SHC Jan Monthly Gathering at Hans Cafe, Wed, 23 Jan 2013

Dear Members emoticon

The next monthly gathering is scheduled as follows:

Date: Wednesday, 23 January 2013

Time:  4.30 – 8.30 pm

Venue: Hans Cafe – Great Eastern  Building, Upper Pickering Street

Charges: Free.  You are free to buy your own food and beverages at the counter

Please bring along your name tag.  If you don’t have one, we will give you a stick-on label.

Registration required.  Strictly for SHC members only.

Strictly no politics, sex, race, religion, direct selling or MLM.

The aim of the monthly gathering is to enable social networking among SHC members, for new and old Silverhairs to meet one another.   Time to just meet up, chit chat, plan your activities, have fun etc.

The following topics are food for thought and can be used for informal discussion among members during the meeting:

– What is happening to our Singapore men today? With all the latest happenings? (hee hee)

– Is taking up a medical insurance necessary especially for Silverhairs? What happens if a person retires and is no longer covered under any medical insurance during his Silver years?

– Will hobbies help to alleviate the ‘Empty Nest Syndrome’ and promote Active Aging (keeping us physically and mentally alert and happy) ?  Examples of such activities are dancing, karaoke singing, uke or guitar playing, travelling, quilt making, balloon sculpting, scrapbook creations, mahjong, brisk walking, coffee-meets etc.

– Is it advisable for Silverhairs to invest in stocks and shares or is there a better and safer way to grow our ‘nest egg’?

  1. Hi EO Gabriella! Good of you to kick off Year 2013 with this event! Plenty of advanced notice time given so no excuse for fellow members to say ‘bo eng’…

    Please register me.

    Thank you
    Ros

  2. Hi Gabriella (I called you Gabby at the dnd and you thought I forgot your name. Of course I did not and it is a short form of your sweet name),

It is indeed nice of you to host the first monthly gathering for members in 2013 and Ros is the first to show her support (mo taak teng, OC).

Great job and all the best!

  3. Hi Rosalind #1

    Good morning.

Welcome, welcome. I’m so happy that you are the first to respond. Thank you v much for your support.

We’ll have fun during the gathering….

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriella

  4. Hi Geraldine #2

TQ for your kind thots and encouraging words. So sweet of you as always. Since our Chief has broached the subject, I thot I should be positive and give it a try. As the saying goes

“Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.” Ha3

Moreover, I’ve quite a fair bit of time to play with currently, since I’ve temporarily stopped all work cos of a broken wrist. But, Thank God, it’s been 8 weeks now and I’ve regained abt 85% recovery. It’s a rather serious Colles Fracture – broken wrist plus radius. I’ve a surgery scar of about 9.5 cm on my wrist/hand. I’m now a Bionic woman with a metal inserted! Nonetheless, may take a couple more weeks for a full recovery.

    Warmest regards,
    G

  5. Oh dear Gabriella, speedy recovery, bionic woman.

As for the scar, there are cream/ointment that you can buy from a pharmacy or ask your doctor.

    Take care,

  6. Hi Gabriella,
Surprised to hear about your wrist fracture. Glad it is all over now. ..but still would like to hear all about it.
Jan monthly gathering is special because as Geraldine pointed out , it is the first Monthly Gathering of 2013 and secondly it is your first as EO for this event.
I have to be there. thanks.

  7. Hi Charles Wee #8

Welcome to the FIRST monthly meeting of 2013! Oh yes, I’m indeed a Virgin EO for a SHC event. Ha2

Thought we met recently during our monthly walk but of course, you were busy taking photos for us. Ya lor, I tripped and fell during my holiday in New York in Oct and had this bad fracture. Luckily, it happened on the last day of my holiday but nonetheless, I had to endure 20+ hours of excruciating pain on the plane, before the emergency surgery in Singapore upon touch-down. The worst is over and I should fully recover by January 2013. The surgery cost a ‘big hole in my pocket’ (more than 20K) but fortunately, my Incomeshield + Rider paid all of it. My orthopaedic surgeon is at Gleneagles.

Thank you for your kind words and support.

C you and have fun at the meeting ~

    Warmest regards,
    G

  8. Hi Gabriella

I am new and kindly register me. I am looking forward to meet all of you at SHC Jan Monthly Gathering 2013 Wed, 23 Jan.

