  1. Wah Douglas,

You want to train the ladies to take the sun eh? Good for you. So all tanned and prepared for Desaru. Might as well get it over with.

I cannot join you as I have an appointment in that afternoon.

Have a good and safe ride

  2. Aiyo “charm liao”…so long never cycle, don’t know my standard drop or not?

Douglas, you on stand by, in case I need you to push my bike….hehehe…thank you for leading the cyclist another challenging ride!

    Ah Nee

  3. Yay, Carly & Daniel – Good to see you again.

& Charles Wee??? – Wow, the founder of SHC monthly cycling!
For those who didn’t know, Charles Wee was the one who started this monthly cycling way back in 2005. Nice to see you again Charles :)

TSoo – Hope you have your own bike if you are joining from Bedok jetty. BTW, all the public carparks are free – why you must join from Bedok?

Charles Chua – You cannot join because our cycling is in the morning and your appointment is in the afternoon??

Ah Nee – mai keki la. No matter how your standard dropped, you will still be better than me hor.

  4. Hi EO,

    Tentatively, please register me….

Hope that I can “siam” from my overseas customer who will be in town next weekend for a short visit….

Btw, it may be more prudent to start earlier, say about 9am. Because I think the route is long and will take quite a bit of time to complete and we want to avoid the Blazing Hot Sun of 1100hrs to 1500hrs…. correct?

  5. halo halo halo EO dolly & lily jie ,

maybe if , i can take lave from my work hor…i also like to join u buddies as a car kaypoh & like to join in lah..

ah nee ( mas angels ) come & challenge yr stamina wif my humble hong chia vs yr kare lar chia hor…( biscycle ) hahaha…

  6. Dear Lily

Cycling is getting hot this time round. Maybe because its held in the morning. The earlier the better for me but then for those who are living far away from ECP, they may be disadvantaged.

I am a morning person so I am looking forward to it.

Ah Nee, I am still “recuperating” so stamina no good. I think we must jia yiu together :) I will probably need a lot of breaks in between.

Xiao Di – I know you are just looking forward to the end of the cycling so that you can go for a big makan together right.

    Cheers
    Carly

  7. Hi Lily,

I have to meet a friend from Changi Hilton on that day. Appt is at noon. I have to leave the whole afternoon/day free as you never know how long these meets take.

For sure I would prefer to cycle in Bedok but I have to do this first.

  8. Just to share – a bicycle kiosk has just set up shop at Punggol Park. Great access to the Serangoon PCN and Punggol Promenade. Might want to consider this for your next event.

  9. Lily

I plan to bring my bike and I thought the Bedok Jetty car park is the only one that is free. Are the others all free???!!.

Anyway, I just came back from the doctors. One of them wants to put me on TV next Friday and he said I should stay at home the following day. So, looks like I have to miss this ride. My bike was longing forward to go out for his 3rd time since living with me. I have not been a good owner.

  10. Hi Lily,
When is the next event? Let me check my calendar if I can make a guest appearance. Have to be in the morning though. I normally have something on Saturday afternoon.

    Cheers

Hi Lily, yes there is a bicycle kiosk at punggol park and all are New bic.
I have spoken to them and they are able to give good rates for group.

Hi EO – the kiosk is just beside the canal/river near traffics junction. Easily found….

    Cheers!
    Lai Fong

  12. Hi Ivan, Eileen & Peggy
    Welcome your participation.

    Hi Sam
Welcome too even if it is just kooning.

    Hi Conrad
Thanks for the favourable response. Will check with our cycling chief and revert accordingly via email. Noted it will have to be in the morning.

    Hi Lai Fong
Thanks for speaking to them on behalf. I tried google again in PCN web but no mention of kiosk. Glad you had verified.

We hope to do this Punggol-Seranggoon route in the very near future and hope you’ll be able to join us.

    Thanks for all the feedback.

  13. Hi Al,
Ever since, I started to cycle at ECP. McDonald Marina Cove is 1 of a must spot dat I never missed, be it 4 meal or just 1 ice-cream wif chips. Sad to say dat this kind of occasion will no longer b available at Marina Cove as their last day of business will be on March 18’12. Yeap, right, 1 day after our cycling event on Mar 17’12.. So sad, so let’s try 2 go there abit early 4 our usual chit chat b4 proceeding 2 bicycle rental. Sigh.. I also read from newspaper, most of d eateries there will also be ceasing their business b4 Mar 18’12 which is also our favorite hunt 4 dinner after cycling.. This kind of atmosphere will no longer b there till we r able 2 find another meeting place for the next mth cycling event… anyone care to share 1 thought or 2?
    Cheers.. Dolly

  14. There’s another recently opened McDonalds next to E1 Car Park, where the Jumbo and Long Beach Seafood Restaurants are located.

Near the Lagoon Ski Park & the Lagoon Food Centre.

Other choices for meeting place to consider will be at Burger King, Subway or the Lagoon Food Ctr.

Btw, why are some food outlets closing?

  15. Hi Peggy,
Yeap, I noe this newly opened McD but not sure if d car park is free anot lor…

From what I understands from the newspaper, NParks are taking back these place for further improvements.

    Cheers.. Dolly

  16. Dolly

This car park is not free, neither is the one next to the Lagoon Food Centre. Anyway there isn’t any bicycle kiosk near to this Mac.

F’1′ carpark which is some walking distance to the Lagoon Fiod Court is free & there’s a bike kiosk next to the food court.

