Yunnan & Fujian Trip

hi folks,

just a note to mention that I still have few trips a year to yunnan; for this year April, June and October months.

I am also doing a trip to Fujian and the neighboring taiwan island called Kinsmen Island sometime this year.

Do let me know if you are interested, so that i can give you some proposed itinerary for specific months and season. Or post your queries.

  2. hi laifong, october is best weather season of the year.
    you will need at least 7 to 10 days including weekends.
    are you planning to join us or go by yourself?
    In october you can visit in kunming; minority village, stone forest, jiu xiang cave, dwarf village, then go to dali/lijiang and back to kunming and then we will go to zhaotong another side of yunnan, where you will visit big fuji apple farms, fresh tian ma and hanging coffins on the side of mountain cliff.

    Good to hear from you again. What is the weather like in June? Is it about 18 in the day?

    I don’t mind making another trip to Yunnan it the temperature is 18 or lower. Ok if it is 5 also. Need a change of climate.

    How is our Sgpn friend, ex-Navy, present olive farmer? Has he got all his certification and how was his first harvest.
    I enjoyed my first visit there, despite the cold and lack of amenities.

  4. hi charles, you are by far one the better traveling companions, i am many folks here also look forward to traveling with you, given any opportunity.

    june weather will be around 17 Dec C in the night and 23 Deg C in the day. Colder weather would be Oct onwards. Best to go on the October trip, if you like colder weather.

    I am yet to hear from our olive tree farmer regarding his harvest and suitability for pressing into olive oil. will know on my april trip.

    hi rene, i am not familiar with trekking in shangrila, yunnan and i dont have the contact for such guides. if we are still in kunming after you return from shangrila, let me know. maybe we can meet up if you are keen.

    hi edwin, i am still not decided with regards to the date for xiamen, fujian, gulangyu island and nearby Taiwan’s kinsmen island, but i am sure i will do it this year. I am waiting to see who is keen to go before finalising the details.

    I am interested to know more on Xiamen, Fujian, Gulangyu & Kimmen Islands. If Kunming and nearby area to be conducted in Oct 2010 ? I got to miss it as I plan to follow tour to South Africa. If not, other months of the year is OK for me so long the weather is cooling (10 to 20 Deg C). Kindly keep me posted. Thank you.

  8. jolly good lai fong, charles, annie, cheng pun and pauline, i will email you the details of the different date trips.
    basically, i will be there in yunnan at the mentioned dates, and i am always happy to have some folks come along and enjoy yunnan. i have no problem even if it is only 1 or 2 of you on each date, as long you don’t mind following me around and/or some days go on free and easy tours with my local workers if you don’t speak mandarin well. Incidentally i am happier if you are keen to explore business opportunities and partnership, but not a must.
    yunnan is a very very colorful province with lots of ethnic diversities, agricultural abundance, eternal spring weather, very reasonable price good food, cultural entertainment/excellence and of course business opportunities.
    for our muslim friends, there are tons of chinese muslim restaurants, mosques etc.,
    just as many christian and catholic churches, and ample chinese temples.

  11. yes, june trip is very definite as the dates are already firmed up. I will email you the details. will need those going to get the airtickets early as it is school holiday season.
    yes, april is abit too late for most of you. but i do have one shc contact going with me.

    there is another place to visit in yunnan which is the dinosaur museum outside, it exhibit about 100 over fully assembled fossils of the dinosaurs that were discovered in yunnan. the museum is at the site of the discovery. neat.