    Thanks & Regards
    Yuko

  9. Hi Yuko #10

Welcome to the Silverhairs Club and our first monthly meeting of 2013. Great that you’ve registered for this event as it’s fertile ground for you to meet fellow SHCians and network with them.

    Thank you for your support.

    We’ll have fun,
    G

  10. Hi Gabriella

Yes, I was concerned about your arm… nasty fall and such a long scar… I hope it will improve. I must support you for organising this meet; so please put my name down.

You did say that your IncomeShield and rider paid for your all operation cost… may I ask what plan you have that paid all your costs at a private hospital? I think at our age we need to plan to cover medical costs but hopefully at a reasonable premium.

    Keep smiling!

  11. Hi Kenneth #12

Welcome ~ I’m so glad for your support. Xie2

Also tks for your concern re: my wrist/lower arm. Initially, the whole hand/arm (right hand) could not move or do anything. I was really traumatised then, as I’m a right-hander. Now, my left hand can do loads:-)

Re the insurance, I have bought the Enhanced Incomeshield (Preferred) + Rider wherein I’m entitled to First-class hospitalisation in any private hospital and can engage a surgeon of my choice. With the Rider, it means I don’t have to bear the 10% which most patients have to foot in the event of hospitalisation. This insurance was bought more than 10 years ago. Premium for the main policy is $800 (paid by medisave) and the Rider is paid in cash (around $400). However, the latest premium I’ve paid wef 1 Dec this year is $1200 (main policy – $800 from medisave and $400 cash) and $500 cash (Rider) as I’m growing older by the year. In short, $800 paid from medisave (max amt allowed by CPF) and $900+ cash per year. This amount/year will increase as one grows older ~ as an older person, like ‘an old car’, will require more maintenance? Ha2

    Nonetheless, Don’t Worry, Be Happy:-)

    C u and let’s enjoy and have fun…….

    Cheerssssss…
    G

  12. Hi Gabriella,

Sorry to hear of your accident but glad to know that everything turned up fine for you.

I just want to add that for those of us without medical insurance, my suggestion is to get one asap.

    For the following reasons:
    1) Premiums can only go up. Just check around, those who bought hospitalization insurance, 1 year ago, 2 years ago 3 years ago, etc.
    2) Medical costs are rising even faster, sorry to say that but there are many stories of how GPs routinely direct any ailment to a specialist. Also how day surgeries require you to stay in the hospital for ‘observation’. That usually means you are hospitalised, and there is insurance cover, and that means the hospital can charge you more, with more attendant specialist services.
I just heard a case where someone went to a dentist for a checkup, was recommended to have a tooth removed, but the attendant dentist, fully qualified, directed him to a specialist, to remove his tooth. Upon which the specialist recommended that he remove 2 teeth, and replace them with 2 insertions. One insertion costs about $3-5k/tooth, before other attendant charges.
    3) As you get older, like all of us, it is more difficult to get medical insurance.

All the stories I hear of small operations range from $10k to $30k. Some of us may have to work a few months to get this money.

Sorry to bear all these bad news but ask your family doctor or doctor friends and they will all ask you to get medical insurance. We are not like USA yet where they don’t admit you unless you have a valid medical insurance, but we progressing there.

  13. Hi Charles Chua #14

Many thanks for your concern about my hand injury and your take on the importance of having a medical insurance.

    I agree with your comments.

Btw, will you be coming for the monthly meet?

    Warmest regards,
    G

  14. Dear Gebby

Great that you are leading this monthly gathering. New Year, New Experience…

Please register me for the gathering.

    Thanks very much.

    Cheers
    Carly

  15. Dear Carly #19

Welcome to the meeting. So glad that you can attend. Thank you for your support to my maiden task. Hee2

With u as the ‘live wire’, we’ll surely have FUN.

    Cheersssssssssssss,
    G

  16. Hi Virgin EO

I would love to attend this gathering and perhaps assist you in some way but very much regret that on 23 Jan I’ll be in Bangkok after our romantic trip to North East Thailand with Terence and company. I wish you all the best and I am sure the other members will give you all their support.

As for your injured wrist, always remember not to apply any pressure on it – definitely no rock-n-roll or disco rock, maybe just a slow rhythm. Let it be completely healed and it may take a couple of months before you can rock and roll.

