SHC’s Used PC Project

Hi fellow members

My sincere apology for keeping you guys in the dark since the first meeting was done on 14 Apr 07. We had our 2nd meeting at a member’s place this afternoon. My apology again for not broadcasting this information on the SHC’s webpage because of space constraint. 

We are now firmed to kick off this project. We want your help –   

1) To give us your name if you need a set of used and working Computer. Priority will first be given to those who cant afford to buy.

2) To donate your unused, spoilt or unwanted Computers to our Project. They will be refurbished to working condition or salvaged for parts for future use.

3) To conduct lessons for members and / or assist in helping out during the session.

4) To help in refurbishing the donated Computers and / or in writing courseware.

Collection and delivery – Fixed on 1st Sat of the month.

    My friend, William Leong in Singapore has a desktop CPU, a IBM Thinkpad laptop (both not working) and a brand new CRT monitor

    In fact, one of the main concerns the computer working group has is where to find the computers. As usual, you have led in paving the way for the first donation………grateful.

  5. Hi Mary, you are such a darling. You are so far and yet so near. I see all your postings, north, south, east, west, I see you. You are very kind and helpful. When I asked about fishing, you are so quick to response and give me contacts. It is really good to know you but have yet to meet you. Looking forward to seeing you when you come for visit.     You are an angel who I cannot resist to communicate and hope to meet you soon. You are always welcome to Perth and I can bring you to the oceans and the hills.

    I feel connected to SHC members because most of us are about the same age group, we have experienced similar things (goood and bad) in life, we share the hope of having quality life in our old age and we want to share what we have with others.

    Thanks for your great efforts and all the contacts you have gave us. I m glad this project is moving on so much faster than predicted.

    One very urgent thing now which I really need is a small area or space to store PCs that are refurbished to working state.

    Our status – collected 2 cpu n a monitor and delivered one set tonite. Now there are 3 cpu in my house (2 are from me). 5 more cpu (plus monitors) will be collected before this week ends.

    Hv posted to you on 8th May informing you that I hv one colour bubble printer Canon BJC 2555SP and two scanners, namely Canon LIDE 20 and VUEVO BRISN 3l0P used but in working conditions, but did not received any reply from you. Kindly let me know if you in need of these, otherwise I will have to dispose off the items.

    I like to be involved in IT activity.
    esp in the refurnishing the old PCs and helping in training in basics of using PCs.

  20. Hi Yew Kwong, pls refer to Stock Investing, Sharing…. @ #46. I found this place may be ideal for IT activities.

    Come for the FREE talk or we can meet up on that day to explore the possibilities for your IT club to use the place. This place has 3 floors of space.

    I fine that IT is a great driving force for us silverhairs to leap forwards.
