Calling all nature lovers and those who want escape from the hustle and bustle of city life
in Singapore:
Come, join us,,,, stroll back to the 60s… leave all cares behind.
Let this island’s natural and rustic charm soothes your soul!                  emoticon

Our walk will take us all the way to Chek Jawa; Walking under the swaying coconut palms, lush
greenery, birds, through “country’ roads where the air is fresh.
Chek Jawa one of Singapore’s richest ecosystems!
Apparently, on 9April, in the morning the tide is low, hopefully it is low enough and unveils
the marine life there.

Our walk ends once we are back to Ubin town centre.
Do not leave Ubin without feasting on some seafood which is fresh and prices are reasonable.

When you have rested, feasted and recharged, you may go to explore the nearby Sensory Trail –
a small garden with fruit trees, spices and herbs for cooking, applants used in traditional
medicine and native plants of the mangrove forest.

NOTE
Bring poncho, hat, insect repellent, binocular and camera.  Country roads might be slippery,
shoes or track shoes are strongly recommended.  No slippers/sandals as they are also an
open invitation to insects/mosquitoes.

1.  Walk single file when road is narrow, Always keep to the left side of the road. Do not
wander off or lag behind, stay with the group!
2.  Bring your own drinking water.  Water from public toilets and wells is not suitable for
drinking or bathing. As lunch might be late for some, bring snacks but no littering.
3.  Avoid feeding, touching, harassing or capturing any wild animal.
4.  Hornets and wild bees are potentially dangerous when disturbed – stay clear of any nest
or hive and report its location to the National Parks Board immediately.
5.  Shelters are few and small.  During our trail, toilets are found at Ubin Town and Chek Jawa.
6.  Spray insect repellant esp if mosquitoes loves your blood!

  3. Hi Christina /Charles Wee,

I would like to join this scenic walk back to the 60s. Had been before with Conrad Tang who organise this walk for us long time ago.

I always looking forward to this Nature walk. If u r lucky u can see the wild boars. No fear,in fact they fear us.

Alternative route:- From Pasir Ris stn . walk towards the overhead bridge head and take the bus ? from there. More buses are available here and more frequent services than at Tanah Merah.

    Group 1 pls.
    Johnny Walker. ha! ha!

After lunch, it is F&E, if you opt out going to the Sensory Trail, you may take the bumboat back to SG.

The Sensory Trail might take 1 hour or 2hrs to complete ,,,, it depends on what attracts :D

  12. Hi Grace Ng @ 25 or others,

Those of you who want to go to P Ubin can meet me at 8.00 AM latest at Pasir Ris MRT Stn control gate and I will accompany you to the bus stop for transfer to Changi Point terminal.

For those who are new members, look out for the “giraffe” among the crowd. I

It is better to be earlier there than to be late. If we reach much earlier we can spend some time having break fast at Changi Hawker centre.
    See you tomorrow.

  13. #30, #21 MyraC,

    noted your registration for MarithaC.

    Cheerio!
    ChristinaCL

  17. #25 GraceN,

I understand that Pasir Ris MRT is the nearest MRT to Changi Village Bus Terminal. There is a bus service #109 along Pasir Ris Central, travel time approx 20-30mins.

    Directions from Map:
    Pasir Ris MRT, Exit A
Turn Right (walk beside White Sands) straight out to
    Pasir Ris Central
the nearer bus stop is on the Right (same side of the road).

    Trust above is helpful!

    Cheerio!
    ChristinaCL

  18. #39 Dear GraceN,

correction: There is a bust service #109 along Pasir Ris Drive 1!

    Directions from Map:
    Pasir Ris MRT, Exit A
Turn Right (walk beside White Sands) straight out to
    Pasir Ris Central
the nearer bus stop is on the Right along Pasir Ris Drive 1 (same side of the road).

  19. this morning the online traffic seems very busy… just realized that 1 comment went missing…

Noted all new registrations and your names will be update in the list. Thanks!

    Cheerio!
    ChristinaCL

    See you next walks,,,

    Cheerio,
    ChristinaCL

  23. Am unable to edit my post, will add the name list here:

    26. Anna Seet
    27. Lynn
    28. Margaret Soo
    29. Janis Han

C all of you tomorrow morning!
    ChristinaCL

  24. Thanks Christina for organising this walk….i enjoyed it totally; good company with good weather plus good food and nice walk. Once again, thanks Christina and team.

    Janie

  25. Thank u Christina and everyone for the gd times during the walk. I enjoyed the walk as well as the seafood lunch, esp. crispy sotong and chilli tua tao – “so good”.

See you again in the next walk!

  26. I used to write a lot, and thus saying no less. Nice of Terence to remember and relish that prophetic part of me in another thread.

Other than good weather and the activity itself, I believe the organising people adds to the success formula.

The strong repute of the Walk Team Committee will, in my opinion, continue to attract not just a healthy turnout but good company to boot. They stay focussed on the objective of the activity i.e. to admire and share the majesties of sceneries, and leave gossips to the loo.

Lisa-O, KK Loh, Chin Hee Weng, YK…….are some others who will hv crowd thronging their events. I am sure.

  27. #52 #53 #54 :
Hi Janie, June, Myra: appreciate your thanks once again! Am glad you and others had enjoyed this walk.

I also wish to express my appreciation to all esp those who has to commute by more than 2 modes of transport eg., bus/LRT/MRT/bus, those who came from the far West to the far East, literally end to end! to make it to Changi Point Ferry terminal before 8.30am; am able to emphasize because I am not an early riser… kekeke

    Once again —
To all who joined us in our various walks: allow me to share with you,,,,
it has not been easy for the Walk team either. We need to source for new routes; do a recce of new routes and/or routes that have not been visited for some time before bringing it to you, walkists.

I, myself has more than once, thought of giving up! but, then, each time your HAPPY, smiley faces gives great JOY! and it is all worth our time and effort to bring and share with you the beautiful landscapes of Singapore!

    Most Sincere THANKS!
    ChristinaCL Chan

  28. Don’t give up! Our happy and smiley faces are genuine.

It’s always been exciting to know especially the ulu places in Singapore where we would never tread on by ourselves and with the company of chirpy fellow walkers.

Thanks so much Walk Team! Keep it up!
