{"id":23182,"date":"2016-05-01T09:22:03","date_gmt":"2016-05-01T01:22:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/silverhairsclub.com\/?p=23182"},"modified":"2016-05-04T10:08:36","modified_gmt":"2016-05-04T02:08:36","slug":"retiree-club-east","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/silverhairsclub.com\/?p=23182","title":{"rendered":"Retiree Club (East)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-23179\" src=\"https:\/\/silverhairsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/retirement2-130x100.jpg\" alt=\"retirement2\" width=\"211\" height=\"166\" \/>\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-23181\" src=\"https:\/\/silverhairsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/retired1-100x100.jpg\" alt=\"retired1\" width=\"166\" height=\"166\" \/>\u00a0\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-23180\" src=\"https:\/\/silverhairsclub.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/retired2-67x100.gif\" alt=\"retired2\" width=\"123\" height=\"179\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Calling all retirees in the East<\/p>\n<p>I have formed a retiree club in the Kembangan area wherein active retirees can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>gather for coffee chats in the nearby coffee shops\/joints in the east<\/li>\n<li>makan in the hawker centres\/markets in Bedok, Paya Lebar and Tampines in the east<\/li>\n<li>morning walks at 5.30 am or late evening walks at 6.30 pm when it&#8217;s not too hot<\/li>\n<li>introduction to ukulele fun<\/li>\n<li>yak yak on anything (ranging from current affairs, in-laws, grown-up kids to\u00a0anything under the sun)<\/li>\n<li>help and seeking advice from one another<\/li>\n<li>cycling in the parks (I need a trike or tandem rider though)<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;.. and so on&#8230;. the list is by no means exhaustive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The 24-hour sarabat stall at Jalan Lapang (Kembangan) may be a good venue to be considered.\u00a0 It&#8217;s just a stone&#8217;s throw from the Kembangan mrt station.\u00a0 Those staying in this area may be familiar with this eating place.\u00a0 It&#8217;s rustic, nostalgic and gives the ambience of Singapore in the early 60s or a typical Malaysian sarabat stall of today.<\/p>\n<p>These are only ideas on the drawing board and can be finetuned as we gather momentum.\u00a0 A chatline has been set up for those who have indicated interest so as\u00a0 to keep everyone in the loop on activities or good sharings.\u00a0 As we&#8217;re retirees, we&#8217;ll keep to thrifty thrills\/fun&#8230;. no lavish spending.<\/p>\n<p>So far, some 20 of my friends (mostly shc) have already indicated their interest in joining this retiree club as and when they&#8217;re free.\u00a0 It&#8217;s good to form friendships now before it&#8217;s too late.\u00a0 One&#8217;s spouse may not be with you forever and depression may set in (if you&#8217;re too close or dependent on your beloved) and especially when you&#8217;re already facing the empty nest syndrome.\u00a0 We must rely on ourselves for our own well-being and happiness.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a saying:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No one is born happy but every one is born with the Ability to create HAPPINESS&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Just leave a message here or apps me (if you have my hp number) if you are interested in joining the\u00a0Retiree Club\u00a0(East).
