  1. Waaahh… Dan & Joy

Finally found a date that I could join your “party”… Pls “choop” a place for me ya… (^_^)

    Thanks…. Pauline

  2. This sounds like a family dinner and outing lead by kor kor Dan and kor kor (or ti ti?) Boon and mei mei Joy. I like it!

Choop a stool for me too can?

  3. Hi Rosalind, Eyvonne,Pauline and Daisy,

Thanks for the early response and support, we look forward to another round of fun and fellowship!

    Dan

  4. Hi Danz,

Can register a place for me 1st?
Are we walking from the dinner place tp Hort Park? And where will we end? Hort Park or Q’town MRT?

Look forward to the company and dinner but still a long way off lah.

  5. Hello Dan,
Plse include me for the Dinner and Walk. Thank You.

    Hello Daisy,
Yes! since you are participating as well. Regardless where the Walk ends, we take the train home together. Remember the touchlight, my night vision isn’t fantastic. See U.

  6. Hi Dan

This is good, makan first then excercise, no guilt ha ha ha. Please count me in.

Looking forward to meet Daisy and the other members.

    Cheers
    Agnes

  7. Hi Charles Chua,

Some of us may drive there or take a bus but we will let Boon Liang decide and revert soon.

SK Chua and Agnes, glad to have both of you coming and participating in the night walk.

By the way, the dinner place ia air-conditioned and this restaurant was awarded The Green Book Best Food Awards for 2009/2010.

    Dan

  8. Yo Dan-san

    Don’t be like that leh… (@_@)

I did choop early but I promised you I’ll not “joked” about anything on discount ya.. so can put my name up on the list anot… ??? (^_^)

    (^_~)

  9. Aiyayah, your name kena left out huh?

Dont worry lah, I will walk you in with Dan-H and Joy forming an arch of swords to welcome you and then if you really like Hainanese chicken so much, will teach you how to rear these cute cute birds which can also provide fertilisers to your Lucky Bamboos……

Seriously, obviosuly your name was inadvertently left out so blink again, you’ll see PH up there liao.

  10. Hi Danz,

Is it ok if we wear shorts to the dinner place? And how about sandals? I would rather wear shorts for the walk than be ‘smart casual’.
Just so I don’t violate the chicken rice owner’s dress code. Mebbe Singapore now so lawah, eat chicken rice also must dress up.

Reminds me of an occasion when my daughter’s friends came for dinner. After dinner she asked if we ate like that every night. I replied, “Of course not, usually we dress up for dinner.” I got told off by my own daughter.

    Cheers

  11. Whoa.. Tim-san… don’t need such “ceremony” lah.. ^o^

Just want to ensure I’ve got a seat to join in the makan session lah.. **(^_^)**

I grew up in Queenstown and this is a good reason and chance to revisit the old place again..
    (a_h)…

  12. Dear Pauline,

Sorry lah, I blur blur left your name. How about one extra drumstick to make amend?

Charles Chua, yes we can be very casual. Come in short or singlet also can!

    Dan

  13. Yo… Dan-san

No problem… yeah… saw my name oredy… so I don’t have to worry about having to sit outside liao … ^_^

Thanks for the extra drumstick but cannot accept leh… (^_~)

I need to eat moderately now ‘cos I realized I’ve been joining more makan sessions in SHC than the workout events it offers… die lah…(#_#)

This coming May’s cycling I’ve got to give it a miss oso as some installation thing is going on at my place.. (+_+)

Oh-oh.. lucky still got the Freaky tGiF Nite thingy happening… (phew).. **(^_^)**

  14. Dan-H, you very the kiam siap hor. Anyhow, since you hv Joy with you all the time, while you raise yr drumstick, she can also put up her joystick and then Boon Liang will start beating the drum in joy.

Btw, if I attend I will come after a swim…….like that, can?

  15. Another makan then walk, walk, Agnes you already in. Calling the rest of the PP group, joining?

Dan, I will be attending. Kindly register for me.

    Thks
    Lilian

  16. Dear Lilian,

Heard you calling and responding hehe. I will be in San Francisco on that date and do hope you will enjoy your meal in air-conditioned comfort.

Last month an SHC friend was kind and gracious to buy me a dinner treat and we actually went to look for the Claypot chicken rice on the second floor of the hawker centre nearby but to our dismay the whole second floor was vacated and while walking past the Chicken rice stall, we saw a notice pasted on the wall that indicated they have moved to a stone’s throw away.

So instead of claypot chicken, we ended up having chicken rice at the place you guys and gals will be enjoying your food.

Have a deliciously good time and dont worry, we will be having our walk tomorrow morning. See you soon!

  17. Hi Lilian #19

Heard yr rallying call, thanks Dan, Boon Liang, Joy,
Please count me in. Thank you.

Heal the world, Make it a better place,
    For U & me & the entire Human Race….

  18. Dear Lilian #19,

Sweet of you to call us along, but am unable to join you as I’ll be away during that weekend. Thanks Dear!

Do enjoy good fellowship, yummy food, followed by a healthy walk @ HortPark, knowing you’re in good hands with B.Liang leading this walk.

