Peranakan gathering for SHCians

Sorry for a belated Gong Xi Fa Chai to all SHCians.

This is for Agnes Teo (at the moment I am attending another function, but got chance to use host’s PC. Apology if I left Gunong Sayang without saying goodbye.  On my way to Sengkang, it occurred to me that if you can, do please organise a Peranakan Lunch-cum-Ronggeng session in the near future for SHCians whom are Peranakans.

Do have a word with the Committee and as long as the date is not in July/August and December, the GSA premises is available.  The only snag is the musical band Dendang Irama is sometimes hired for the Muslims’ weddings on Sundays.  Your Bibik Singers will probably lend a hand.

  1. Hi Abel,

Is there any date suggested yet? Do understand that Dendang Irama band is heavily booked for events held on weekends, perhaps you may consider a Saturday afternoon. Not sure if they do cater for lunch crowd as very much depends on the venue chosen too.

Feel free to drop me an email~ onlysue@gmail.com if more info is required.

    Cheers!

  2. Hi Abel

It was great meeting you at the Gunong Sayang CNY celebration on Saturday. My surname is Seow.

Thanks for the invitation to organise a Peranakan gathering, but not able to do one soon due to the heavy workload in the office as well as my personal commitments.

Bibik singers as well as the band are very tie up with their activities till end of this year.

    Hi Sue

Thanks for beening a sport to so readily volunteer your assistance, will definitely approach you to work together.

    Cheers
    Agnes

  3. Hi Abel,
It’s a great idea to have a gathering for SHCians and the theme could be “Peranakan Night”. We can have the ladies dressed in their beautiful sarong/kebayas and the men in their Baba costumes. We do not need to have the function at Gunong Sayang or use their band. Alternatives can be found. May I suggest that we get Patrick & Ruby Ng, our new members, who are very well in the know about Peranakan functions. I’ve sounded Ruby out and she seemed quite interested. would like to hear from more members on this.

    Rgds.

  4. Hi Richard

Glad to hear from you since we last parted company after
the Batu Pahat trip almost a year ago.

Sure, by all means the SHCians Peranakan Nite can be held at other venue. Patrick & Ruby being both experienced in
organising such functions will gladly volunteer.

Regretably, due to work commitments I am not in a position to render assistance.

Regards to you and Mrs Kee.
