Nok, my wife and the person behind the workings of Silverhairsclub

Nok is the name of my wife. She is Thai. When SilverHairsClub started in 2005, she was 39, and therefore could not join as a member. She knew I was always pursuing my interest in bringing Singaporean seniors over 45 together. And, she was very supportive in Silverhairsclub because she knew someday all of us will grow old and will need the support of one another. She engages in many ideas to help achieve our club objective. She joins us on Thai trips to show us the sights of Thailand . Some of you have met her.

During the last 8 years, when she was in Perth while my son studies to be a commercial pilot, she took the option to volunteer to work in an age-care home. She hope to contribute her experience and knowledge serving the Australian aged community, and at a later date to the Silverhairsclub community when she returned to Thailand 2 years ago.

My wife suffers from colon cancer some 3 years ago. She fought cancer and underwent various rounds of chemotherapy and surgery of abnormen. She suffered tremendous fatique and pain, every few hours a day. Last week, I and my son spoke with her oncologist, and the recommendation was increased morphine dosage and sleeping drugs. The doc told her to expect last days.

We are now back at her hometown in Korat, spending time to keep her company.

I know many of you question why I organise activities and fail to turn up last minute. I hope you understand.

As of now, I only wish to spend time with my wife. Meantime, please continue to take care of your health.

Terence Seah

  2. Dear Terence

Many years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting your wife, Nok for the first time. Very sweet and soft spoken. And your son who was just a little boy at that time.. A very lovely family. It may sound cliche but behind this good man, there is this awesome woman.
Its not easy running a club and we appreciate very much the time, effort and money you both spent in doing this for us. Through your efforts, many members have found good friends, me being one of them and I am eternally grateful for this platform to have the opportunity to do things I enjoy with friends.
It must have been hard on the family, especially the pain from the illness that Nok is going through. But with you and son by her side, her pain will be lessen.
Stay strong and take care. We are here for you.
Please give many hugs to Nok for me and tell her we are praying for her to have restful and calm days ahead.
With much love and respect to both of you!
    Caroline

    • Eternal rest grant unto Nok may she rest in peace.

Stay strong Terrence….I pray that you will be protected and be given extraordinary strength during this difficult time.

  3. My dear buddy,
Well said and absolutely agreed and very thankful and much appreciated to both Terence and Nok for their thankless efforts for SHC. Met Nok many years back too but was not too familiar with her then. But my recent trip to KY, glad to have a chance to interact with her and despite of her tiredness, she did not for once, displayed any signs of displeasure and disagreement but simply quietly did what she can to make this trip interesting. My greatest salute to you, Nok.

    Dear Terence,
It must be hard for you especially now Nok is in great pain but I am also sure that with both of you by her side, the pain will be more bearable. Please give her my many hugs to Nok too and let her know we are praying for her to have peaceful and calm days ahead.

With much love and respect to both of you!

  4. Dear Terence

We know the difficult situation you are going through and it is for this reason that I write this note. You are a valuable person and you have always been with us throughout our life .

Do not forget TERENCE that all the people who love you are with you at this time and we wish the best for her. I always pray for her fast recovery

I heard that she is going through chemotherapy? I’m sorry to hear that, but I hope that it won’t be for long. I hope that  will soon regain some strength.

Let me know when she feel up for visitors and I’ll come over. This must be a very difficult time in her life right now. I hope that the medications that the doctors are giving her are helping her feel better. Remember, BOTH are missed and that we all care.

May she feel her usual self again in no time.I pray she return to full health soon .

With much love and respect to both of you!
    Stella.

  5. Terence,
Pray for the speedy recovery for Nok with God’s hand to heal and remove the cancer from her. Yes, you should spend more times with her and your family as you have been busy here looking into SHC’s activities. Don’t have to worry as there are always members here to help out and pray for her and your family. Take care and the Lord Be with You and your family. AMEN.

  6. Hi Terence
You have my admiration for being the founder of SHC and being the good man /husband behind Nok. I have had the privilege to meet Nok and your son many years ago when I first joined SHC. It was a memorable trip together with Molly, Nor, Ah Nee, Rene & Dolly, etc..
It’s not easy for you to pen down this note as I know the pain you and your wife are going through during this difficult period together.
We will keep Nok and your family in prayers!

    Take care !
Hugs & love to both of you!
    Sue Chang

  7. Tq everybody for your concern. I appreciate your words. I learn cancer strikes fast and can attack anyone, even if one leads a healthy lifestyle. The pain from cancer is just humanly unbearable. I wish an end as quickly as possible. Be on guard against cancer

  29. My wife passed away last Sat, and this will change my life as we had been together 20 years. But for sure, I shall continue to make Thailand my second home, make Perth my holiday home for the next one year and travel more to India, China and Around Asean on business.

Two main interests will remain my focus. One, to continue and expand the Silverhairsclub platform and objective and two, to continue my business in brown packaging paper.

I will spend more time a week in Singapore, so I can be committed to attend club gatherings. If any member is equally interested to expand the circle of Silverhairs friends, feel free to contact me on WhatsApp.

This sets the direction of my time ahead of 2020.

    Terence Seah

  30. Today, 1 week after my wife’s passing, I have managed to settle most of the must do work in Thailand.

I thank everyone who had written me condolences and gave me advice on moving on my life.

I also thank you for the donations. My wife’s family are appreciative as they come from one of the poorest villages in North East Thailand.

And to Dolly, Stella and Weng, I appreciate the long driving trip late in the cold and dark night to my wife’s funeral, at her Korat hometown in one of the most remote parts of Thailand.

I like to close this post and comments in about 1 week, and we move on with Silverhairsclub activities.

Thank you everybody for being a part of my wife’s memories.

    Terence Seah

  31. Dear Terence

Thank you for letting us know. My apologies for not being able to do more than what I would have wished to do.
It takes time to feel less pain. Surround yourself with friends and positive people. Keep busy with work and take up some hobbies.
The pain cannot go away completely, but hopefully with time, it will lessen.
    Take care!
    Hugs from
    Caroline

  32. Dear Terence,
Thank you very much to keep us updated of your current well-being. Agreed with my buddy, Carly that right now, time will be the utmost healing factor and pain of your lost loved wife, hopefully will lessen though not completely.

Stay strong and keep busy with other activities and of cos, spending more time with your son, Alex too.

    Many love and hugs,
    Dolly
