Cycling From Brickland Road To West Coast Park VIA NParks PCN – Sep Saturdays 7am

Hi
Anyone interested to cycle from Choa Chu Kang Brickland Road all the way to West Coast Park?
NParks had just opened up the newly constructed PCN link bridge from International Business Park to Pandan Gardens.
This created a link across the highway joining Bukit Batok and Clementi PCN to West Coast PCN.

I only cycle on Sat mornings from 7:00 am when weather permits. I will be frequenting this route in Sept 2013.
A note on this. The total distance is 28 KM to and back. You need fairly good speed gears to climb the slope.

If you need someone to guide you to , I can help.
Dave

  1. Dave , I took the route yesterday with a friend biker and crossed a large circular cycling bridge over AYE, I think, but I am not sure I am going the way you suggested. Can I have more details of the route especially at the linkage points.
Thanks.. hope to join you one day.

  2. Afternoon Dave,
Yes, i am interested to join you in this cycling venture to West Coast. Sat is ok with me.
Let me know the date/time. i am putting up @ Jurong West (near Boon Lay MRT station) so most probably i will meet you @ pt 3 Bukit Gombak MRT station.
    Let’s rock N roll !!!!!!!!!!!!
    Mike.

  3. Hi Everyone

This is the weather forecast for this Sat:
    http://weather.nea.gov.sg/Forecast3Days.aspx

So need to start early to avoid getting caught in the late morning rain.
I stay at CCK, so I will start from 6:45 am.
Please kindly note – If u had read my profile, I’m about 62, ride a foldie (yellow Birdy) and am a slow rider. I do not ride on the roads. Hope to get understandings on all these. I hope to ride with others in a team on these understandings.
Will firm up everything on Fri. We shall exchange mobile number then.
Meanwhile do a check on your bike.
    Dave

  4. Hi Everybody

Its Fri morning and the weather forecast is bad for tomorrow. Even highway was shut off yesterday. Worst is the drain line flooded yesterday is the part of this route.
I do not want to arrange something and let everyone down later. And no point looking at the sky every moment.
I suggest to have this next Sat morning i.e. 14 Sept 2013.
Will update again. Meanwhile do some other rain proof sports this weekend!
    Exercise and stay healthy!

  5. Hi Dave. Noted.
Anyway, i will check the weather tomolo @7am and if weather is fine i will hit the trial for West Coast Park from my place Jurong West via Park connectors route :
Jurong Central Park – Jurong Lakeside – Chinese Garden – out to Jurong Town Hall Rd – Jurong East Central – Toh Guan Rd – pt 7 of your route and all the way to West Coast Park.
    Cheers!

  6. Hi Mike
I guess you are an avid cyclist where as I am just a weekend cyclist.
I am sorry I will be giving tomorrow a miss as I was really unsure of this weather condition. I instead had gone for a long walk at Labrador PCN earlier this evening. Brought my umbrella. At 8 pm you get to see the sailing off of the sea cruiser Superstar Virgo at Keppel Club. Very nice sight.
I hope to meet up with you next Sat morning along the way.
Wish you a safe riding tomorrow.
    Dave

  7. Wanna do an interest check. How many of u would be interest to cycle on Pangkor Island? If there is sufficient response to charter a 24-seater coach, we can leave on Fri nite to reach Lumut in the morning to board ferry to Pangkor Island. Cycling on the island may take between 2 to 3 hrs on leisure pace to explore and sightsee. When done, spend time to have fun at the beach. Board ferry back to mainland n stay the nite, free n easy. Leave Lumut next morning for SG to reach by night fall.