    Cheers!

  19. Hi Lilian #19

Hear your calling but so far away, cannot confirm at this moment la. Maybe closer todate, still got vacancy then register.

You are in good hands. Enjoy your makan and walk ok?

  20. Hi Tim,

Yes you may come in your trunk, just dun scare the diners away!

Lilian, King, Alice and Henry, appreciate your constant support. Let’s celebrate and I just wonder whose birthday falls in June, we want to be there for you!

    Dan

  21. “Hi Tim………your trunk, just dun scare the diners away!”

Ok, will ensure my trunk is kept behind my trunkS and wont let it peek at the who’s who.

“……I just wonder whose birthday falls in June………”

Spend the entire June at the KK Factory and you will know whose birthdays fall in June – you might pleasantly find that some faces 89.9% like you and 10.1% like me.

Aiyah, my name up there already huh…….? Usually, I like to be that standby fella, making up the last unit to meet quota.

  22. MMmmm
Wen I hv more vitamin $$ in me pocket, I live to eat.
Wen vitamin $$ not enough, I eat to live.
    How’s tat for physio-phyloso-poooooo?
    Cheer!
(Oh! Chop ONE place 4 me too, pleaseeeeeeee. TQ)

  23. Hey Steven #26

I dun think obese is in yr vocabulary leh ;-)

You sure you eat oor not? Eat and enjoy la. Life is too short to worry too much !

  24. Hi Irene and Helen,

Glad that both of you are coming to dine and thereafter all of us shall have a leisurely stroll at Hort Park.

    Dan

  25. Hi Kristin,

See you at the dinner and walk.

Charles #7, after dinner we will pack into the cars available and head for Hort Park where we will explore the garden.

    Dan

  26. Thanks Andrew for coming in to join us for the fun and fellowship!

We may need more drivers, John Howe and Thomas Loh, are you planning to join us?

    Dan

  27. Dan whether you live to eat or eat to live – Chickens taste best when eaten by the masculine gender.

My old friend, I hope I am not too late to register. Please include me and I will paid you on that day.

Back from meditation retreat and die die must try chicken and nothing else. I love the meaty and juicy birds.

See you on that day if there is alot for me. Thank you. Cheerio

LeePatrick Don Juan (full of mosquitoes bites in the woods not love bites)

  28. Lee Patrick, wonderful that you can join us, seems that you have been mia for a season, dun meditate to long. How come at our age you are still hankering for the meaty and juicy birds and why must it taste better by the masculine gender?

    Dan

  29. Winter had opened up for Spring so the meaty and juicy birds are out in full force to be consumed, hence the Spring chickens are highly priced. I was with MIA FARROW in the Hollywood Retreat Centre in California LA doing a ‘one-two’ Meditation. If you know who Mia Farrow is – first wife of Frank Sinatra.

My dear friend DAN, with the ‘fangs’ of the masculine gender
the meaty and juicy birds are the obvious choice.

Men “live to eat”, some even eat more than one chick
at one go. Hahaha ! Cheers,

    LeePatrick don juan

  37. Hi Joy @ #65,

AS I was about to pay. I got an sms from Sockie asking if I want her to pay for me 1st. Of course I agreed. So the S$8 payment belongs to someone else, perhaps Charles Wee, etc, but certainly not me.

Looking forward to the walk and dinner. See you then

  50. Hi Danz,

Sorry I won’t be coming for the Live to eat – June 5, 2010 (Satuday) as I’m going to Port Dickson, KL & Genting Highlands with my son as in 2 weeks time he will be working and will be quite sometime before he can he can take holiday with me.

If there is anyone interested in filling my place? I’ve fotgotten about the dinner totally.

    Susan Tan SW

  51. Well, Seok Wah, I am in a very similar boat with you.

I need to fetch my daugter at 6 a.m. the next morning to meet the tour group departure at latest 6.30 a.m. But no sweat if you know what crazy and follish things I had been doing over the last 5 days walking and standing continuously for 24-hour stretches, taking sleep breaks of several hours in bwn.

So, depending on the time after dinner, I might still be joining the walk with Dan and all for a short distance before heading home.

  52. Hi Soek Wah,

No problem, we have two persons on wait list. Enjoy your trip with your son.

Agnes, #97 yes we live to eat and pamper ourselves.

Tim, just wondering wat kept you on edge the last few days. Be seeing you for the yummy treat and walk!

    Dan

  53. Haha, Dan-H, it was raining $ from the sky at first so I was running everywhere to catch it but then hor, without any warning, it was a socrh-earth kind of nipah bombing reminiscent of the Viet war. While am still alive, I was burnt all naked like that kid in Reuters’ files, short of crying.

  54. Hi Tai-Kor Tim #100 G’day. Sounds like U r in the Casino. I was at RWS on Mon. LCLC only. Played abit just to cover the entrance fees, achieved. I’m not a gambler hahaha. Hope U r not too. hahaha

  55. Hi Karen, Maureen Lim is in.

Rene, Venika is included, see you this Saturday.