    Take care

    Mega

  17. Hi Mega #23

Many thanks for your kind words and sweet advice peppered with a mischievous sense of humour. Ha2

Ooooo… enjoy your holiday with Fairy Godmother and company. Have fun and a wonderful time! After all, the best things in life are:

    – The people you love
    – The places you’ve seen and
    – The memories you’ve made along the way ~

    Cheersssssssss
    Virgin EO

  18. Hi Gab,
You have my full support in your debut as an EO for this event.
Please register me. Sorry I can’t offer to help in any way as I might be required to attend a workshop & then not be able to come to the meet.
Since walk-ins are not welcome, I thought I’d best register myself first:)
Hope to see you and by then perhaps strum along with you.
Wish you a speedy recovery, a Blessed Christmas & a Happy New Year.
    God Bless,
    Amy

  19. Hi Amy #25

Many thanks for your sweet note and good wishes.

I really appreciate your support. Registered for you.

A Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with God’s Blessings to you too.

Btw, I’m going to the Uke Party tmr :-) Will meet you there too?

    God Bless,

  20. Hi Jeff #27

Welcome. Your support is truly appreciated :-)

Oh yea, the monthly meeting is indeed fertile ground for meeting old friends and also new members.

    C u then and we’ll have fun.

    Cheers,
    G

  21. Hi Gabriella,

Have been mulling over this cos it’s a working day and I’m not sure whether I can make it in time after office hours. But so many nice people there and hope I can see them.

Hey quilting group, like to see how my piece is progressing? It’s very s-l-o-w but at least moving and I hope by then all the blocks are fully joined to see something pretty. Hope not counting chickens before they are hatched! Quilting needs lots of patience, systematic planning and meticulous work – but the finished product is worth it! You see why cannot do it alone? Maybe we meet at Hans to take a look? After work I’ll be there.

    Ok Gebby, sign me on!

  22. Hi Susan #29

Oooolala………Glad that you’ve stopped mulling and made a decision to come :-) Thank you for your support.

Happy that you can also showcase your quilt to the members. Surely, this may tickle their enthusiasm muscle and join you in this lovely hobby yea?

    Cheersssss

  23. Hi Gabriella,

Long time no see! Don’t worry, you’ll soon recover. I’d a fall in 2003 at a badminton court & went for op at my left wrist too. It took me 2 mths to recover & I still have the metal thingy at my wrist.

I’m perfectly fine now. I hope to meet up with you one day near Bishan CC one evening if you know what I meant?
    Keep in touch thru emails?

  24. Dear Cat #31

Tks for your kind and encouraging words… Certainly, we’ll keep in touch via emails :-) ha2

What abt coming for the Jan meeting? You can register nearer the time if your schedule permits?

  41. LOL Gebby, hope it’s completed by then! I’m done joining the main pieces (96 squares) together but it’s only half completed. Batting (‘sponge’) to be done and stitching of a design on the whole blanket for the puffed effect.

No time leh, but now try to get the act together and I was hoping to use this opportunity for the QIG to meet for the first time to look at a common interest but if not possible, we will try a separate meeting. A very simple quilt only hor, pai-sei pai sei….

  47. All Members of SHC (both old and new :-) )

I think many (if not all) have read my ‘hilarious’ profile on myself and SHC which was sent out by Fairy Godmother in the January update.

Many members (especially the ‘inactive’ ones) have written in to say that they can ‘connect’ with my very personal write-up which was written from the heart. They can relate to my ‘openness’ and would like to join in the SHC meeting on 23 Jan or other activities in the near future.

I sincerely hope that many more will sign up ASAP for this monthly meeting to chit-chat, enjoy and have fun and fellowship with other members.

I’m sure most of us have spent the greater part of our life working/raising a generation and have no time to ‘smell the flowers’ so to speak. Now, is the time to enjoy and make time for ourselves.

Sign up soon and come lah, ok?

    Truly yours,
    Gabriella

    2)Hello Vivian Hu #75,

One thing is true, if a person studying English does not have enough confidence to speak or write it, he cannot improve his grasp of the language. One way to learn speaking English well is to get into a crowd of English speaking Singaporeans like our SHC members.

Congratulations, you have found good company to practise your spoken English inside SHC. To tell you the truth, in the beginning I also found it difficult to learn English as all my family members(brothers & sisters) were all educated in Chinese.

In our Singapore environment, most local Chinese can speak both English and Mandarin through regular practice.

    Blessings,

    tt

JUST ANOTHER GENTLE REMINDER: Please bring along your NAME TAG if you have one. Otherwise, we’ll give you a stick-on label.

    CHEERS…..

