  1. Hi Terence,

Your active support is most encouraging.

Would like to highlight that the Restaurant do impose a 1-1 corkage charge on wine/liquor @ $40/$60++, it is therefore mandatory that we order the first bottle of wine/liquor inhouse, before we get a waiver for our second round of consumption and so forth..

    Cheers,

  2. Hi Sue

There’s a twist to this dinner.. ~~ interested member is required to register as a couple (strictly SHC members) and you’re not obliged to reveal the identity of your partner on this thread.

For the start, it looks like u may have to bend the rule in reference to registration no. 3.

    This Event is getting interesting.

  3. Yes, Yew kwong, I agree with you that this event is getting interesting but for a different reason.

Terence will hop in with Mr Giraffe.

Then the restaurants plays “Changing Partners”…………..

So, there wont be any need to bend any rule but some bending for the giraffe to make him sit at the table.

Not sure btwn the two pretty Ms Choo, who will get Terence with the hungry look and who will be with the giraffe looking hungry?

  4. Hi Babydoll Sue,

This sounds like an enchanting evening; elegant and charming, just like a movie set in the roaring 20’s in Paris. Very tempting.

Will confirm with you before the due date. By the way, I do not have a partner so do I qualify?

  5. Hello YK & TimL,

Yes, you’re both right that I’d bend the rule a little, and I’ve got the ‘green light’ to do so from my Master…

The 2 ladies are both new members and so gracious to support me in this event ~~ I should be most delighted to receive them with a warm welcome & hugs!

To find out how interesting this event would be, why don’t you guys join us and discover what’s in store for you when you choose to fine-dine with an interesting group?

Thanks for highlighting that para, pal..

  6. “Fine dining”, me hv no 2nd guess. Interesting Group, no 2nd thought. But then hor, I hv been losing weight so will fit into my suit like a scarecrow, Italians are known to be afraid of scarecrows – you dont see them pinching a scarecrow’s backside. It wd be disastrous if the waiters all hide under the table, refuse to get out till i got out.

Sue-C, think this is an interesting event and you get a 1 star, 2 hugs and 3 blow-kisses from me for putting it up.

  7. Hello Miss HKG-Geraldine,

An elegant lady like you is more than qualified to fine-dine with us. With a queue of admirers waiting in line, just select the best one to be your partner!

Your SGP Cabaret Biz Partner is assisting me as Treasurer, the more you should join us to discuss & collaborate further on ‘future business expansion plans’…..

    Take care my dear,

    Cheers,

  8. Hi Sue

In this time and age, a couple may not necessarily have to be a man and a woman. However to put the records straight, we love men!

    HAND and cheers to all

    dolly

  9. Aiyah, Yew Kwong, our date 2 doors away and 10 floors up can be deferred by 4 hours lah.

Hear ! Hear what Dolly-C has said. Men are always lovely and lovable to the opposite gender. And not many men are as loving as you, me, Mr Lee and humpty dumpty.

And who knows, with Terence still chasing his Porn Nite dream, potentially, a smll curtain raiser awaits.

(Ooops, can see that Sue-C is frowning and if she’s not the nice Sue Chan, will be barking knn at me liao……..)

  10. Hi Sue Chan,

Congrats, Both you and Jeff chose well. That is a very good restaurant. Am sure you will enjoy the food there.

    Hi Dolly C @12,

You assure us, “We love men…” but we are wondering, “Do you prefer boys..”???

    Just pulling your leg.

    Bono appetito in Basilico

  11. Steven-C,

I dont think Fine Dining with finite but choiced foor, is for you.

When I find the mood to organise an Unrefined Food festival where food is infinite, pls be my guest. Guests eat for free.

With your hint of 3-4, ok, there will be 3-4 plastic bags on the side for bungus.

  12. Hi Charles,

Thank you for your compliments! Just like our local MakanGuru-Seetoh, you’re another Food Critic who is able to distinguish & recommend restaurants that serve good quality food.

Having dined @ Basilico last Jun, I must add that the food presentation and garnishing techniques are superb. With cosy ambience plus the impeccable service accorded by the wait-staff, this is truly an Italian Restaurant that shouldn’t be overlooked!