If Burger King & Subway are not closing, these will be good meeting points.

    Rgds

  17. Suggest that you all can try “The Seafood Intl Market & Seafood Rstnt” its a nice place , its now open for breakfast serving, can fill yur stomach n also chit chat before the cycling start..if i m no wrong its FREE parking .
    902 East Coast Parkway ,
Blk B, playground @ Big Splash

    Check it out !!

    Cheers

  18. Hi Audrey
Thanks for ur recommendation, there are indeed a few nice restaurants over there but car parking @ Big Splash is chargeable & there isn’t any bike kiosk nearby leh…

  19. Hi Dolly

See whether this area will help to solve your eating-place woe:

From Marine Cove, you can take the underground pass & walk about 5 to 7 mins to Marine Terrace Market. There are two coffeeshops with local, Chinese & western food. If your cycling ends in the morning, the Hawker Centre will add to your food choices. No problem for parking of bikes & cars.

  20. Hi EO,

I am unlikely to join the cycling event this Saturday ….. duty calls and the rice-bowl (aka customer) comes first.

So, as usual, do not wait for me if the appointed meeting time lapses…

See you all next time. TQ.

p/s: The Ponggol Park PCN looks good for next mth’s cycling venue…..

  21. wow wow heng ah leave approval liao..so me cfrm coming liao hor..carly jie wu bake any puffs or muffin bo lah? hahahaha

    ai cheong liao lah!!

  22. Hi all cyclists

Thanks for joining us in the ride through Bedok Park connector and back to ECP McDonald via Siglap Park connector. We may do the reserve route another time.

I would like to put some words of encouragement to Dolly, Lily and Dan Huang who were able to complete the ride with ease. The distance covered was about 22km. Well done.

    cheers

  23. Alamak, was typing a long comts n abt 2 press d submit button, the system hanged liao… so now, hv 2 retype again.. sigh..

Yeterday, a group of us covered at least 22km starting from ECP to Bedok PCN. I don’t know about others, for me, reli sibeh tired but also sibeh enjoyable lor…

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the fellow members for their selfless effort/help so dat I can complete the full ride.

Douglas – Our leader, always make sure that this cycling will not die from natural death. Most important, if not for him, I don’t think I am able to complete d ride at all. why? cos he kept telling me dat makan makan will be around soon n I kept cycled n cycled lor.. hahaha.. He even helped me 2 carry out d bicycle up on d overhead bridge as I was already dead tired liao n no more stamina lor…

Daniel/CharlesW – Thank you for fixing d bicycle n imparted knowledge so, now, I understood liao…

Joyce, long time no c n glad dat u came along 2b d last sweeper of the group 2 ensure that there is no lost lamb on the way..

Not forgotten mentioned Eileen – eventhough this is 1st time dat I met her – she was also very helpful n always around when help needed. I saw her helping ANee carrying d bicyle up d overhead bridge. Wow, carrying 2 bicyles up d overhead bridge hor.. very terok hor…

As others, I reli enjoyed d fellowship before and after cycling.. Thank you and hope to see all of you again next mth lor..

    Cheers.. Dolly

  24. Hi Douglas

You are our leader not by choice but by circumstance. You have earned our respect. What you have decided, we will follow. After yesterday’s cycling, both Dolly and I spoke about you and the other 3 very helpful seasoned cyclists, Charles, Eileen and Joyce. You all have given us good reasons to continue cycling. Thank you for your patience and tolerance towards us.

    Warmest Regards

  25. When we were told that we have to cross over to the other side of the road by the overhead bridge….I said “charm liao” how to bring my bike up the flight of steps??? Aiyo no energy & strength leh, luckily our strong lady Eileen Ang help me….thank you to Eileen Ang!

It was very challenging and rewarding, all of us complete the long distance ride. Thanks to our model cyclists, Charles, Joyce, Eileen and leader Douglas, you all definitely made us feel safe and confident in our cycling trip. Cheers!

    Ah Nee

  26. Hi guys

Glad to hear the not so strong ones are getting stronger n the best, the cycling activities are going strong n steady.

Keep it up. Hopefully one day we can ride together to Desaru n put up a nite there. We can spend time to stare at the moon n stars n chat up the nite sipping beer/wine n eating ter kar.

  27. We love cycling, I love outdoor… Feel really good to see people in action and be part of it.
Thumbs up to all cyclists braving it out under hot sun and looking forward to longer rides.

All of us can do it, just keep pedalling.

    Cheers,
    Joyce

  28. Hi Joyce/Eileen
Thank you for turning up and assisting us as a sweeper, without you, I may have to go forth and back to check on the last cyclist.
Eileen the strong lady who carried Ah Nee’s bike up the overhead bridge like a piece of rag.Thank you.

    Hi Charles
Welcome back to shc cycling, we need your inspiration and motivation to keep shc cycling alive.

    cheers

  29. It was a wonderful ride, very pleasant and satisfying. Cycling is a really good way to healthy living, making new friends and nuturing old ones.
Thanks to Lily , Douglas for organizing the event and all who participated.

  30. Thanks to Joyce who waited for me and everyone else and to Doug who fixed my tyre. Yes it was very very very hot, had to put ice cubes on my head when I went home.

    Anna Aminah Seet

  31. Hi Dolly, Ah Nee and Douglas you are welcome, I just
gave a humble hand, not much great help..