  89. All members present at today’s mtg ~ 60+ members turned up :-)

TQ v much for all your support and presence at today’s meeting. I noted that there was good mingling, fellowship and camaraderie among all. Hope all of u enjoyed yourselves.

Special thanks to Charles Wee, Peter Sng, Pearl Wong, Myra and Daisy for your all yr help this evening.

    Fondest regards,
    Gabriella

  90. Dear SHC founder Terence Seah,

With humility and pent-up indignation due to the often unwarranted provations by your sub-leader Charles Wee, please let me speak out my unhappy experience with him inside SHC.

SUBMISSION OF OFFICIAL COMPLAINT AGAINST SHC SUB-LEADER & BIG BULLY CHARLES WEE.

I am clearly flabberghasted by your sub-leader appointee Charles Wee by his childish and irresponsible behaviour. At the last SHC walk led by Christina Chan, Charles walked beside me and insulted me without prior provocation from me.

Last night at Hans Cafe/South Bridge Road, he again irritated me by saying laughingly that since “you are old and most likely forgetful, it could be the other Charles Chua inside SHC that made fun of you.” You might have mistaken me for your real target Charles Chua.”

By dragging in the innocent Charles Chua, Charles Wee was mischieviously and effectively insulting the good name of Mr. Charles Chua. Appointed sub-leaders of SHC are tasked to help unite all members as one tight
happy family unit in brotherly and sisterly fashion enjoying one another’s company well into the future.

Next time, in any SHC event, I might bring along small pocket tape recorder with me so that the true character of Charles Wee can be unmasked.

Terence, if you phone up Charles Wee for details regarding his mischief, certainly he would deny it to cover up his tracks. If he hadn’t committed “oral violence” (spoken insults) against me, why should I have wasted my precious time complaining on my long written piece and your precious time reading it?

To write a long petition, I have to crack my brains for the right choice of words which can be as painful and as tough as it gets.

Charles Wee rightfully owes me an official apology for his uncalled for periodic insults during SHC-led activities.

Thank you Terence Seah for your anticipated impartial investigation into the matter.

English Proverb: Where there is smoke, there is fire.

    Respectfully yours,

    Terry

  91. Well done Gabriella and thanks for hosting this January gathering, and the wonderful small gift that you have painstakingly prepared for all members present. I am sure all members do appreciate it.

I really enjoyed myself mingling and having fellowship with some members.

    Cheerio
    Myra

  92. #143

“provations” should be replaced by “provacations”.

An erring favourite sub-leader of any established organisation should be taken to task by its impartial leader to maintain fairness, harmony and respectability of the whole organisation going forward.

    terry

  93. Terence Seah,

When Charles Wee is with you, he is on the best of behaviour like an Angel full of smiles.

When he is around me, the other darker side of him is exposed: a vile, insulting Demon.

    Respectfully,

    terry

  94. Thank you Gabby for your kind-hearted thoughfulness upon giving me and all SHC attendees each a packet of a dozen hong bao envelopes.

Sincere wishes for a bountiful CNY for one and all.

    Terry

  95. Hi Gabriella

Thank you for organizing a wonderful evening at Han’s café last night. I had not participated in any of the SHC activities for a long time and surely last night was a great way to rekindle with ‘old’ friends and meet new ones.

I was especially delighted to receive a lucky draw prize, In spite of your injured wrist, you took effort to do something extra special for all of us

Do take care and Gong Xi Fa Cai for the coming Lunar New Year.

    Cheers
    Agnes Seow

  96. Charles Wee is not living up to the expectations of a responsible, wholesome sub-leader inside SHC. He has not been licensed by Terence Seah to hit at me orally as and when he feels like it. He should step down as a sub-leader of SHC
for irresponsible behaviour detrimental to the overall good name of SHC.

Last evening I walked into Hans Cafe at around 7.30pm hoping to catch up with Bira and Ivan Lim for a cordial chit-chat. I failed to meet them. Perhaps they came in early and also left early before my arrival. Never mind, there is always the next meeting for a chit chat.

    Blessings,

  97. Myra #144, Terry #147 and Agnes #148

TQ v mnuch for your support and sweet compliments. It’s my pleasure ~ there won’t be any mtg if the participants were not there too? Ha2

I’m glad that the lucky dip (only a v small gift) had added some ‘colour’ to the event.

    Fondest regards to all,
    Gabriella

  98. Charles Wee, you have become my favourite subject. As long as you continue to harass me for fun during SHC outings/meetings, I will continue to harass you by writing about you in this SHC forum. When you stop the nonsense completely, I will do likewise.

