It often takes two or three rounds before the \u2018junk\u2019 finally leaves the house. I think it is because uncluttering for the hoarder is an <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">emotional<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"> thing.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">In the first round of uncluttering an area in the cluttered, disorganized storeroom, a lot of white elephants did not leave the house.<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000\">The hoarder threw one bag of stuff out and looked at the storeroom. Oh no. After more than an hour of uncluttering, the storeroom looked no difference \u2013 still too cluttered. The hoarder felt a little <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">desperate <\/span>\u2026how to rid the rest of the house of clutter at this rate?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>After a day or two, the hoarder, trying to be practical,<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"> ruthlessly <\/span>threw out two more bags of the \u2018junk\u2019 he had cleared in the first round of uncluttering. And then worked like a beaver at uncluttering\u00a0 another part of the junk-full storeroom, struggling hard to overcome the reluctance to throw out his \u2018beloved junk\u2019!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Uncluttering is a slow and tedious chore!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366\"><em><strong>Hmmm\u2026a \u00a0related story:<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>More than twenty years ago, a big fire razed a row of double- storey shop houses near the former Newton Circle, to the ground. My friend was at work when her room went up in smoke. All the victims of the fire had only the shirt on their back \u2013 nothing else. The next day when the rubble had cooled down, the victims went back to look for their jewellery which did not melt.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>The govt. gave them priority in applying for new personal documents and allocated them new flats. My friend and her relatives got flats near Upper Aljunied Road.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>WE always sympathized with our friend for losing all her belongings in the fire and she was also feeling miserable, but \u2013 a few years later, she said to me it was good that all her clutter went up in smoke! She appreciated the chance to live in her new place without any old clutter! Is this not a little <span style=\"color: #3366ff\">irony<\/span> in life? \u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366\"><strong>I <em>sometimes think of a fire when I\u2019m having a difficult time uncluttering. <span style=\"color: #000000\">Lol!<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/silverhairsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/clutter4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-18423\" src=\"https:\/\/silverhairsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/clutter4-200x68.jpg\" alt=\"clutter4\" width=\"200\" height=\"68\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Uncluttering is a difficult task for hoarders.
