Back to our SHC monthly gathering in the CBD, Wed Oct 17, 2012

It’s being sometime since we last had our SHC monthly gathering in the CBD.
 Well, let’s put the date and place back again.

  • Venue:  Hans Cafe and restaurant, Great Eastern building, Upper
    Pickering Street.
  • Date:  Wed Oct 17, 2012
  • Time:  1600 hrs to 2000 hrs
  • Fee:  No charge.  Simply buy what you like to drink or eat at the
    counter.
  • Name Tag:  Please bring your name tag or make one.

This year is the SilverHairsClub’s 7th anniversary.  If you can make it
to this gathering by 6.45 pm, we will have a photoshoot and a large birthday
cake cutting session at 7.00 pm.  If you like to be a part of this
memorable event, please come and join your friends at the photoshoot.

    Nowadays, we noticed that registration can come a few days before any monthly gathering. I guess most members are shy to withdraw last minute or just too busy with work and family schedules. I tend to think many are very busy, esp with work.

  12. Hi everybody,

    It’s always been on my mind as well as other EO/EC’s minds to think of ways of getting fellow SilverHairs together. This goes the same for the Oct SHC monthly gathering. Even got to think of tieing this event with the Club’s 7th anniversary.

    Well, I think we should have a large cake. I don’t know how many members will turn up to celebrate this anniversary, but we should have a cake.

    I have been travelling, and I have planned to be back on this evening event. I need some help. Can I ask someone to liaise with Hans at Upp Perkering to make a 2 kg cake for this evening? Include candles too, 7 candles. SHE shall pay for it.

  13. Our monthly SHC gathering in the CBD is on next week on Oct 17. We will also be celebrating our 7th anniversary of the SilverHairsClub.

    A 2kg birthday cake will be organised with Hans Cafe and Restaurant, at Upper Pickering Road, Great East Eastern Building. We shall gather for a cake cutting plus birthday song at 7pm. I look forward to seeing old and new members there. Janie Leong has kindly offered to run down to Hans Restaurant to make arrangements on the cake. Thank you Janie.

    And, hi JuneC, sure, I remembered your teaching me how to paint. I hope to see more of you participating or organising SilverHairs activities.

    Thanks for the honour of asking me to lead the SHC 7th Anniversary song on our coming get-together on Wed October 17th, will be much obliged.

    Terence, your memory power is, so much better than mine, after a lapse of so many years the “Chicken Song” is still fresh in your mind, so much so, it goes well together with the “Chicken Dance”, where all the participants circled round the dance floor, thoroughly enjoyed themselves that
    very night. The memory comes back to me that to scout around Singapore at that very time for the “Chicken Dance Song” CD was a good experience.

    The banner picture is interesting. Brings back memories. The man is Tian Soo and i think the lady in printed blouse is Ann Lim. Methinks Tian Soo, with his crop of silver hair, is a good poster boy for the Silverhair club. :)

  39. Thank you everybody who will be coming to the SilverHairsClub Oct monthly gathering cum SHC’s 7th anniversary.

    This is a platform for you to meet new and old SHC friends. We start at 4pm, especially for those who are retired or semi-retired. Then, the working SHCians will start to come in from 6pm. We continue until 7pm where we will have a cake-cutting, cake organised by Janie Leong and made by Hans. Janie, remember, this is 7 candles.

    Ron Lai will lead with taking us through a brief introduction, followed by something. I am not sure what it will be, but the most important thing is you are there, and we catch up with one another.

    Closing registration is Wednesday 1300 hours. After that, all walk-ins will have to face the wall, and write 1000 lines of “I will be a good boy” or the teacher will knock you on the back of your palm. Haha, better to register.

    Can I have someone to help me with the registration desk. Simply tick the names against the attendance list.

    So, dont forget your name tack. The bigger your name the better. I look forward to meeting all of you. And, feel free to walk around and chat with others in the party.

    Yes, the crop of silverhair belong to me, but it was years ago. Now there are about 50% left. But I still cannot be the poster boy for SHC. We have to wait another few more years till only 6 hairs are left. Than I will match the logo.

    Sorry for my ignorance, what did you mean by “TVM”? HBD: “Happy Birthday Day” I know. I tried to make a guess “Television Malaysia”, but that did not make a connection.
    The abbreviation for “Thailand Vietnam Mongolia” is also
    not applicable. TVM is so uncommon that it is not easily understood.

    Please write something that SHC readers need not ask for your clarifications.

  50. I hope we will have 50 members coming tomorrow at our OCT monthly gathering and 7th aniversary.

    Jenny just reminded today that if we hit this number, how are we to share a 2 kg birthday cake. I hope everybody will be ok if each pc is 40 grams. One of the criteria which I gave Jenny was the cake should not be too sweet, hopefully this gels the diet of most SilverHairs.

  57. When you come today to the Hans Cafe and Restaurant for the SHC monthly gathering, please go straight and see Lawrence Lee. He is a cheerful, slightly grey haired and friendly. Go over to see him, and have your name ticked against the attendees list.

    Please come with your name tag, so that everybody can recognise you. This is important, so others can get to call you by your first name.

    And, Lawrence, thank you for your offer to do the registration.

    For everybody else, please be conscious and make an effort to sit down on your chair no more than 15 minutes. We want you to mingle around with new and old friends.

  66. It seems like only yesterday SHC began. Imagine, it’s been seven years since its inception – seven years of gathering silver threads and golden needles into one fold. :)

    Time, like the river of no return, swiftly flows away and only memories remain – happy memories that a little bit of soap cannot wash away and silver bells are still ringing for many more years to come, for we are still the young ones – at heart – and it’s a time for us to celebrate and feel on top of the world, tonight, at downtown Hans. :)

  70. A big thank you to everybody who came to the 7th anniversary gathering cum monthly gathering, and also those who did not come because of the rain and other committments but had SHC always at heart.

    It was indeed touching to know that many came because it was the SilverHairsClub 7th anniverary, and wish the club many more years to come.

    Ron Lai kicked off the 7pm cake cutting, and it was a great relief that we were able to cut the 2kg cake and divide it among close to 60 people, approx 30 grams each. Janie Leong organised the tasty mango cake.

    This is the first time we celebrate our anniversary, small scale. Perhaps, next year, it can grow bigger and grander.