Do you remember this favourite English phrase: “Tit for tat, butter for fat”? You slap me on my left face, I return your favour by slapping you on your right cheek.

Charles, are you already in your second childhood doing all these stupid things eroding your self-respect?

  99. Hi Terry,

I guess you are disappointed with something. I have been thinking about how to handle complaints on this forum. Personally, I think it is fair to allow members to state their complaints against another. If it is done objectively and without getting personal, it is fine.

If you can do that, fine. If you cannot do that, either I have to take a few more panadols or we have to enforce strictly guidlines. The worse we can do is to put every comment under moderation which can take hours or days. I also would need a volunteer. This is definitely the wrong post to engage in arguments or personal attacks.

Charles Wee has been a long time member of SilverHairsClub. What communicate between you and Charles, I do not know. But I know Charles Wee and Charles Chua as strong supporters in the culture of SilverHairsClub. I have no reasons to doubt their integrity and keeness of heart to bring members together.

I am no saint, and sometimes I do make fun but not with the intention to embarass someone. I can only say that sometimes such exchange do happen. And as SilverHairs, let’s have the heart to be more open hearted. From the Club’s angle, state your complaint and close it. I hope you can do this.

    Terence Seah

  100. Hi Terence #152

Fully agree especially yr para 3.

When I asked Charles Wee if he could help to take some pictures for this monthly meeting, his prompt response was:

“Can. No problem. My pleasure. Have a nice day.”

When I asked what time he’ll be there to help, his reply was:

“Tomorrow I will be there when you open for business.
…Will take my dinner there before work begins….”

He’s an unassuming person, no doubt! Like his ‘naughty but cute’ sense of humour too! :-)

    Best regards,
    Gabriella

  101. Alamat Terry! Just my luck…. to have receive all those comments. … not true lah. I have been around for so long with SHC and many have known me. I am a non provocative person by nature, helpful, friendly and sincere.
You try to relax a bit ok,it helps.
    You are still my friend.

  102. Alamak Charles, If someone tells me you’re that bad hor, I must pinch myself, see if am dreaming…. hahaaaha…….

By the way, remember to “analyse” the helicopter style disco rock (aka “comb your hair”) for tomorrow’s class ok!

  103. Hi?Terence #139?

  105. Hello to All and especially to Charles Wee, Terry Tang and Terence,

I met Mr Wee last night, around 6.30pm or so when I arrived.

To my surprise Mr Wee asked if it was ME that Mr TT was referring to, instead of him, Mr Wee.

So I pointed out to him, clearly, in the presence of Malcolm, that it was impossible to be me as :

a)I did not attend the walk.
b)I did not attend the walk because I was cycling with the cycling group, with Ivan Malcolm and others.
c)I have not met Mr TT for a long time, say many months.
    d) And this is the most important reason, I categorically stated that it was not me who made those comments to Mr TT during the walk.

Mr Wee, undeterred, pressed on by saying that I met up with the walking group for dinner, and that I had made those comments during my dinner with the walking group, and specifically with Mr TT.

I really could not understand why Mr Wee was so intent on pressing me to be responsible. So I replied, that I have a witness, Malcolm, who was cycling with me and had dinner with me and was present at this very conversation with the very persistent Mr Wee.

So I stated, again, very clearly, without ambiguity, the following:

e)I had dinner with the cycling group. The cycling group could not have had dinner with the walking group because we were late for dinner. We arrived at the rendezvous point after the appointed 6.30pm.
f)When the cyclists reached the dinner point, only 2 walkies were present, Ah Nee and Lily. They were the only ones that joined us for dinner.
g)It was not possible for the walking group to have dinner with the cyclists because we went to another place for dinner, with the exception of AN and LH.
    h) In fact, till this day I have not met, nor spoken with, or had dinner with, Mr TT for many, many months.

To confirm the point, I asked Mr Wee the following:
    1) Did CWee, say those things purported by Mr TT to Mr TT at all? He said NO.
    2) Therefore I told Mr Wee that it was important that he clarify this with Mr TT asap and explain that he did not make those comments.
    3) Was it possible that another person, had said those remarks to Mr TT and that he mistook that person for Mr Wee? He said Yes, because he thought it was ME, again.
    4) So I told him, again, clearly, in the presence of Malcolm, that it was impossible to be me for the above reasons. My alibi is perfect. I have many witnesses. So I told CWee, again, clearly, that it cannot be me and to leave me out of it, and to clarify with Mr TT.

