Using Zoom to teach online
Covid-19 has created new and huge opportunities for seniors to teach online. From home to learners, all over the world. Not just getting friends, and colleagues together online.

If you wish to learn how Zoom works, and how you can teach online, lets gather together to experience Zoom. Especially when you have the skills and knowledge. To share this learning tool, rsvp by WhatsApp “Zoom class”. We will set the class dates this week. Closing date 22 Apr 2020.

As of today 43 members have refistered to attend this learning session.

This 4 day program is ideal for members who have used Zoom before.  If not, try to come and join Morning Breakfast or  “It’s Lunchtime”.  at the start of each session, we will have a video program, followed by practice and sharing by experience members.  Be comfortable, you are among friends.

  1. Members are encouraged to learn new ways to reach out to the world. Video conference especially Zoom has made unprecedented changes to the way learning and teaching reach students, learning adults, kids, grandpa and grandma. Teaching Mandarin, arts and crafts, keeping aquarium fishes, sharing travel trips together, etc …

    Come for these sessions. After a few days, you will kmow the basics of using Zoom to teach a new group of students. We have already conducted cooking classes LIVE and online. We have also started getting young grandchildren, kids 5 – 6 years old to minggle and share their world, The market is up to your skills and knowledge.

    Fellow members, plse take advantage to learn and share this techmology. After the sessions, we can sit down together, on zoom, and explore ideas and opportunities of working from home.

  2. We have 50 participants interested in Zoom Class. Some may drop out if the timings are not suitable.

    Registration closes tonight 22 Apr 2020 midnight. Members can also take online courses from Zoom at Zoom.com. One advantage with joining this SHC Zoom class is you will know the other members in the class. This enables you to practise online and LIVE with familiar faces.

    Thu 23 Apr 2020 – 2130 hrs – Intro to Zoom, Signing up a free Zoom account, Security eg waiting room, passwords, and How to control your online classroom.

    Fri 24 Apr 2020 – How to use a white board?, eg Teaching kids to play games, teaching English to Chinese students, and How to do a craft demo?

    Sat 25 Apr 2020 1500 – 1600 hr – How to set your audio and video settings, for best quality with limited internet bandwith? Experience the advantages and weakness of online teaching.

    Sun 26 Apr 2020 – We will break out into small groups of 5 people. Screen sharing and managing a smaller classroom.

    Above 4 days. Another one day will be allocated for exploring opportunities in teaching online. Date not confirmed.

    Come experience basic Zoom every M-F 7.30 – 8.30 am and 1.00 – 2.00 pm, this will help u nenefit from the class.

  4. Tonight, for the Zoom class, we shall learn the basics on setting audio and videos in Zoom Participants get to practise sharing music and videos with one another. The 1st time wont be good experience, but you will learn what works well with your home WIFI or mobilephone or IPAD. Important to see how voice and audio works in Zoom, and finetune the experience. Zoom video requires a lot of bandwidth. So, use WIFI.
