    Thanks… – Pauline (^_~)

  3. Hi James,

I cannot go on Aug 25th as it clashes with another dinner I have. So sorry. I think you have my wife’s name in the list (#3). Can you make the correction?

    Cheers and Kanpei

  4. Hey James-san

    Many thanks for your emails.

Got a reply from Standard Chartered (SC) that my transfer to your account is successful…yeah… (^_^)

So I think the $$ may need 2-3 days to >(((:> (swim) over from SC to DBS / POSB… (^_~)

Thanks for organizing this makan-cum-meeting event…
    **(^_^)**

  5. James, thank you for your patience.

I was in hospital for the last 2 days, with 3 invasive checks done on Friday the 13th. When I woke up after the local anaesthesia, the surgeon said he was sorry. I too felt the sameo for myself.

He found nothing,I set myself back by an amount Terence will be happy to make over 7 months on retirement.

Yes, I confirm U can join you and folks, and will confirm my $ transfer once it’s done.

Btw, it was quite an experience. The operating room was like a fish=mart. The nurse asked whether she shd push me to a “quieter corner”. My retort was simple “Why push me away when the right thing to do was to tell the swarm of bees to stop blaring their vuvuzelas”. Otherwise, it was like a check-in to a chalet. Luckily I had enough cigarettes to keep me going in those 27 hours without food/drink.

    ???????????“????????”????????????????????????????

  6. Tim,

    Received yr payment with thanks.
Hope you have recovered from yr surgery.

I, too, went for my eye operation 2 days ago.
This is the 2nd operation on the same eye to correct for
my astimagtism which the 1st opn couldn’t make right.
Now the surgeon said I’m a $1.5m man and can see tru’ walls.

    rgds,
    james

  7. James, happy for you that you’re getting very close to yr 40-diner target. Yes, since my discharge fro rumah sakit, I am back to eating like a bull-frog again.

With yr eyes seeing thru walls, pity the skirts and what lies under………..and pity you as well. With eyes this penetrative, you probably will nvr get to see anythg. Without the arousal of sight, you might hv had the last of yr mari kita, haha……….

    ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  8. Haha, Douglas-C, the bull-frog tim is speaking from his heart cos for him, it’s “malu saya”.

Of cos I can see that James=T still has the bull in him, With my taunt, he’ll be on a rampage so diners, sorie if yr butts get hit during lunch altho I promise to coax him to look at walls…………and if he is a goodboy, will buy him a Walls ice-cream with huge nut toppings……..

  9. Tim#16

Your mandarin always very ‘cheem’. Care to give the
translation everytime you put up some philosophical quote.
You’ve a sense of humor that only Art Buchwald can appreciate.

Btw, if you are bringing yr gf to this lunch, don’t worry.
Though the good old doc said I can see tru walls, don’t
worry, I still can;t see tru skirts yet, cos I told that
good old doc I already can see tru walls beofre the ops.

All I need is a WINDOW.

  10. James-T, what it means is : into the old farty years, eyesight is one big concern. With lao hua eyes to look at this flowery world, he will soon see flowers floating and spattering everywhere but isnt that fun too…..

I’ll have to close this event.

  19. Hi James,

Please cancel my name for the lunch as I may not be in on that day.

Also you have mistakenly added my wife’s name by mistake. She is not a SHC member (#3).

Please accept my apologies for my late answer as I was hoping to attend.

  20. Hi James

just got my roster today, i don’t hv to work on 10/9 hence can join your lunch. is it still available? if so, will pay you tomorrow. thanks

  21. Hi James

tried to transfer $25 to your a/c but failed many times. will try again t’row using my other posb card. ok? tq.
btw, although it’s free seating, may i be seated together with dayal & the Cadys?

  22. June-K, if you believe in fate, you’ll get to join us. Remember what “????”?????“??????????????????? ????????? ??????????????????????????

Btw, there were a lot of meat and free flow of milk yesterday at the City Square Mall. How blessed it is to be babies again. The toothless could also join in the queue, i was told.

  23. “Hi Tim, I remember “lei hai ping kor”.

    Me……ping kor?.

I’d rather be ??? than ??, worst, a ??. So, no I aint any ping kor but the darkie grilled under that scorching afternoon sun that even my dogs failed to recognise me and went hiding when i returned.

Hope you will be accommodated to lunch with us. If it’s not feasible due to seating or other reasons, do please attend on my behalf as it’s no fuss for me to fast for another day, having fasted for close to a month already.

