  1. I have added a group photo of Pearl Goh with the rest of the SHC Batam troopers. To enlarge picture, click on it.

Pearl Goh joined our 2nd Batam trip in 2009. She is the one in the centre of the picture next to Ah Nee (with her palm on the chest). It was Pearl’s first time joining an SHC event.

In this picture, another SHC member Jonson Tan had also passed on. He is the one standing on the left in the back row behind Dolly.

Some of you may remember them. May their souls rest in peace.

  2. Pearl Goh was one of the sweetest members the Club had. I remembered that among some of us, we usually say she was the lost queen. Why? Because she would wander around, even alone, but luckily she always seem to find her way back to the agreed meeting point.\

Pearl was always a smiler. She smiled all the time, and I wonderd if she had ever been angry. I liked to tiss (right spelling?) her, yet, she would just jokingly brush aside any dirty old man.

I have not seen her for a long time, although I am aware Paul and Peggy keep in good touch with her.

It’s a pity she had left us. May the peace be with her.

And Lily, nice picture for the memories.

  3. In Memory of Pearl Goh.
    DOB: 22 Nov 1937
    Departed: 25 August 2013
Loves ones:- Brother – David Goh – Express thanks to SHC members for visitation, gratuity and condolences.

Join SHC: 2009. Found new friends and activities and participated in them such as walks, travel, gathering, mahjong etc. (Check link)
Was impress with Charles Chua charity prison work and Terence setting up SHC for senior folks. Therefore have been inviting you both to the vegetarian dinner yearly.

I came to know Pearl when I offer transportation to anyone going my way back to Bedok after the monthly meet at Han. Pearl and Frisna (being newbie) decided to drop at Kembangan MRT and complete their journey home from there. Pearl on reaching home tripped when crossing the road divider and broke her nose. From then on I offered to provide transport to and fro if she is attending SHC functions with me. And that arrangements have culminated to other events whereby she would participate in all my activities and likewise. Mahjong, travel and tea time to name a few. Thereby earning the 3 ‘P’s (Peggy, Pearl and Paul) from the SHCians.

This links are pictures of the good time with Pearl and SHCians.

Hope it will bring back some good memories.

  4. Thank you Paul, for sharing. You are very kind and thoughtful. I am sure Pearl was very well taken care of and enjoyed herself while she could.

  5. Yes i met pearl on my first monthly gathering. Being both new to the club we became friends through mahjong, paul’s outings etc. Although she was over 75 but she was quite active and enjoyed travelling. She often asked me to inform her if there is any travelling activities. We both went to tg. Pinang under EO Abel about 2 years ago and shared a room. Pearl told me a lot about her private life that i didnt know of and how Paul had been treating her like his parent/sister.
Thanks Paul. And may you rest in peace Pearl, i will miss you my friend…

  6. Pearl is very fortunate to have friends like Paul and Frisna. I am very touched after reading Paul’s stories of how it has developed into a caring, sincere and true friendship. May she rest in Peace……..

  7. Paul,
I was shocked to read the post this morning. I hardly have time for SHC website.

Pearl was a pleasant, kind and generous lady that I come to know through you.
She also shared her personal life with me when I was room mate with her in JB.
There was no airs about this humble lady and she taught me a few things in life too.
    I will miss her definitely!
May her soul rest in peace and let perpetual light shine upon her!

  8. Hi Paul,

You are a very caring person and always give priorities to your friends. Thanks for sharing the photos of Pearl Goh at the many events before Annie and me join shc. Met her twice and at her age I can felt her spirit was high and jovial too. Memories of her will always be with us.

    Our condolence to her families.
