Hi Doug,
Is it necessary to meet at CV at 6.45am? Assuming we take the first boat over at 9 am, we can meet at 8.30am, latest. Those who want to have breakfast there (highly recommended, but not referring to the food), can reach earlier. If the boat is arranged for an earlier timing, say, 8am, then we can meet at 7.45am, breakfast concluded.
Howzat? Many people need their beauty sleep, some will be cycling there and others are simply not used to waking early.
Looking for your consideration.
Hi Charles
I would like to share with you and all readers on how the ferry usually runs between Changi PFT and Tg Pengileh.
1. Singapore ferries usually leave CPFT first thing in the morning, that is around 7++am
2. Next Singapore ferry to leave CPFT will be around 9.45/10am
3. 1st Malaysian ferry usually leave CPFT around 0815++ am
Ferries are not run on schedule based but on the number of passengers unless you agreed to book the whole boat.
I have considered your suggestion to leave Singapore later at around 9.30/10am, with this late departure, we would reach Sungai Rengit around 12 noon or later.
I too want to have my sleep, why do I need to wake up at 4am to prepare my stuff, then cycle for about 1 hrs to reach changi village for breakfast, collect rental bikes if any for members, collect passports, filled in the immigration and customs forms for the whole group.
I am doing this soley for my passion in cycling.
Yes Charles, let us sleep a bit longer, see you at CV at 8.30am for breakfast.
cheers
Hi Doug,
Yes, you are so right. It is very tough to meet expectations. Do not get distracted and stay focused on the objective.
Sadly I cannot join you in this trip. Hopefuly the next one. I really like the place.
Just wondering how tough is the trip. I am 62 and cycle once a week for about 30 KM in 2 hours with one rest stop. Am I fit enough to go on this trip?
Hi Dave
Thank you for your understanding.
My earlier timing was meant for slow leisure riders cycling between 15-20kph with 2-3 rest stops.
The total distance from Tg Pengileh to Sungai Rengit is about 36km and based on your description, I think it will not be tough for you
Fyi, Yew Kwong is organising a 2D1N cycling trip to Pengerang on 24 Aug, there are already some sign up, perhaps you may want to join him, otherwise, do join us in our monthly cycling event which is usually held on the 3rd Saturday of the month.
Cheers
Hi Douglas,
I thot you said this trip is cancelled because of too little participants and that you will me posting a cancellation?
Cheers
I heard Mr Lobster calling, count me in.
Hi Doug.
School holiday season. If can book a boat will be nice. Add me in.
Thanks Julian.
Hi Charles
As you may be aware, this cycling trip to Pengerang was especially created due to a member’s request, the timing was also amended because member feels that it is too early, after all this changes, we should proceed even if there are only 2 of us.
The setback is that we are unable to charter the whole boat because we do not have the required numbers.
We will meet at the ferry terminal and queue for the ferry, what time can we board the ferry will depends on the queue.
Hi Anna/Julian
Thank you for signing up for this cycling trip to Pengerang.
Yes, its school holiday and as usual, it could be very crowded at the jetty.
See you all at the jetty this Saturday at 9.30am.
cheers
Hi Charles
We had our breakfast at Changi Village and then we waited. Our ferry departed around 0940hrs as we could not wait for you any longer.
We had a wonderful time cycling through the villages. Some of these villages may be demolished soon.
We all had a good massage when we arrived at Sg Rengit.
I will upload some photos to shc facebook while the rest will be uploaded here.
cheers
Hi guys
I confirm too that Pengarang will no longer be accessible in time to come as the authority is transforming it into something else. It’s not late to join us @ Ramunia Beach Resort in late Aug. It’s may also be the last we are going to enjoy in Pengarang.
