We commence our walk from Punggol Mrt , walk through Waterway Point towards the made Canal waterway that links two rivers, Ponggol River and Serangoon River. From the Canal we proceed westwards to the Punggol River, strolling along its riverside until we reach Punggol Marina Boatel . Continuing, we trace the northern coastal stretch , walking along a park connector until Coney Island. Nearby there we branch off and walk along another canal heading towards Oasis LRT where we end our walk. Refreshment and/or dinner at a nearby coffee shop awaits you.

                                 SLOW DANCE

                         Have you ever watched kids

                            On a merry-go-round?

                          Or listened to the rain

                          Slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight?

Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

                           You better slow down.

                            Don’t dance so fast.

                               Time is short.

                           The music won’t last.

Do you run through each day

                                On the fly?

When you ask How are you?

                           Do you hear the reply?

                            When the day is done
                                     !

Do you lie in your bed

                        With the next hundred chores

                         Running through your head?

                           You’d better slow down

                            Don’t dance so fast.

                               Time is short.

                           The music won’t last.

                           Ever told your child,

                           We’ll do it tomorrow?

                             And in your haste,

                            Not see his sorrow?

                              Ever lost touch,

                         Let a good friendship die

                           The music won’t last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere

You miss half the fun of getting there.

When you worry and hurry through your day,

It is like an unopened gift….

                                Thrown away.

                            Life is not a race.

                             Do take it slower

                               Hear the music

                          Before the song is over.

Christmas reflections

~ FRIENDS ~

As we walk our path of life,
We meet people everyday.
Most are simply met by chance.
But, some are sent our way.

These become special friends
Whose bond we can’t explain;

The ones who understand us
And share our joy and pain.

Their love contains no boundaries.
So, even we are apart.
Their presence enhances us
With a warmth felt in the heart.

This love becomes a passageway,
When even the miles disappear.
And so, these friends, God sends our way,
Remain forever near. emoticon

From meeting point, it will take 15-20min walk to reach the Boardwalk skirting the water edge. You can fill up your water bottle and visit the rest rooms on the way to the Boardwalk. The walking route  is scenic, serene and  beautiful on a clear day and you  will have a chance to walk through the wooden "maze" (built over the reservoir) to reach the boardwalk.  We can have a photoshot here. We take the Chemperai Trail which is 20-25 min walk.  Midway, we pay homage to a tree because we have to bend our body to cross it and then we take the Jering (name of a malay fruit) Trail, another 10-15min.
We will reach the  Island Golf Course and then we return via the Jogging track provided the weather is fine. The jogging track is undulating and can be  muddy or  slippery at certain spots if it rains.
The total time walking time is slightly less than  2 hours.  This will be a different walk from last month’s  Kallang walk where the path is clean and surrounding is bright.
After the walk, we can have a drink/snack at the Reservoir café or have dinner at Kopitiam in  Upper Thomson, near Sin Ming Road.,  or at Toa Payoh MRT station.   Bus 157 goes to TPayoh central  MRT.     Bus 165, 166 to Upper Thomson.
Those adventurous and needing more exercise can walk to Kopitiam  (another 15 minutes) through WestLake
housing estate & Lakeview Condominium.  The choice is yours.

Leave your expensive "Guess & Versace" pants at home.
Wear track shoes (no sandals/slippers),  bring an umbrella (or poncho) and water bottle. The year end months are usually wet and we are in the catchment area.
Do you know what is  “nature helicopters, feathered friends at water edge, alien invaders, lord of the sky”.
Come and join the walk and find out for yourself – enjoy nature’s treasures.

Hope to See you !

Sunset Walk at Macritchie

Hello SHCs.

We will commence our first walking activity on Sat 18th Feb at 4pm. The route chosen is intentionally kept easy to accomodate non regular walkers. You can invite any friend along.

We  will meet at Paddle Lodge, a canoeing station, about 100 metres from Macritchie bus stop. From meeting point, we will take the boardwalk skirting the water edge, walking ocassionally among the trees for about 40 minutes and return via the adjoining jogging track. The total time is about 1 hour 20 mins. There is a washroom with toilet facility nearby. Drinks from a vending machine is also available. Alternatively, we proceed to the hill top food kiosk fronting the reservoir.

Put on a pair of comfortable walking shoe, some sun block cream and bring along a sunshade cap, a pair of sunglasses, a water bottle and a foldable small umbrella or puncho ( in case it rains).

Those intending to join in the walk, please email me at cwee99@singnet.com.sg or sms me ( hp 98288980) for further details & map.

Charles Wee – Profile

Hi all,

If you can paddle a bicycle you can join me in a ride from Lower Pierce Reservoir car park, travel along the old Thomson Road grand prix racing track up to Upper Pierce Reservoir, rest with toilet break, enjoy the scenic waters, ride back, cross Upper Thomson at traffic light then proceed Bishan Park 1 then Bishan Park 2 , then have a coffee break at nearby AMK, Teck Kee. Total distance about 16 kilometres, time about 3 hours. Good exercise & fellowship.

I have been doing this routine every Monday at 8am with a couple of friends. This project can immediately take off for those interested.  Bicycle on rack at back of car OR put in car boot with car backseat folded backwards and detachable front wheel bicycle taken out. Free car park whole day.

Alternative routes could include Sentosa, P.Ubin, Pasir Ris Park, Marina South to Kallang stadium, East Coast, Changi/Tanah Merah seaside, Sembawang Park, etc.
