shcfleamart

The guidelines and regulations for advertising on the online flea mart have been revised and updated to include more services and to widen the scope of advertisements.  Comments/queries regarding an advertisement are now permitted.  It is also hoped that advertiser inform readers if their advertised items have been sold  so that the usefulness of the online flea mart to members can be assessed.

If you have personal/’professional’ skills like dressmaking, clothes alteration,  repairing / mending/fixing…. do advertise your services.  This online flea mart site is here to serve members (not companies), so do make full use of it.   :)

Guidelines (regulations)

1. Members can advertise twice per month

2. Each advertisement must not be longer than 10 lines.

3. Members can advertise their personal services. eg, dress alteration, plumbing etc

5. Enquiries/comments  regarding the item/service advertised are permitted but NOT  chatting.

6, Company products, agent’s services are not permitted.

I came to know about the SHC from eNN (Seng Kang). My interests are varied. I write on the forum regularly to improve my writing. In my autumn years, my priority is voluntary service. Hope to meet like-minded people and help initiate a programme/project for the disabled like the hearing impaired.

  1. Calling SHC singers and warblers!
Make karoake more enjoyable when you sing to quality stereo music on CD-graphics.
From my personal collection of English songs, I offer to burn CDG of your favourite songs at a low service fee of $8.00 for 15 titles.

Email kkyeo_sg@yahoo.com.sg with your songlist and artiste.

  2. Hi KK
This is interesting. My queries are 1) Does ‘graphics’ refer to the pictures that accompany the songs? If so, can i ask for scenaries and no bikini-clad girls?
    2) where to go to collect the finished product?
    3) Can this CDG be played in a laptop?

    Tks.

  3. Hi Carly and Jassmine

Sorry I dont convert LD to DVD.

My collection of songs are all in CDG format.

You get song lyrics scrolled in time with stereo music as per the original arrangement. Comparatively, when you sing to VCD, DVD or LD disc , one channel is cut off leaving you with mono music. Most LCD/DVD player can read and play CDG. For Laptop, you need software ( Karafun ) to play and sing to CDG.

Mail me your songlist and we can arrange payment and collection details when discs are ready.

    Rgds.

  4. Thank you KK Yeo. I have several LDs with very good songs thats why I wanted to get them converted to DVDs and i only wanted this service.

  7. I was asked this morning if 3 months stay in Bangkok is too long for most members. This apartment is actually where I stay when I am in Bangkok; and my opening this apartment up to members is to allow members to experience the life, culture and language of Thailand.

Three months is generally accepted for tourist type arrivals. Most Aseans citizens come in on a 30 day visa, which is given at the airport when you arrived. Thereafter, you can get a 60 day visa extension by going either to the borders at Laos, Cambodia or Malaysia. Most opt to go to Laos.

The Thai visa can also be extended right in the middle of Bangkok, just before the 30 days expire. Yes, this may be inconvenient. On this note, if you wish to experience Bangkok and the surrounding provinces of Chonburi, HuaHin, Kanchanaburi or Saraburi, or play golf everyday, this offer is for you to try and experience.

I just found out a week ago, that a thai cooking school has been set up below my apartment. So, if you wish to learn Thai cooking, this can be arranged downstairs.

This offer is strictly for SHC members only.

  8. Hahaha, Terence

You are trying to interest a bunch of Singaporeans to stay 3 months away from their beloved home town?? Just like the retirement village dreams… we can dream on…

No, I am not trying to pour cold water on your obviously very generous offer: What I’m trying to say is that not many Sinkies will want or be able to stay for an extended period: two weeks is the max and one month a distant possibility.

So how do we overcome this problem? Maybe we can get a few of us to commit to two-week or one-month periods and try to put together enough to cover the three months. I will start the ball rolling and volunteer for a two-week period. Any others kee chiu??

  10. Hi Terence,

I would have taken up your 3 mths offer if it is in Chiangmai. Used to stay along Sukhumvit when on assignments in BKK.

  11. Hi Kenneth,

I think we have gone over this topic on retirement outside Singapore many times on this forum. Today, I have come to one understanding after reading all the responses and feedback. Trying to bring the returement idea to fruit is really like knocking the head against the wall. I think most Singaporeans would not openly discuss the topic; and if they do, they would do so quietly.

I don’;t remember reading anything about any SilverhairsClub member living on retirement overseas for 3 months. Charity projects, maybe?

I believe James Koh has the same impression too. Short trips, no more than one month, is the direction for seniors or retirees.
