  1. Hi YK (EC)

    Thrilled to have cycling trips.

Would like to know how is the program like on Pengarang trip, what accomodation and meals etc., cost?

Very much would like to join in the fun. Only concern is finding it somehow difficult in going uphill, going downhill is quite a breeze.

  2. Mersing

    2X17km = 34km (any stops within the 17km?)
    What is road terrain like?

Do we take Ferry both ways?
Where do you start cycling from?

Appreciate if you could provide some info.

    Thanks.

  3. Hi June

Pengarang trip is cheap n gd. Just relax n enjoy. Accomodation is on twin if not a few persons sharing a spacious room wif beds to sleep on. Accomodation is RM25 for sheer sleep comfort. Food is simple. We can have seafood meal @ RM50 per person. Sightseeing – Ostrich farm n try riding ostrich, chinese temple n riding into the kampong to view houses n landscape.

The whole stretch of road from start to end is almost flat. Return ferry costs S$20 n bike transport S$4. If u choose to rent a bike over at Pengarang, it costs S$10 a day.

    Hi Anna

Mersing is very far n terrain is rolling with challenging hot weather.

To go to Pengarang, we take a ferry from Changi Ferry Terminal Point, the same jetty where u take a boat to P Ubin from Changi Village. On reaching the other side, Pengarang your cycling starts here. 17km is just abt 3 times the distance we do at monthly cycling.

  4. So, once you reach the other side, you can rent a bike or if not bring your own bike on the ferry. So the terrain is tougher than East Coast. East Coast is like flat except for just one part I think..

  5. Hi Anna

    Just to share

    1. you can bring your own bike for the trip
    2. you can rent one from changi point and have the fun of carrying it onto the bumboat
    3. or rent one in Pengerang and save your ferry charges but do note that the bike over in Pengerang are not of good quality.

The distance from Tg Pengelih jetty to Sg Rengit town is about 18km, almost the same distant as from ecp McDonald to Changi Point, the terrain is also similar to our coastal route.

  6. Hi Anna,

You definitely have no problem with continuing cycling for about 17 km especially for a young woman like you. For old man like me, I also can jog continually for 21 km (half marathon) within 140 minutes.

If you can cycle at 1 time faster than my jogging, you should be able to reach there in less than 70 minutes. From my understanding most people should be able to cycle faster than 1 time my jogging speed.

By the way, last year our Pengarang cycling trip is one day event – we cycle to and fro within a day. Can’t find any reason you cannot do it in two days if an old man can do it.

Just wondering if the accomodation for this trip is in the town or in one of the village resort?

  7. Hi YK, I am a new member to the club and wondering if I could bring a friend along for this cycling trip. She is not a member and under 45years of age.
