\nit was named Fort Canning Hill or \u201cForbidden Hill\u201d in Malay. Since the
\n14th century many Singapore rulers and colonial masters have lived here,
\nincluding Sir Stamford Raffles. It was an important military base during
\nWorld War II.<\/p>\n
\nrelics of bygone eras are around. There\u2019s a Spice Garden, previously
\nSingapore\u2019s first experimental and botanic garden. The tranquil ambience
\ntogether with diverse flora and fauna makes the walk interesting. You will
\nappreciate the beautiful sculptures completed by various artists.