Judy Lim, is Michael Tay a member yet?

Look like we have to open another table.

    Dan

  58. Hi Lee Patrick

I wrote you an email a few days ago. Can you confirm your attendance as I have not heard from you and have not received your payment.

Or are you also in Vietnam?

    Joy

  59. Dear folks,

Some of you may not know the direction to our dinner venue. Here is a guide, when you alighted from the train at Queenstown station head for the former Queenstown theatre which was closed down but NTUC Fairprice is still operating.

Blk 38 is not listed in the street directory, look out for Blk 40A where the hawker centre is, the venue is right next to it. It is a dome shaped unit which is below the furniture shop.

Hope I am not confusing you otherwise I get Joy to put up a map on the post!

    Map : http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel/travel/travel_id_1/travel_site_143810/

    Dan

  60. Dear Den,

Michael Tay just sign as member on 27 May 2010,too troublesome to set-up another table because of additional person, it is possibale slot in a place for him & let him attend his first activity in SHC.

    Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

    Thank you.

    Judy

  61. Dear Judy,
dun worry, we just have 11 to a table, I just need to remind the cook to ensure that everyone are well fed!

See you all tomolo for a sumptuous dinner and brisk walk.

    Dan

  62. Hello Joy,
Nowadays too busy to log into SHC and I did not receive any email from you.
Msg Dan Huang I will be paying on that day. No, not picking the ‘Vietnam rose’ from Vietnam but will MIA from 11th to 25th June outstation for personal assignment.
    Thank you Joy.

    cheers
    Leepatrick the don juan

  63. Hi Dan, Boon Liang, Joy
Many thanks indeed for this really fantastic value for money chicken rice dinner. Should do again in future! hehe
Also really appreciate Boon Liang’s enthusiasm in leading us thru the Hort park. Thanks BL!! and everyone’s great company cheers!! cheers to SHC SPIRIT!!

  64. Thanks Henry, we are glad that all of you enjoyed yourselves.

Fourty pax turned up to give themselves a treat of chicken rice, curry fishhead and pig trotters at just $8.00 per head. After dinner about 34 of us head for Hort Park, some by cars, some by taxis and two of them, Pauline and SK actually walked to Hort Park from Commonwealth Avenue.

Boon Liang leads us through the park which took only about half an hour. As the night was young most of us want to walk further and we decided to walk to Henderson Waves. The drivers have to drive over and waited for the walkers. After the hour long walk, some were hungry again and some are craving for ice-kachang. In the end we reach Henderson Road where the hawker centre was.

Without doubt the dessert stalls had a long queue of Silverhairs members waiting for their cold ice-kacang!

An unusual experience, a dinner follows by a leisurely night walk in the garden at Hort Park. We also have the opportunity of meeting new friend.

    Dan, Boon Liang, Joy

  65. Dan, Boon Liang, Joy,

Many thanks for organising this interesting eat, walk, eat and eat event. Am sure all were well fed for the sumptuous dinner. Follow-up with brisk walk. What a great nite. Is my 1st time to Hortpark. Interesting, hope to visit this place again in the day.

Thks, cheers, c u, take care.
    Lilian

  66. Dear Joy, Dan and Boon Liang

Would like to add my thanks to all of you for organizing this event and not forgetting Janet too, who lead us to the final and most “rewarding” destination – ice kachang stall… **(^o^)**

However, due to the overwhelming orders for ice kachang, jendol, etc…the last 3 of us (Maureen Lee, Alice and myself) in the long queue were told by the stall owner that they have ran out of ice kachang syrup… (#_#) and we decided to quench our thirst with the next best thirst quenchers : ice cold lime juice and waterchestnut drink… (^_~)

All in all, it was a fun-filled nite with no guilt feelings over the extra amount of food I’ve consumed… (^o^)

… plus being “entertained” by the group of great singers as we trekked downslope… (o^_^o)

    Cheers – Pauline

  67. Hi Danz 4 Joy, Boon Liang and Janet

Just to say, KAM SIAH for the wonderful evening of no guilt makan as we exercised after tucking in the delicious food. Even with the sweet dessert, no problem as we really worked ourselves out with the long long long walk starting in the Hort Park, onto the high metal link and the Henderson Waves. I would never experienced this walk if you guys had not taken the liberty to organise this for us.

It was indeed a great to re-connect with members that I’ve known and getting to know the new ones.

    Cheers
    Agnes

  68. Dear EO Dan/Joy/Boon Liang/Janet,

Appreciate the efforts being organized such a wonderful event on last Sat and I really appreciate the foods. I have realized that I also enjoyed eat Pig trotter as all along I don’t like to take this dish.

Thank you Boon Liang/Janet for leading all of us to the enjoyable and fun walk, we have joke with each other & sing together during the walk for almost 7km and it seems like everyone of us don’t feel any tiredness & proceed to the yummy desserts before home sweet home.

    Dear Terence,

Sorry that just noted your message & please be informed Michael Tay only be back to Singapore this weekend, will ask him to registered by himself in the post.

    Thank you

    Judy
