My Travel experience

Hello, everyone. I just registered as a member of SHC and have been reading some of the interesting postings by various members, particularly on the topic of travel.

I myself have travelled extensively to many parts of Europe (e.g France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Greece, Austria) as well as Australia, NZ, Canada and USA, mostly on self drive vacations, although I have also travelled by rail and gone on organized tours as well. For  some of these countries  my self drive holiday has enabled me to made multiple trips to different regions each time. I really admire Terence and his team for having done their Europe trip on rail as being on one’s feet from morning till evening for 14 days must surely be an achievement for a Silverhair.

My message here is that I would be happy to share my travel experiences or give tips for those who may be comtemplating taking a trip in the future. If going to Europe the best times are April/May and Sept/Oct, the so called shoulder season as crowds are less and prices are lower. If you are targetting a trip in spring 2008 now is not too early to start planning an itinerary.

Would love to hear from anyone whose passion is travel and who knows we may have an opportunity to arrange a trip together in the future.

  1. Hello Peggy,
A BIG WELCOME from all of us. You will find many friends here who share your interests.
Where is that YTS ? Low profile as usual! ha ha. Just joking.

  2. Hi Peggy,
Welcome on board SHC! It’s great to hear of your vast travelling experiences which would be a great help to some of us who’ve yet to go to some of these places that you’ve mentioned. Do stay in touch and keep abreast for the events we have at SHC and I’m sure you’ll eventually find something that will be of interest to you and probably help us to head some of the events too. Hope to meet up with you some day. Warm regards, Lisa

  4. Hi Peggy

Nice to meet you. You are the second Peggy I know in SHC.

I’m not a frequent traveller, especially the self-planned one. But I’ve a plan to travel to Europe (as many place as possible) only by myself in the future (2 to 3 years later) and I will start to collect the required information next year (2008). With your experience, I think you can give me great help. Thanks in advance.

  5. Hi Peggy,

My passion is also travelling, be it joining a conducted tour or with friends. With your vast travelling experience may I suggest you oragise or lead a tour group to somewhere??? after the festive season. I’m sure there’ll be a good response from SHCians.

    Seasons Greetings.

  6. Hi Peggy
If you are arranging a Japan tour during the cherry blossom time, let me know. I’ve made arrangements for 2008 though I will be in transit in Narita. Perhaps for 2009.
    Joan

  7. Hi Peggy,

Thanks for the advice on travel to Europe. My wife and I plan to visit Europe (free & easy) some time in Sep/Oct 09. We appreciate your advice for first timers like us on where are the best countries/places to visit, accomodation transport arrangement…, etc. We also look forward to joining any SHC members who are keen to visit Europe.
