Hilarious Hours of Fun and Song – 29 Sep (Sun) 1 – 5 pm

Now that the Mandarin class is under able hands I shall focus on another topic of interest. Book reading seems out of place for us oldies. Back to the drawing board and losing more hair in the process. Singalong session will be encouraged throughout. Everybody will have to sing in groups.
One of my policy from day one was to organize event that can reach to as many member as possible. How else can we get the new member to come forward to become active and to play a greater in adding vibrancy to the Club?
Four hours for singing.  An opportunity to meet new friend here.

Date: September 29 (Sunday)
Time: 1:00pm-5:00pm
Venue: Kolam Ayer CC, Geylang Bahru (11 minutes walk from Potong Pasir MRT)
Cost: $6.00 if we have 10 pax, $3.00 if we achieve 20 pax or pro-rated.
Hot water provided, bring your own beverage packages and some snacks for High Tea.

Depending on respond, we may have it on monthly. Please indicate whether you are coming for one or both session.

EO, Dan

  1. Hello Dan

Tks for organising. You’re an awesome EO.

Let me be the first to register for both sessions. I love reading and karaoke (albeit English songs only).

No worries about the cost… $3 or $6 is so cheap. Singapore birds always sing: Cheap, cheap, cheap…cheeeeep :-)

Will bring some finger food for the potluck party.

    C u on 29 Sep.

  2. Thanks Gabriella for your constant support.
Someone asked why I did not do it as a monthly gathering for the Club. Well, I am not sure, this place can only accommodate 40 pax.
I am introducing something new this time. Next, I may have a session on how to play chess or mahjong or how to catch spider. It seem like a mini clubhouse where member can come and learn or sing. I like the relax ambience here and for a minimal cost at that.
    Dan

  3. Hi Dan

Tks for all your wonderful ideas for active agers … hahaha.

Since I’ve completed my duty of raising a generation and doing NS for our nation, I’m available for chess, mahjong, catching spiders and what have you.

Wanna the rest of my life to be the best of my life!

Keep up the good work Dan!

    Cheers

  4. Dear Gabriella,
Seems you and I are the ‘lone wolf crying in the wilderness’. Magical dun thrill any folks at all, wat other tricks or treats should I come up with. Even the power wielders are still having their siesta.
All right, no need to share a joke or story. Just come and relax and enjoy and have fun. If you can’t sing alone, no worries we will have more singalong where we sing to our hearts content all the golden oldies collectively, how dat?
Otherwise this old man have to ‘sau tong!’.
    Dan

  5. Hi Dan

Thought I’ll just share some quotable quotes with you before you ‘sau tong’:

“Never, never, never give up!” (Winston Churchill)

“Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance.” (Samuel Johnson)

“A champion is someone who gets up, even when he can’t.” (Jack Dempsey)

“It’s not whether you get knocked down; it’s whether you get up.” (Vince Lombardi)

“Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goal. My strength lies solely in my tenacity.” (Louis Pasteur)

“When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on.” (Thomas Jefferson)

“I think and think for months and years. Ninety-nine times, the conclusion is false. The hundredth time I am right.” (Albert Einstein)

“Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.” (Dale Carnegie)

“Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go.”
    (William Feather)

    Haha…

    Good Luck!

  6. Thanks Gabriella,
I just wonder where are all the new member, this is for them to come together. No worries if by September 15 response is poor I ‘sau tong’ and become a communist by going underground!
    Dan

  7. When you counted up to 100 sheep, what else can you do? Just wondering if this forum is a place to share your joy and sorrows? I wanted this gathering to be held on a Saturday instead but the place was booked. Sun from 1.00-5.00pm was available, bo bian,
Being a virtual club and short of a physical premises,I would have thought this was the ideal setting. At a nominal cost we have this private room with karaoke facilities all for us own usage for up to 40 pax. Perhaps I should pick a Saturday to get better response and perhaps I should find a more central place. Han’s is no better as we are not free to do what we wanted.
Daniel suggested having a happy hours with beers and stouts and wine where the man and women can hang out and croons ourselves out but drinking not allowed, kesian. Back to the drawing board, what else? How about a monthly gathering, why not we have not have it for a while. Who is accountable for and doing the followup for the new member who signed up? I remembered a date was set for new members’ induction, is it forthcoming?
Mid Autumn celebration will be held at this same premises for some member in the Mandarin class who was relegated to ‘underground’ state which should not be the case.
I may hold this same event on a Saturday from next month and still hoping for better member’s participation. And Terence where did you hide that icon that I sorely needed?
    Dan

  8. Haiya Dan, what icon leh. Do you mean the emoticon? Your signature animated emoticon, Mr Knock-on-wall?

As for the response, I wonder whether you have chosen a suitable day as Sundays are precious family days for most. Why not try a Saturday?
