  1. Sorry, almost forget the following who also contributed to the success of the gathering.

Dolly Lim – Preparation of the Name Tags and also the memories of the past events with Power Points, not forgetting her assistant to Yew Kwong for the Demo On SHC website.

Yew Kwong your longer than expected help to the Q&A is greatly appreciated.

I must also say special thanks to Oi Cheng, Kenneth Tan, LH. Jie and Mary Chan for the two Registration & Payment Slots.

The sound system is too sensitive as compare to our initial testing without the crowd. I am sorry and appreciate your understanding. I hope that its a convenient locate for our meeting place.

Any requirement of scorebot facilities and courses pls email me. I hope I will be of help.

I notice that a fair number of SHCians are interested in Investment. I would suggest we get this interest Group going on our appropriate Forum page and see how the SHCic will evolved.

Active participation and suggest is the key to OUR success of SHCic. We do have some experienced traders at SHC.

    Please come forward.

    Together we will achieve MORE.

  3. Hi,

During our 3Dec gathering, I briefly talked about SHC Tuition Club with Mary Chan, Roland Tong and Kam Ming. It looks like there is some interested in this project. Can I seek some comments and further interest to start this project.

Dan Huang what about the Chess Club is there any other SHCians who is also a Chess player. What about starting a Chess Club also.

  4. Briefly, I suppport some form of tuition activities by retired SilverHairs. Although I may not know who is offering tuition, not just on subjects like English, Chinese and Science, the idea sounds viable.

Dennis, let the ideas roll, maybe start a new Post. I also am keen to know what are some of the concepts toyed about.

Why I like the idea? SilverHairs have plenty of experience and skills. And these knowledge can be pooled and offered to the public. I think a good opportunity as a business and income.

  5. Hi Dennishar,

Certainly would like to start a Chess Club. Will fix a date with you to discuss further.

So far, Terence, KT Wong and Daniel Chan are keen. I am looking into the possibility of chess players not only in Singapore but overseas, like tourists passing through.

  6. Dan,

We are beginning to see you have a wide array of activities eg swimming, dancing, badminton and chess.

I love chess, and you played with my son in Bangkok. He was awed with your chess skills. I like to understand a bit more. Do tourists travel all the way to a foreign country to play chess?

  7. Terence, the concept of a chess cafe appeal not only to tourist passing through but also the many expats who are working here.

Have you heard of the Manhattan Chess Club? Basically we just provide a place for chess enthusiats to gather and indulged in chess in a place where snacks and even beer are served.

I have a good friend who is a chess coach, he is very keen to tie up the idea of providing chess coaching.

Cyber chess cafe is another form of engaging chess players who are able to log online to play chess from different part of the world.

Of course we have to look seriously at the income generating aspect to sustain the business.

  8. Terence, I agree fully and thanks for the support of a Tuition Club. Let me start a thread and see the response to form a committe.

Dan, Can you start a thred on Chess. I will be in for it. During my Secondary school day I do represent my School in Inter-school Chess competition and also played lighting Chess with Chess Master. It was all past experiences and hobby.
