Dear Freinds,

Calling all Volunteers

Time flies. THe Silverhairians did a very good job for two years, by entertaining the old folks in with Dancing and Karaoke. They loved it very much and brought them cheers and laughter . This year they are looking forward to this event again. The musicians can bring their instruments.

It would be great, if someone can head this event.  Many thanks.  God Bless.

    May 1st is coming up and there is no EO still. Who is/can be EO?

    Dolly and Sam,

    Why don’t you EO this event since you have done this many times, both here at the Home and elsewhere, even in JB?

    Jeff Gan, Can you and your lovely wifey help or not? They need your music and MCing. Can’t think of anyone else.

    Just think of all that lovely food going to waste if there is no EO.

    Last year Stephen and I helped, but in a very limited way. Anyway this year, Stephen is now in KL and I have to rest my arm, due to a torn ligament, so cannot carry anything heavy, so we are out of the picture.

    Anyone else?

    Sorry to hear of your torn ligament.

    If Jeff & Irene are busy, I was going to ask Charles Cher if he can help provide the music. Will revert by this Thur.

    Not to worry about having an EO. Sam & Dolly are pretty busy with their respective jobs. Nelly can continue to head this project and rest assured someone will help to monitor the website for her.

    I cannot sing or dance and generally useless as an entertainer. But if we are short of volunteers, I will go and carry chairs, tables and serve food. Do you need cash donations?

    Thanks for the assurance. Guess if the music and food is taken care off, we just need some volunteers to hand-hold the old fogies. Maybe some finger-nail cutting, or dare I say it, a hair-cutter/trimmer.

    Hi Tian Soo,

    For sure they need cash donations. Nowadays everything you want/need done in Singapore needs ‘chien’, no money, no talk. Just make the cheque crossed and payable to “St Joseph’s Home” and pass it to Dolly for safekeeping and delivery.

    This is one of the older and more established homes in Singapore, also they are running at full capacity.

    Any more kind souls out there?

    Nelly told me dat there will b The Canossian School Band coming over to entertain but the Home is still open to SHC volunteers to feed n mingle with them.

    So no worry abt no EO, just go n help out if can lo.

    All events organised for fellow members must have an EO or EC. SilverHairsClub does not promote external activities or events, charity or commercial. The EO or EC is in charge of the activity. Please confirm you are the EO or EC of this event.

    I see both of you are now the ECs for his event.

    Thanks for volunteering. I would like to help too, as a volunteer.

    As I see it, the food is arranged by you with RCC, Lily has twisted Charles Cher’s arms to provide the music, hopefully some more SHC members will volunteer to do the leg work, hand-holding, and other heavy duty stuff like carrying tables and food-serving, and all we need is some impromptu singers and an MC. Thomas, can volunteer or not? We need your sweet voice and bilingual talent to engage the residents.

    We are more than past the half-way mark.

    I may not be able to help this year.

    To Charles,
    Sorry to learn that you have a torn ligament. Please go on internet to read about “Viatrial S” which is glucosamine sulphate for repairing ligaments, derived from sea products.
    It comes in caps/tabs too but I take the powdered type. 1 sachet of it in a cup of water 2-3 days and it has helped me stand on my feet mon to friday at work.Good for my knee ligaments,don’t know about shoulder ligament altho seems like it should work too. It is expensive. $70 -$80 for 30sachets. So pls read up 1st b4 buying it. Poly clinic pharmacy maybe cheaper.

    I assume you are the EO/ECs for this event.

    Is it still on? What time do we meet? Is there an MC? I thot of getting some token appreciation for the main helpers, band, etc, so would like some confirmation before I get them.

    Also looks like not very many volunteers, so was wondering if its ok to get outside volunteers. But we need time to arrrange. As I see it, not much happening, so at least some pointers?

    Nelly passed me this msg as she tried numerous times 2 write comments but every time not successful.

    As much as she wanted SHC members to entertain the old folks but the head of SJH decided that for this year, they want to have their own Canossian School Band to play instead. If we add on another music entertainment, SJH is afraid the hours will be too long for the old folks and they might not able to take it, hence, will need to call off our musicial event. However, all volunteers are welcome to help out to feed them and mingle with them.” Unquote.

    Hence, those that have signed up volunteer to help, we still can go ahead to help out.

    Charles, as this is now an EC event, hence, outsiders are also welcome.
