Monthly walk: Bishan to Potong Pasir

THIS POST is posted on behalf of Charles Wee who is away;  he will be back to lead this walk!     emoticon

Date    13th August , Saturday 4.30pm

Duration: approx 2.5 – 3hrs, depending on pace.

Meet:    Near taxi stand at Bishan Road  (just outside Bishan MRT)

Walk leaders:  Charles Wee & ChristinaCL Chan

After our strenuous railway walk last month, we shall now do an easy  walk for August.
The Walk begins from Bishan MRT towards the nearby Sports Complex ,  along a canal which is actually the beginning of the Kallang River .

This walking route which ends at Potong Pasir , takes us  past the Bishan MRT depot, underneath the CTE , across the overhead bridge at Braddel Road  and towards St Andrew’s School.

On the way, if lady luck smiles on us,  we  may spot some cranes feeding in the "Sungei"/river and some small time fishermen hoping to get a bigger "catch"  than what is possible.

Nearer to Potong Pasir,  the canal broadens into a river. The scenery here is very peaceful and picturesque,,,,  R  E  L  A  X  I  N  G !   Try your photographing skills  to capture somebeautiful shots!  emoticon

We will soon reach the well known Sri Sivadurga temple after crossing the bridge over the river.  Opposite the temple is a coffee shop, famous for its freshly made  paos and siewmais.  Ideal for a short  Rest&Refreshment before we proceed to Potong Pasir MRT where we will end our walk.

The Walk Team EOs:  Charles Wee, Veronica Wong, Mary Tan, Jeffrey Lim, Joyce Tan, Serene Low,Conrad Tang and ChristinaCL Chan.

  1. Hi Charles W and Christina C,

Thanks for organising this walk. I shall be the first to register.

Looks interesting even tho’its short. But am interested in the kopi shop selling paus. Nowadays difficult to get paus made the old-fashioned way, with turnips as part of the fillings. Most I see are the factory made ones or those in the dimsum restaurants.

    Looking forward to the walk.

  2. Good day EOs.

  13. Hi,

Besides being the first to register, let me be the first to thank the organisers, Christina Chan and Charles Wee for so ably arranging and leading this walk.

I saw a lot of happy faces and the weather was wonderful, first a shower to cool the temperature and some clouds to cover the Sun.

Even though the pau stall was closed, nobody complained.
I shall try it another day for breakfast now that I know the place.

    Cheers to all

  14. Dear Charles Wee & Christina Chan

Thank you for the scenic walk this afternoon. Really enjoyed the walk, scenery and fellowship among SHCians.

Also, thanks to Charles Chua on his tips on how to ride a bicycle. Will try and put it into practice!

Cheerio till we meet again next month,
    Gabriella

  15. Dear Charles Wee & Christina Chan,

Thanks to the above organisers for bringing us for a wonderful and beautiful scenic walk from Bishan to Potong Pasir. Though the setting sun was a little humid, we did managed to complete our journey with much sweat. It is also a good time to build bonds with fellows old and new SHC members.

Also took some photos for rememberance which I will be forwarding them to SHC Administrator for publication later. Also will be on my Facebook too.

Looking forward to our next walk in Sep. See you all again then. Have a good weekend !

    Rgds,
    Danny Lye
