Want to know more what Internet can do for you? If you have a working laptop, come and join us in another IT Course I am conducting, titled “Infocomm Skills Package for the 50plus” It is a 12-sessions workshop, on every Thursday, 6.30PM to 8.30PM starting 3rd April @ Bukit Merah Library. If interested, go to any library e-kiosk to register. Course fee is $24 for the 12 sessions.
Infocomm Skills means Information and Communication Skills. This is the “how to use the tools” or the hardware part. The software part is the “Application”. How do we acquire knowledge or communicate (network) with our friends and love ones. An opportunity not to be missed.
Hi Guys,
May I list my observation.
Hew Lee who is so passionate about photography (video) include would
purchased a 21 inches monitor, lugged it to the first photography class in Pandan Valley so as to better demonstrate the finer art. I would assume at least that he is entitle to some feed back on the lesson conducted. Be it general ie too fast, advance or basic. Be it technical. Some did not have pictures, video or music/song downloaded. Some time were used for this thus you miss out on other items to complete the Movie Making program.
Such as:- difference between 16:9 and 4:3, PAL/Secam and NTSC format
25 fps and 30 fps. Burning into DVD disc – which one DVD+R or DVD-R.
What is DVD RW and what is max capacity at 4.7gb. Video making tips such as introduction, body and ending were not included. So I guess you might have to ‘Google’ for it. Learn at your pace.

Hi Terence – here we are talking about motivation and challenge. Money always works with these two words. But personally I do not believe this is the only way. With trust, understanding and respect, it can also be achieved. The bottom line is – do I really, really want to learn and master it. Among SHC members, so far three had demonstrated they can do it out of about 30 who had previously attended my class on Movie Making.
hewlee
Kenneth – the Oscars should go to those who dare to pass up their homework. Normally, they come and they go. Not sure whether they understand or not understand what I am sharing. I think it is in our culture, afraid to make mistakes.
Maybe, next time, I charge $5 per lesson per participant. Those who submit their homework will get the refund. Any balance money will use to pay for a makan among those submitted their homework. But pity I am not a “live to eat” person.
hewlee
Hi Hew Lee,
I like the idea to have a charge and if you intend the session to be free, it is ok to refund the amount if the participants complete the homework and send back the requured feedback. This feedback is important for the organiser to finetune future programs.
Terence Seah
Wah…so many SHCs want to be movie makers…
After watching the Oscars, I guess there are many wannabes… let’s look forward to many SHC activities bring video’ed, edited, makeover’d, enhanced and whatever!
Hew Lee: You deserve the SHC Oscar for your organized activities and courses!

Hello everyone so far registered (up to 17th), you are all welcome. Please do not forget to bring your workable laptop installed with WMM program if you really, really want to do it the “hands-on” way. “NASO” – (No action, SEE only) is not enough.
