  1. Hi Ms Chua

I am Liew Pak Kon (a new member) and looking forward to meet fellow SHCians in the monthly gathering.
Please register me for the gathering on 10th June.
    Thank you

    PK Liew

  2. Terence, if this event is as stated for SHC members. Why there is $3 imposed for non members – Are you saying that non members are allowed to walk in by paying this $3???

    Best regards, Dolly

    1. Hi Dolly,

Yes, we intend to have the monthly dinner gathering for SilverHairsClub members only. From previous experience, our EOs sometimes face members who bring friends with the intention of their being members.

This creates a difficult situation for those in charge of registration and the organising EOs. For members who insist on bringing their non-member friends, I have decided to implement a $3 entrance fee.

Unfortunately, we don’t have Club bouncers.

      1. For this coming monthly dinner gathering on Tues 10 June, we can share our understanding of the new “MediShield Life” which has just been released today.

Let’s discuss the new benefits and also what is not covered. We can also discuss the premiums and how we are to pay for the for the premiums.

        Come join the gathering.

        1. Something which I had always expected with Singapore’s medical system is a lowering of costs for inpatient and outpatient treatment. And, I was expecting that with the newly announced MediShield Life, costs will be lowered.

However, I noticed that the new MediShield Life pays less out-of-pocket for hospital and outpatient bills, mainly because of higher claim limits. This does not meet my expectations of reducing medical treatment costs.

I hope to read more of medical cost reductions in the coming report.

  4. By the way, forgive me for hijacking this Post cos I’m a lil hard-pressed to start a Post, but will do later.

Anyone keen to join us for a day trip to Sutera Mall on Tue 24 Jun from 9.30 am to 7.30 pm? Meet at Jurong East interchange (near Mrt station) at 9.30 am. Very convenient to make our way there at our doorstep from JE interchange via direct Causeway Link bus to Sutera Mall. Can talk more today at Han’s lah.

Calling for a lady member to join another lady member to Jiuzhaigou/Hong Kong from 19 – 29 Aug (last 2 nights in HK free ‘n’ easy). Jiuzhaigou all expenses paid (5 star hotel + meals + airfare + insurance) = $1,200 (subject to no change from tour agent cos we paid the sum some time ago). Hong Kong on our own – we’ve booked hotel at a vibrant city in Dorsett Mongkok for S$110 per room). There are 8 of us confirmed, hooray!

    1. Hi Susan,

The monthly gatherings are for members to discuss and share just about anything. So, I would call this hyjacking since you are coming to the gathering to discuss with other interested members.

Unfortunately, we did not reserved a corner as the registration were all done last minute. Let’s hope Hans doesn’t kick us out.

See all of you this evening.

  5. Hi Susan,
Is this a new service provided from JE interchange to Sutera Mall. If so, then, is OK. If not, I am quite sure that there is no longer direct bus service from JEI to SM anymore. You will need to transfer bus from Bukit Indah (I think is Bus 666) to SM – That was how we get there the last time few mths back. CW3 in JEI starts operating hours after 11am onwards… Hope this info will be useful to you. Also hope that if there is any changes, please share with us also.

    Many thanks….. Dolly

  6. Hi Dolly,

Thanks v much for your alert. Actually I saw a poster at Causeway Link at JE Interchange – big sign at their booth which says: Jurong East to Johor. (stops at) Gelang Patah, Bukit Indah, Perling, Tun Aminah, Sutera Mall, Senai Airport, Puteri Harbour, Johor Premium Outlets, Legoland. I did approach the counter staff and confirmed with them that the bus does go to Sutera Mall. They start service at 7.00 + in the morning. I think I better go to JE interchange again to re-confirm the information given – alamak that uncle who was manning the counter at that time was not friendly so I better look for somebody else, maybe the bus driver.

Then lagi just now, browsed through internet and saw this Straits Times article in July last year: http://www.straitstimes.com/the-big-story/case-you-missed-it/story/jb-calling-20130707#sthash.zTF9KNPo.dpuf. Haha, if got time read this interesting article so you know why we are going there again! We went there a couple of months ago and everybody was satisfied with the itinerary for their interest group – massage, manipedicure, karaoke, makan, makan, and a bit of shopping!

If you scroll down this article until “Sutera Mall” caption, it says: Getting There By bus: CW4S from Jurong East Interchange. Stop outside the mall. The journey, which goes through Tuas Second Link, takes about two hours. It costs $4. The return trip is RM6.

We’ll see how – explore other routes. Any suggestion from anyone, please – will appreciate that!

  7. Yez yez, double confirmed – CW4S goes there. It’s S$4.00 per person. I spoke to a very helpful officer in charge just now but he has suggested why not we charter a bus since we can get a good size of 20 passengers. We’ve actually got a group of about 20, some confirmed but most TBC (to be confirmed) subject to leave approval, etc, etc. But Ann and I are happy to extend this officially to other SHC members – time to do our SHC service!

But we intend to cap it to 30 – not too big la. First come first served.

    Talk further tonight, Cheers!

  8. Hi Susan