After dinner with Ivan and Malcolm, we went to attend the Worker’s Party rally in P East.

I do not think such a clarification is so difficult to make.
So imagine, to my surprise, when I read that Mr TT posted that CWee was trying to pin the responsibility on me AGAIN, after my clear, detailed, categorical, witnessed statement that I am not involved in this war of words between him and Mr TT.

So please, Mr Wee, tell me, now, here, in this post, despite my detailed conversation to you, why do you keep on insisting that it was ME who made those comments to Mr T Tang? What game are you trying to play?

Now Terence, and perhaps others too, even think that it might be ME that made those comments, however remote they may be, that he has to rely on my past reputation, to explain to all here, and Mr TTang that I am a responsible person, who would not do things to put strife between members.

Mr Wee, I have always treated you as a friend, and have answered all your queries honestly. There is no reason for me to change now. But just tell me, how do you think, it was me, after my detailed response to you, your concurrence, only to have you repeat the same ridiculous assertions that it was me who made those comments. I look forward to your reply to clear this unnecessary dispute you are trying to engineer.

    I am forewarned.

  106. Dear Gabriella,

A quick note to thank you for being a gracious host, and your kind gesture in handing out door gifts to all members present last evening.

With helpful members manning the registration desk and Charles Wee busy capturing good candid shots of us, we were so relaxed & pampered that we were glued to our seats sharing different topics of conversation. ~~ It was another fulfilling gathering and we were most reluctant to leave till 9 past!

Will meet you again sometime at the dance floor…

    Cheerio!

  107. Sue Dear #161

Thank you v much for your kind words and compliments! I’m really touched :-)

Glad to know that all of you enjoyed yourselves and it was a fruitful gathering ~ meeting new friends and catching-up with old ones.

Kudos to my team members too.

    Yes, we’ll meet again soon.

    Fondest regards ~~~

  108. charles chua, sorry for inadvertently getting you into the picture. Now that Terry has clarified, it is now absolutely clear in my mind, the incident has nothing to do with you. Honestly, i can stand on my own feet and do no need to drag anyone into the picture.
Last evening was a busy time for me as i was the camera man, so when i had the opportunity to talk to Terry, i ask him whether it was charlesW or charlesC he was referring to in his postings. The purpose was to get further comfirmation. Honestly up to now , i still am not clear what Terry’s complaint was about and what exactly i said that upset him. I hardly talk to him during the bishan walk as i was also the camera man.
This quote by terry #143 purported to be from me …“you (meaning Terry) are old and most likely forgetful, it could be the other Charles Chua inside SHC that made fun of you.” is his own concoction. He must be hard of hearing. It was never said. i only had a few seconds with Terry after taking the table group photo.

  109. Hi Terry,

I noted your email complaint which you sent me last night, and copying numerous people. You are generating unnecessary dissent by doing so. The issue your raised in the email is similar to what you have written on this Post.

You are free to state your complaint on this forum. You have expressed unhappiness because you have been told you are long winded and beat around the bush. You have been told you are old and forgetful. I am sure your message has been read, and we should close it. This forum is not for personal attacks against any one individual.

Please also note I do not take lightly any threats you make against the Club. As a Club, we should be supportive of one another, and not be antagonistic.

  110. Hi Terence,

I can imagine you with pocketful of panadol, back pocket, shirt pocket, front pockets… I really do not envy your position as the “Indian Chief”, like it was mentioned at Han’s.

Just a side note: Notice all the ladies are chatty and outpouring, but they enjoyed the moment and forget about that after they left the event. However, its a little different for the gentlemen.. wah lau, they remembered everything and carried that with them home, and then they hantum and write and made such an issue of that!

Now, I am asking, which group do you prefer to handle.

  111. Hi AnnG, #166,

Long time, no hear. But I see your appearance more frequently now.

As to your answer, on which group do I prefer to handle, I would say, either “Neither” or “Both”. Women are tactful, the end result is the same. Men are less tactful, the result is also the same. I believe we are all human beings; we fight for face, our ego and for the opposite sex. We fight for our own survival; even till the we leave the earth.

As for Club members, I wont stop any arguments or disagreements on this forum; but there must be a limit.

