Sue and Jeff

Thank you both for organising this reunion dinner. I am sure everyone really enjoyed the fun/games and the delicious dishes. Also to thank Shirleen for the wine and Dennis, helping to serve further making this dinner an enjoyable one.

Thanks all, Cheers, looking forward to all our gathering.

    Lilian

  89. Hi Sue, Jeff and MaggieT #155,

I couldn’t attend the renion dinner, but I can’t resist not saying something about this comment.

Gee, there must be a New Year show going on with the bra removal. Can’t imagine how one can take out the bra without the dress on. The last I saw something like this was in one of Madonna’s movie.

    Sounds fun everybody.

    Terence Seah

  90. Hi HC,

I see you are back in Singapore for the reunion dinner. Very supportive of you.

Thought I was going to catch up with you in Perth. I am leaving Auckland now, and on the way to Melbourne this week. Saw a number of factories processing frozen foods. Next week I will be in Perth. See u mid March.

    Terence Seah

  91. Hi Terence

Guess u might not heard of. Example, drinking holes in places like Clarke Quay. More than often, liquor or alcohol companies promoting their drinks usually include a segment of this nature in their new launches to excite the patrons.

Theoretically it’s easy. Practically it really depends much on how fast the gals can move their hands unfastening the straps.

  92. Hey Terence

I find it hard to believe that you don’t know how a bra is being removed wo taking off the dress leh. real or not ? I thought you have seen it all ^_~

oh the game was co-organised by Andrew Koh and the EOs and I am still curious to know the prize and whose idea it was but I was told it was a woman’s idea! I also find that hard to believe.

look out for the pix! have a great Sunday !

  93. Molly brought a small bottle of “Remy Martin XO SPECIAL” for CNY dinner last night. She drank half the bottle of XO before she remove her bra……she was not tipsy but the XO gave her the gut to do so…see the wonder of alcohol! hehehe…..

The 8 course CNY dinner was super good, value for money….thanks to EO Sue Chan and Treasurer Jeff Lim. Terence, you have missed the delicious yummy dinner and most of all, the FUN that we had…….. :)

    Ah Nee

  94. Oh yeah…. Maggie @#160, Hou Chong saw how the bra being removed and he is pretty good and fast at it……perhaps he can give a demo to Terence….hahaha…….

    Ah Nee

  95. Dear James, Hou Chong, Maggie & Lilian,

The EOs are just as happy upon learning that you folks enjoyed the dinner as much as we did. Without all your presence & spontaneous participation, it wouldn’t be possible for us to get the theme going!

Terence ~~ As regards to that impromptu game with prizes sponsored by Andrew Koh & his support group, he was kind to initiate this game on our behalf and that was done to incite more fun & laughter to the evening. Would not reckon those pics to be posted online, with the exception of diners enjoying their dish served. Yep, you should have been there with us last nite, nonethless, to take a peek at the pics once its posted online, is worth a thousand words!

~~A BIG THANK YOU & 3 CHEERS to all dear members present at the dinner last nite — Your Great Presence, Punctuality & Good Sense of Humor made it POSSIBLE!

    Cheerio!
    Sue & Jeff (EOs)

  96. Dear Ah Nee,

Must also thank you and your group for inviting us EOs over to your table for repeated ‘Yam Sengs’, gulping different glasses of good Wine, Champagne and XO!

Your group are equally spontaneous and able to hold your glasses well too!

‘Kam Siah’, sure look forward to joining you & your kakis for more drinking sessions in future events.

    Cheers!
    Sue & Jeff (EOs)

  97. Dear CatYeo, James, Dan, Shirleen, Ah Nee, Molly, Michael, Hou Chong & AndrewK;

The EOs would like to record our appreciation for your kind gesture in sponsoring bottles of wine, champagne, mandarin oranges & prizes to this Reunion Dinner. A standing ovation to all for your graciousness!

A successful event is always made POSSIBLE thru’ active participation & support extended by fellow members! Am glad we hit it off well without any hiccups!!

    ~~ THANK YOU!

  98. Hi Maggie,

We each had an air freshener for Molly’s brave work. I think she had fun doing it too – fast and efficient like in everything she does.
Thank you Sue Chan and EOs for a great dinner – every dish was good. Thank you Marilyn, Michael Tan and Hou Chong for the champagne and bottles of wine.
Terence, come wearing a bra and a spaghetti dress at the next meeting and we’ll teach you how to remove your bra – hehe.

  99. Dear Sue & Jeff

Thank you so much for the efforts in organising such a wonderful event – fantastic price for such delicious food. Like Maggie, I will definitely be back to this place to try their other dishes… (^.~)

As this is my 2nd event with this club, I do find everybody very friendly and sporting in fun games and have never laughed so much for a long time. Am truly looking forward to joining more but I dun think I’ll be as “brave” as Molly… (@_@)

Kudos to her for being such a sport !! \\(^_^)//

    >(((:> >{{{:> … Pauline … <:]]]< <:)))<

  100. Hi All,

Wish I was there to join in the fun!

Molly is amazing. So hip and brave.

Hey Hou Chong, you are home and having a ball. Nice. Wonder what Ah Nee meant by you are fast at removing a bra after watching? Kekekekee. Need to see your demo when we next meet, mate.

Am also taking this opportunity to wish everyone a happy chinese valentine’s day today. Eat sweet dumplings with your loved ones.

    Mwah to all!

  101. Hi Sue and Jeff,

Thanks so much for sacrificing time and effort to organise this reunion dinne on behalf on Shcians.

Everyone was having great fun and screaming yam seng so many times too loud that we could almost go deaf. However, the climax of the event was when our brave Mollie did her ” strip tease ” act.

Excellent work! Keep it up! *** :)

Hope both of you can re-organise another one in 2011.