    Happy ???

  24. My pleasure, no pressure, June-K.

With a list of 38 minus 8 withdrawals, it looks like we’ll have 3 tables of 10 each, a very encouraging number on a public holiday over a long weekend.

Good if James-T would firm up the finalists closer to the day without tampering with the initial idea of free seating. Single lap-sitting will be counted as 2 seats, and double as 3 seats.

  25. Tim,

The free seating includes anybody who would like to sit
    on your lap too.

However, that would depend how lucky you are to get a lady
    to do that.

Your luck might be better if you ask Phua Chua Kang or
Zhou Mei (from Ai) to do that.

    Good luck !!!

  26. How can it be lucky if a lady sits on my lap? You can lap it up if you think that’s lucky.

See, many women are still light years away from menopause. So, if her big aunty decides to come while you let her sit on yr lap, and she says “me no pause”, you’ll be awashed.

However, it’s quite safe if a man sits on a woman. The worst that can happen is, he farts a giant fart and drills hole thru her skirt……….

  27. Hi James

My apology, as stated in my email, now i can’t join the lunch. Robert Cady is also unable to make it. I wonder if you can find a replacement for him? (or whether the payment can be refunded to Dayal on that day?)

  28. Dear all foodies,

The lunch is on next Friday 10-Sep-10 (Hari Raya holiday)
    We will start at 11.30am.

A couple of tips before we start the feast.
    1) You may want to skip or eat light breakfast on the day
    itself.
    2) The dishes will be served around 11.45am. If you are
unable to be present by then, pls ask your fren to
reserve some food for you as a dish, once served, cannot
    be repeated.
    3) If at the end of the 10 dishes, your table wants to
order some more, go ahead. If only a couple of you
wants a particular dish and the rest doesn’t want, ask
for a small serving, as unfinished food may be charged.

    Bon apetit.

    james

  29. Hi James Tan,

James, my reply to yr email was returned “Undelivered” too.

    No problem. See you soon.

Btw, could it be yr mail box is full and so any excess mails are returned to sender?

  30. Tim, StevenC, StevenN, Bessie,JuneK, Dayal, Bobby, Anna,
Pauline, Seok Cheng, Christina, Doreen, Daisy and all who replied,

A big thank you for your overwhelming support. I now have
enough mandate to continue with this lunch.

All of you had been very optimistic and generous.

I like the way that StevenN put it:
“… for the extra $1, let’s eat more only”

So let’s u go down this Friday and gobble up the tables,
as well as invade their kitchen till they close shop.

Bon appetit. See you this Fri at 11.30am.

    Notes:
    1) All may pay me this Friday. No need to do another IB/ATM
    transfer.
    2) JonsonT, yr email bounced so just to update you; restaurant
miscalculated and asked for $1 extra.

  31. Dear James

Many thanks for organizing the makan yesterday. Truly value for ($_$)…

It was indeed a good opportunity to be able to sit down and chat with one another while at the same time enjoying the unlimited supply of food… **(^0^)**

A fun and great way to celebrate a public holiday.. (^_~)

  32. Thank you James for organizing this makan session.

Eat until stomach almost explodes. Luckily still able to walk or else have to sit there for a few hours for it to digest. I am like a vacuum cleaner – clean up any remaining leftover especially the noodles – ended up eating the remaining 4 bowl nobody want to eat and take almost two hours to let my high metabolic stomach to get it back to normal stage.

  33. Hi James Tan n Susan Tan,

Thanks for being EOs. I enjoy the lunch v. much. To my opinion it was much better than last yr in terms of quality. This yr the club waitress told me they had employed a HK chef who specialises in cooking Cantonese cuisine.

I love eating the 2 fried garoupas, herbal sharks fin soup, beef kwayteow and the fragrant fried rice with sea food. Yummy! Moe tak theng! :) and enjoy the company of chit chatting with schians.

However, the dishes were coming out too fast at one time. Before we could finish eating 1 dish, a few others were coming out at the same time and the next and the next……. I hope they are not sending the signal to us to eat fast and get lost ! Ha! ha!

On the whole, it was a great way for us to celebrate HRP.

Here I would like convey my belated Hari Raya Puasa greetings to Norlinda, Hamidah n other muslims.

  34. Dear all makan kakis,

A big thank you for partaking in this sumptuous feast.
I hope that everyone had a filling and fulfilling meal.

    Hope to see you soon.

    rgds,
    james