    Wanna join us, Charles?

  13. Hi Sue Chan,

I enjoy fine dining once in awhile and it’s a good opportunity to fine-dine with SHCians at the Basilico.

I have difficulty fulfilling the requirement you’ve stipulated, like teaming up with another SHCian as my partner. Don’t know who else would enjoy this kind of dinner.

Hope you’ll relax the so called requisite to enable those without partners to participate.Or hope that someone of our SHCians would want to partner me.

Veronique, hope that you are reading this Post cos I think that you may enjoy this fine dine meal at the Regent Hotel.

    Good nite.

    Geok Suan

  14. Hi Geok Suan,

You’re most welcome to fine-dine with us, as clarified in comment #8.

Its not a pre-requisite that you must scout for a partner, feel free to join us if you can. Like you, I too enjoy Fine-Dining and would be glad to exchange tips with you over the dining table over a cuppa aromatic coffee.

As highlighted in #18, Basilico is a place for fine-dining ~ a delight to the discerning palates of Fine-Diners like us!

    Cheers,

  15. hi Sue,
Can you check if Mr. Lim Kok Eng and wife Catherine are members or not. I may want to rope them in for your event together with me and Irene . Sori to trouble you .

  16. Dear Janet & Geok Suan,

With your registration to join us, I would like to thank you both for assisting me in closing this thread much sooner than anticipated.

    * Ms HKG-Geraldine #7,

You’re still welcome to join us if you’re visiting SGP in Oct. Do drop me an email and I’ll make the necessary arrangements ~’mo man tai’!

    * Jeff Gan,

Saw your comments under moderation. Pending confirmation on Kok Eng & spouse membership status, do email me if you’re able to join us with Irene.

** Registration for Fine-Dining is now Closed – THANK YOU!

  17. SusanC, very nice of you to organise a fine dining evening at the Regent Hotel. After having seen the place today, I must say the place is just right for the occasion, you described.

We will have to see how the event takes off; and I am quite sure we can finetune this event for future occasions. We didn’t get a chance to try the dishes, but can only see and say the Regent has an excellent spread of appetiser and desserts.

Sue, I can see one seat left.

    Terence Seah

  18. Yes Terence, if only that ‘hot’ seat can be filled ASAP, thereby contributing a comfortable total of 16 Fine-Diners!

Appreciate your time taken to view the venue as well as your newly appointed Business Network Manager who’d assist me with the seating arrangement for Fine Dining too.

    Cheers,

  19. Hi Sue,

My friend Nel would like to participate if there’s a spare seat.

She can’t communicate directly cos she has trouble with password since day 1 of registration.

Seems like there are many members who would like to Fine-dine sometimes.

Would you organise another one for those who missed this event?

    Thank you.

    Geok Suan.

  20. Hi June #28,

Yes, you may have the last seat! With your registration, you’ve enabled me to OFFICIALLY CLOSE THIS THREAD FOR FINE DINING.

    Hi Geok Suan #29,

Appreciate your help in asking Nel to join us. Could you please inform her that I’ll keep you posted if a spare seat should suffice as that private room can only accomodate a max. capacity of 16 Fine Diners comfortably.

May consider organising a French Fine Dining, pending support from an enthusiastic member who’s well versed in French cuisine.

    Cheers!

  21. Thank you Yew Kwong of Admin for informing me that Nelly Soh’s problems are resolved and she may now enjoy writing on the various threads if she wishes.

Thanks Sue, I look forward to your events.

    Geok Suan.

  22. Hello Jeff,

Please find $75.00 creditted into your POSB A/C at 2.55pm 6/10/10 from DBS Holland Village branch for our up-coming “Fine Dine” at Regent Hotel on 29/10/10.

    Thank you.

    Geok Suan

  23. Hi Geok Suan,

Acknowledge with thanks your payment transfer made earlier. Will get Jeff to update his account when he’s back in town.

    Cheers!

  24. Hi all frens,

I finally managed to log in thru trial and error.
    Phew !!! what a chore.

Many thanks Geok Suan. Terence, n Yew Kwong. you guys are a real friend indeed.

