As for the club’s taboos in terms of SEX, my understanding of this taboo is NO PROCUREMENT of sex – asking for sex from members and SELLING OF sexual services to members.
In view of my understanding, I have not initiated a restricted subject in whatever capacity.

I had been so busy with my new job which I started in early Jan 2012 that I have only logged in twice to post under the Feb 18 Charity Lunch.(I may have to catch up with the past 2 months’ postings and comments when I have some time.)
I would like to put your ‘sex quiz’ into a survey link format so that members who are not comfortable to post their answers here, can click on to the link and post their options. You can view and print out the summary at a glance. Results can be in viewed in percentage or chart format. They can be downloaded for printing purposes.
I picked up some tips to ‘design’ surveys in the survey monkey website in my present job. Please let me know in this thread if you would like my assistance with the design.

A hot topic has suddenly jolted many SHC members from near slumber, perhaps even apathy, to attention. Now, everybody wants to offer an expert opinion on this much-talked-about subject.
As for established regulations they were not cast in stone and some may like to bend them a little here and a little there to accomodate specific occasions. Life is not meant to be dull all the time, isn’t it?
If a male club manager raises such topic for discussion, many would most probably dismiss it as a nonsensical antic from a HSL (hum sub loh – Cantonese) or CKP (chee ko pek -Hokkien) both meaning a lecher in English. Others might scream for punitive action to be taken against the culprit.
Where a lady club manager courageously raises it for club discussion, it is somehow seen a non-issue, some would go so far as to laud that as brilliant!

If my schedule permits at a later stage, I would like to hold a small session to share tips on how to create a ‘survey’ create ‘online registration’ etc which I have learnt from my new job.
The only downside is, SurveyMonkey restricts a design of up to 10 questions. For more flexibility on the design, colour scheme, etc the user has to pay for upgrading. The price plans can be found on the website.

Hi Geraldine, don’t get me wrong. I am not against reading or discussing topics on sex. I am sure many would be much enlightened if you had presented this as an information piece (together with the answers). What is the purpose of wild-guessing the statistics?
I often attend related seminars in my institution. While I don’t claim to be an expert, I have offered my advice and opinions to students. No need to be shy when we see it from a biological and medical point of view.
Forum sites however, particularly those that serve to generate laughter (kekekekek), ought to be more reserved on this topic. Yes, it is primarily to avoid potential “sale or procurement”. Another reason is – once you open the floodgate, there are all kinds of comments and remarks coming in. Talks about sex are most difficult to moderate. Let’s be honest – everyone is itchy – to different extents of course.
While a woman can say anything about a man, a man “overstepping” the boundary can be accused of “outrage of modesty”. Where is the boundary? Who is the moderator? Can anybody comfortably say that he/she is the best person to draw that fine line between serious and sleazy, humourous and horrendous or delicious and disgusting? I hate to end up reading pages here where a few women pour out their desperations unabashedly, while the men stay away for obvious reason.
In the final analysis as Andrew and Terry have correctly pointed out – the people in charge shall call the shot. Throw the damn rules into the river. If we can’t beat them, join them.

Sex discussion is never a shameful subject. It is only through copulation (sexual intercourse) between married couples that leads to procreation of the human race to maintain the stability of society for future generations.
Lesser beings like 4-legged animals, birds and fish also do their part in furtherance of their species to provide food on our dining table.
The only taboo which is sinful is exploitation of sex for financial gain: prostitution, striptease shows, girlie bars, dance halls and what have you.
So let’s not giggle or pretend to be shy when talking about sex. Without the sex acts of our forebears, we would not be
where we are today, thriving here on Planet Earth.

Geraldine spoke with me to clarify one of the Club’s taboos ie “Sex”.
To be honest, and unfortunately, I do not have much time to read and analyse every single Post and comment in the Club. It really depends on whether the Fairy Godmother is in a good or bad mood. If she is asleep, well, all of us can run wild. I am out of Singapore 80-90% of the month, so I can only apologise if the moderator does a lousy job moderating SilverHairsClub forum. As a guide, the part on sex refers to soliciting of sexual services. It also refers to comments and issues which insults the sexes in our club.
If any member has the time, fairness and mental consistency, I am prepared to let that member be the sex moderator. If not, Fairy godmother will continue this job, if she is awake.
If you find you have no access to the Club either temporarily or indefinitely, you are likely to have crossed the line.
I trust members respect one another. Stubborn as she is, the decision of Fairy Godmother is final. You will know you have crossed the line when you lose your membership. So sorry about this position I have taken. By the way, she is 79 years old.

Thank you all for your comments and analysis. In any discussions, nothing is absolute. Everything is but a matter of opinion. And it is this opinion thing that raises doubts, uncertainty, unhappiness and hence more opinions. We can only hope that the decision-makers concerned can exercise consideration, diligence and above all, fairplay.
SEX is a clean and clear topic. Nothing shameful nothing sinister. In fact, it is cleaner than politics and clearer than religion. However the shades, ranging from transparency to grey to totally black, come in when it is reduced to frivolous discussions, particularly between men and women.
Thank you Terence for the clarification. I am sorry if I put you in a rather tight spot. And Geraldine – I must reiterate my appreciation to you as the club manager cum moderator. Not an easy job. Honestly I can never do such a job (some will say, “cannot do talk so much for what?”). It is with the intention of making your job easier that I’ve had created a din.
Terence had said in #32, “If you find you have no access to the Club either temporarily or indefinitely, you are likely to have crossed the line.” My question is, “Where is the line?” If anybody is ousted because of sex-related talks, I can bet a 100 to 1 it is a male. Such is the unfairness when men and women talk about sex. So to be very fair, keep it a taboo. Hate to bring this up but remember that flamboyant guy who quit because of his indulgence in “insensitive” talks about sex? I played a part in keeping him at bay. Lets be fair. He should not be sacrificed in vain.

Sigh…Sad to see this thread has gone so off topic from a simple sex quiz to some unpleasant discussions that led to sidetracks of songs and cooking etc. Any undercurrents?