  102. Hi Sue Chan,

The post @TCC was closed. I am using it here to express my sincere appreciation for a job perfectly well done. :)

The place was cosy and the ambience was good to accomodate so many of us comfortably. The food and drinks was superb but what I like most was the fragrant cinnamon tea with mixed spices.

Hope in future you could organise for us again on a termly basis. I will give you my full support.

It is a great place for our wonderful company of SHCians to have a fun time and to destress.

    What say you folks ?

  103. Dear Sue / Jeff,

Wow! Well done to both the EO, I believed that everyone of us enjoyed the memorable reunion dinner in this Tiger year.

Appreciate your effort to arrange for this unforgettable gathering & looking forward to another one.

    Cheers

    Judy

  104. Hi Sue & Jeff

Thanks for organising this wonderful event. It was great
I enjoyed the dinner, the drinks and of course the company of friends.

Also would like to thank Molly, Shirleen and Cat Yeo for sharing their XO Cognac, Red Wine and Vodka with me

Lilian @156: It was a pleasure to serve you and the rest of our friends seated at our table

    Cheers
    Dennis

  105. Dear LinaNg, Pauline, Dennis, Judy & StevenC,

The EOs are pleased to learn that the menu selected did meet the satisfaction of members, and don’t forget you’d play your active role towards contributing a great evening too!

StevenC ~ The baton will be passed round to the next member to host the Lunar New Year Dinner in Y2011, together with a ‘Rabbit’ hopping in..

** What is worth doing at all is worth doing well! – Thank you all for your compliments ~~**!!

  106. SueC n JeffL,

Yup it is now my turn to say thank you to you both for organising the value for money dinner which was also delicious. Coupled with that was great fun and laughter not forgetting interaction with fellow members. You were always a very good negotiator so we need you to EO more of these eating sessions for us yah?

Kudos to MollyC for her sporting spirit which added to the fun game session initiated by AndrewK. The evening ended well and the group dispersed for their different after dinner programs.

Another feather in the cap for SueC again for a successful high tea session at TCC yesterday afternoon. The place was cosy and conducive for getting to know the newer members as well as the not so new. It was suggested that the next monthly meeting be held there although I am not so sure the place will be able to accommodate a much larger group.

All in all, it was a weekend of back to back activities with the SHC group albeit an enjoyable one!

  107. Hey Lina #166

how come you also got air freshener huh? didn’t see u take off your bra leh…hehe. But with your beautiful blouse, I think it would really be difficult to take out ya? hehe

I simply cannot imagine Terence in a spaghetti dress and a bra !! Ooooh the image is too much to handle…aarrgh !! (@_@)

    Cheers

  108. Yo… Maggie #177

I think I gotta copyright all my expression icons liao…
    ”(E_E)”…

….but on 2nd thought it would be great to share and have others use it so our written “conversations” will be more “expressive” without even meeting face to face….
    (^u^)

Have fun “catching” up on all that I’ve put up…(hmmm… if only I could collect royalties for them….)..
    //($_$)\\

There goes my potential “retirement” funds down the river……. >}}}.> ……. (T.T)

    Cheers – Pauline

  109. On behalf of EO Sue as well, I must thank all for the overwhelming support. What had originally been planned for 4 tables was increased to 5 tables and from 10 to a table to 12. Anything more and the room would burst at its seams.

Special thanks to James for sponsoring the oranges for what is a CNY do without them, Andrew for organising the table games and of course to an old friend of over 20 years, Molly for enlivening an already lively evening.

  110. Ah Nee #162

    I agree with Geraldine #168 –

“Hou Chong saw how the bra being removed and he is pretty good and fast at it” – er a bit confused here…hehe

is he wearing it or removing it or both?

  111. Hi Terence, #158
I found a carer for my dogs just before CNY and so did a snap trip to Spr to join in the festivities. Now with the benefit of hindsight, I am pretty pleased that I did.
I planned to go WA (S Zone) for abalone fishing soon and should be able to meet you in Perth. Look forward to seeing you soon.

    Hi Geraldine, #168
How are you doing ? Pity you didn’t join us for the 27/2 LNY Reunion Dinner. It was an enjoyable evening. After dinner, a few of us proceeded to a town club for coffee. We had laughs but No one did a bra removal over there. I just mimicked. Ah Nee put in a good word for me and there is curiousity. Actually, I am curious too – is it really so easy?

Thank you Molly for your gamesmanship. All of us on your table, are very fortunate to have you win for us, an air freshener each.

    ps: Maggie#177 & #180 -ok?
    HC

  112. Hi

Although this is long past, the incident has weighed heavily upon my heart. I feel that I owe an apology to Paul Kong and his group.

It was uncalled for when I took a moralistic view when Paul decided to make a booking for his group on the same date and time at the restaurant that a group of us were going to as part of an SHC event. The registration was closed as the maximum number of participants had been reached and Paul decided to book a table for his group.

Paul is a buddy to me. We have travelled to JB together and we play mahjong and badminton together regularly. It hurts me that this incident may have strained our friendship.

So to Paul and his group, I ask that you forgive me for my moralistic and uncalled for comments made on this post.

    Dan

  113. Hi Dan,
Apologies accepted Dan, no hard feelings. Afterall as our Chairman Terence said, SHC is a platform for like-minded people to care & share, so let’s go along that line and not harbour any ill-feelings towards one another. Let bygones be bygones and I’m sure we’ve all learned from each other in some way or another to be sensitive towards others, so let’s just move on, forget the incident, be happy, keep smiling and always only have positive thoughts in our minds. Have a great day everyone! Kind regards, Lisa O

  114. Hi Dan,
Apologies accepted. It takes a man to admit his mistakes. Let us put this matter behind us, start afresh and look to better relationships.

    Richard