    Nelly

  25. Hi Nel,

Welcome aboard the SHC web site.

I know you don’t give up so easily.

Btw, you are late for the Italiano fine dining experience but I understand that they are toying with the idea of a french one next.

You’ll have fun catching up with all that SHC has in store for the members – tennis, golf & kelong fishing etc.

    Regards,

    Geok Suan

  26. Hi SHCians,

To those who missed being included in the Fine Dining at “Basilico, The Regent on the 29/10/10”,and are still interested to have what we maybe having at the Regent, please see today’s Sunday Times. It ran an ad for Italian Buffet at The Regent, food like ours, but seems to cost alittle less at $39++ for lunch.

    Please check before going.

    Geok Suan.

  27. Dear Geok Suan,

Fine dining as compared to a Buffet spread is in a class of its own. Our Fine Dining was pre-arranged and the settings is specially tailored to the needs of 18 savvy diners in a private room. Hence, the exclusivity will be par excellence and the service ‘numero uno’!

With your experience in fine dining, am sure you’re aware of the mere difference in cost between a buffet lunch and dinner being served attentively by the wait-staff. Furthermore, The Regent has its prerogative to promote their buffet lunch as part of their marketing strategy, trust you’ll understand. Nevertheless, the onus is on you…

    Cheers!

  28. GS,

I think cannot compare apple to orange or a normal buffet
    to an exquisite dinner.
If you want to max yr tummy to the fullest, of course a
buffet is the way to go, and I’ve many buffet outlets
serving better value food at lower price than Basilico.

I’m sure Sue Chan has arranged a very special dinner
for all of us as a service (non-profit) to SHC members.
We should be thankful that she took up this premiere
task that few would want to organize.

    james

  29. Hi Sue,

Apologies if I have given the wrong signal.

I certainly agree with you that our Fine dining will be an exceptional personalised dining experience. I am priviledged to be able to fine dine with all of you.

I highlighted the Italian buffet so that others may enjoy italian food too at a cheaper price since there was a promotion.

Our Fine Dining which is specially arranged by you for all the 18 SHC Diners to enjoy is definitely appreciated and I am certainly not comparing it with the Sunday’s brunch buffet.
    Won’t dare do that.

Thanks again for the special arrangement for the fine dining event tomorrow nite.

    Look forward to meet you.

    To James,
Thank you too. Yes, I can’t compare Fine Dining with the Sunday Italian Brunch.Agreed that we are in for an exquisite dinner tomorrow nite. Thanks to Sue for having arranged it.

    Good nite.

    Geok Suan.

    Regards,

    Geok Suan.

  30. Hello Sue, Jeff and all,

Thank you for the enjoyable evening at The Basilico.
The Food was good but it was the company of nice SHCians that made the difference.

    To Sue and Jeff,
Many thanks for organising the Fine Dining event.

    Sue,you are a great Hostess.

    Have a good week-end everyone.

    Regards,

    Geok Suan

  31. Hi Geok Suan and all Fine-Diners,

Just want to record my sincere thanks to you all for your wonderful company last nite @ the Basilico Restaurant. All members were ‘dressed up to the nines’ and its through your good social class of etiquette displayed & scintillating dinner chat that helps to jazz up an evening of Fine-Dining.

Greatly appreciate your kind support and do stay tuned for a sequel of fine-dining planned along the pipeline…

    Cheerio!

  32. Sue,

Thanks for organising another sumptuous and enchanting
evening at such a fine restaurant. The atmosphere was great
as you got a whole ‘room’ for our group.

    Bravo and keep it up!

    james

Photos are npow up in the website.

My apologies for the delay…Boon Liang had e-mailed me the link to his msn page on Nov 12 but I dismissed this as one of those spam mails(which I had been getting quite a few these days). If he had not called to check before his trip to HK yesterday I would have thought that no photos were take on that day :0)

Now I am wondering if anyone had sent me any photos of other events which had escaped my attention, if so pls drop me a note and re-send the photos

Please take not too that I DO NOT use sockiesg@gmail.com anymore so please refrain from using this and send all mails to sockie_sg@hotmail.com instead