Panadols are quite cheap in Thailand. I just bought a box of 50 tablets. Chinese new year is here; let’s look forward. Guys, and Gals, whether you agree or disagree with my position, everybody has a choice; and I can only ask we move on too.

  112. Wd like to quote the following words and hope it’ll help to soothe the ruffled feathers:

“Kind words smooth all the paths of life
    And smiles make burdens light,
    And uncomplaining friends can make
    A daytime out of night.”

    Quote for the day:

    ‘LIFE IS TOO SHORT ~
to wake up in the morning with regrets. So, love the people who treat you right, forgive the ones who don’t and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. It it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it’d be easy.”

    Another one for the day:

“Don’t get upset with people and situations,
They are powerless without your reaction!”

    Hahaha ~ :-) :-) :-)

  113. Gebby

Thanks for organising the monthly gathering. Great job!

I had a good time. My apologies for going off early as I have to babysit my darling grandson.

    Thanks for the pressie :)

    Cheers
    Carly

  114. #164 Charles Wee, plse be gentlemanly enough to admit what you had said was insulting to me at that point in time. Trying to whitewash the whole matter by saying you hardly remember what you said to me is totally unjustified. Back then, I was fully incensed with anger with your thoughtless remarks.

I had gone through many SHC walks in the past, and had made no complaints against anybody until the last SHC walk incident involving you. But, in the spirit of SHC I will let bygones be bygones. We can become friends again.

  115. Kakakakaa, AnnG#166, panadols all over!!

Yes, poor Terence, and I suppose it’s one of the reasons he takes Viagra, hoping it’ll take away his headaches and gives him HAPPINESS. Kekekekeee.

Have not chatted with you since the ladies Skype – a hundred years ago. Hope you are keeping well.

  116. Carly Dear #169

TQ for your sweet compliment! Really appreciate :-)

It’s great to be promoted to the rank of GM right? Now, this Darling will keep you v busy, but it’s worth it. This Darling will only bring SMILES to you. Tell me more next time we meet….

    Cheerio,
    Gabriella

  117. That’s it, Terry! ….. “I (i.e. you) will let bygones be bygones”.

Now Mischief, do be good. It’s the second time you’ve been naughty. Oooooo….. I do dread a third…..

  118. Hi Terry #170,

That’s the spirit of SilverHairsClub. You have stated your unhappiness over an issue which bothered you. This is clearly objective in your approach. And that you have quickly brought yourself together, and move on.

To all the guys and gals in the Club, let’s give a round of applause to Terry.

  119. Hello Terry

That’s the way to go….. I like your last statement. “We can become friends again.”.

Another quote to add on :
To err is human; to forgive, DIVINE.” Alexander Pope

Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today.

May the coming Snake Year bring you and ALL members in SHC
Happiness and Peace in fullest measure.

    #167 Hi Terence Big Chief

I think the box of panadol you bought from Thailand can now be safely put one side.

    Cheers
    Myra

  120. Woh! so many peacemakers.
    Terry,
I am glad you have recovered your cool. Please remember i am still a friend. In all honesty I could not recall the incident you mentioned. Maybe i am having early dementia (aargh!!)condering the fact i am almost your age.
May I suggest we have coffee together so that I can hear you out loud and clear and perhaps with some details of the incident from you, my memory could be jolted back.
Junction should be an easily accessible place to meet. My preference is in the afternoon when i am usually free. SMS me @ 98288980 a date and time convenient for you to meet me.

  121. Terrence said “To all the guys and gals in the Club, let’s give a round of applause to Terry”.

I don’t understand why we should give Terry a round of applause. Sorry Terry, I am not clever, I really don’t understand.

But I would like to give Charles Wee a standing ovation myself, I really mean it from my heart.

  123. THANK YOU Gabriella. I could have used adjectives from a to z to describe your commitment, but owing to constraint of space, I shall use only two —- you were simply Affable as a host and Zealous in what you were doing.

As with all the ladies who have had organised events for SHC, you did a great job. The “fairer gender” is indeed more meticulous and motherly (cannot find a better word) when it comes to care-giving. Thank goodness nature created them as such. Looking at the happenings around us, is it a co-incidence that any country with a woman as head-of-state is relatively peaceful and stable? Maybe Sg as a whole will be a more cohesive society if we have a woman PM.

  124. Hi King Seng & Charles Wee

Charles – many tks for the lovely well-taken photos!A wide spectrum of all the happy smiling faces.

King Seng – TQ for uploading them on this forum page for our viewing.

    Good memories ~
