  1. Hi Terence.
Let me be the first to respond. I’ll be there and I’ll gladly teach my Golf card game. At the same time, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they won’t need me to teach, hehe. So put me down as coming.

  2. HI Terence,

Please include me. I will play a game of chess with my
    long lost friend Dan.
Am still getting the feel of all the activities
    as a relatively new member.

    Lee Patrick

  3. Hi Terence,
I will be there too, to join the Perth group. Will be bringing my set of Rummy O in case anyone is interested in playing a game or two.

  4. Hi Terence,

Please include me. Since it’s on Sunday I can commit.

The reason for my not registering at previous monthly gatherings is because due to work commitment I don’t know whether or not I can be there. On one occasion I registered and feel bad when I couldn’t make it. Therefore when I can make it on the day itself I’ll just turn up.

    Cheers.

  5. Terence,

    Pls include me.

Grace (refer to 10 above) I would like to continue with more practice from where we left last time.

    Regards,
    June Chin

  6. Hi everybody,

For our monthly gathering at Hans Cafe at Great Eastern Building, Hans Cafe will cordon the usual back space for SilverHairsClub. There is plenty of space, so no worries about finding a seat. If you are looking for your mahjong kakis, golf kakis, business chat group, men’s night kakis, come meet your friends here. If you have always been busy on a weekday, because of work, come to this Sunday gathering.

Dont forget to register here, and dont forget to bring your name tag. If not, you have to write your name on a sticky label, and paste the label on your dress/shirt.

Officially, this might be the last monthly gathering that I shall organise. We have our D&D in April, and Ms Dolly Lim takes over as Club manager from 1 May. Since day one, SHC has adopted the concept that all monthly gatherings should be located conveniently, in a large premise, that entrance be free; and that participants get their F&B from the venue owners. Usually, monthly gatherings have no agenda; and members are free to meet other members, find your own interest groups and form their own groups. New members can raise their hands so that help will be given when you arrive.

And, as with all activities, a little tolerance for disorganisation should be allowed for. It’s fun and also good for the soul. I encourage all SHCians to organise at least one activity and be the EO in their lifetime as a member.

No politics, sex, race, religion, direct selling and MLM. Dont forget to register here, and dont forget to bring your name tag. If not, you have to write your name on a sticky label, and paste the label on your dress/shirt.

  7. Hi Terence,

You forgot about me. Want to have a game of chess, I will bring additional sets?

“Big Two” or “Chor Tai Tee” card game will also be taught if anybody is keen to learn.

  8. Hi Terence,

Since it’s a Sunday, I will be able to make time to be present. I will drop by for a couple of hours before heading back to the east again to fetch my son. See you.

    Cheers,
    Grace Kok

  9. Hi Terrence.

    Regards,

    Anne Chua

  12. Alicia Soh.
Oh yes, we will ‘golf’ at the meeting. I will be there at 3 pm and will leave around 6.00pm for dinner with my family, so make sure you are there early ok?
    Thanks for your interest.

  13. Ronald #31,

Thanks for the tip. I shall also go to the IT Show and look for a small notebook with built-in camera. Then go for meeting. cheers.

    Terence Seah

  14. Terence #32,

It is alright if you are looking for a cheap small convenient notebook for use for a year or two, just for surfing the net and other simply applications. Eventually this piece of hardware becomes a white elephant when Microsoft policies kick in for everybody to migrate to Windows Vista (Same fate for those machines built for Windows 98). Hence, if you are looking for one for a longer term, go for machines that are designed for Windows Vista. Make sure the OS installed is Windows Vista – Home Premium version as the minimum entry level. Happy shopping.

Properly may run into you at Suntec City.

    Cheers.

  15. Hi Yew Kwong,

I plan to go to the IT show tomorrow to get a GPS. Do u have any recommendations or advice? pls.

    Hope to hear from you.

    Veronique

  16. Yew Kwong,

My LapTop (given by my son 6 yrs ago), recently not behaving and finally “kong” already. Just nice, this weekend IT show, I am going to buy one, is there anything within a $1,000….times are bad leh, want to cut cost lah.

    Ah Nee

  17. Hi Ah Nee

There are plenty of <$1000 stuff. Countless in fact. Go n c 4 yourself. Btw, if u wld like u can donate your "kong" lappy if u don't intend 2 keep it any longer which in turn will make another person happy.

  18. Hi Yew Kwong

I am looking for a 8GB iPod Nano. Do you think I can get this cheaper at the IT fair? I would love to have a iPod Touch but guess a 8GB iPod Nano wud suffice just for listening, right?

Hi Veronique, I wonder who invented the GPS, they can be smart but quite annoying at the same time.. he.he… especially when they keep telling you “100m turn right, turn right” and if you dont listen to them, they keep repeating it until they announce “recalculating…”, so if you are lost, I think like what Yew Kwong suggested, bring Boon Liang along…ha.ha…

  19. Hi,

I have a mini-notebook HP2133 running on window Vista Home Basic. Processor VIA C7-M 1200 MHz, 1.2 GHz, Ram 1.00 GB, 32-bit operation system, hard disk 102 GB going for $350, any taker?

Will bring it on this Sunday at the monthly gathering. Need to clear this as I already have a desktop and a laptop.

Yew Kwong, is this consider advertising and not allowed?

    Dan

  20. Yew Kwong,

Hahahaaa…so Veronique got a free BL GPS! I also want leh.
YK, can help me to shortlist which particular brand is good? If not, I see so many LapTop and worst still, the “crowd”, I feel giddy leh…don’t know what to do! Maybe I should leave this to my son to handle….heheheeee, am going to ask him to buy one for me, solve my problem! :)

    Ah Nee

  21. Ah Nee

Mayb u share wif Veronique on a 1,3,5 n 2,4,6 basis lvg 7 for himself.

In regards 2 the brands of lappy, if u are not fussy u can get “My Lappy”.

  22. Ah Nee #38, if you go to the IT show, you must get in and out quickly otherwise you will have a headache, too many ppl. Just get a simple lappy top lah. Afterall, you only use it to access SHC website, haha!

Veronique #37, I think you better not take YK’s advise to use BL as your GPS. Firstly, he cannot be kept in the car, cos he will suffocate! You take him home and he is too big to fit into your drawer, too round to go under your bed, too long to fit into your wardrobe. Some more, he is high maintenance and dangerous to bring home! (I think he is too busy to access this website, so don’t tell him what I say OK). Guess you better put up with ‘recalculating’, ‘red light camera’ etc.

As for me, I don’t need any GPS. Suzhang is my trusted GPS, good and reliable. At the end of the day, she can even take the MRT home! Hahaha!

  23. Hi SusanC

I wld suggest u go 4 the iTouch instead. All models n prices can be checked out at http://www.apple.com. Prices are fixed irrespective of retail outlets. Purchase at IT show will gv extra chance of lucky draw & premium gift but don’t expect price 2 be cheaper.

  24. #40 – Aiyo! Yew Kwong, I’ve been using this good brandless GPS occasionally since SHC first found him. But to bring him home is a NoNo because is too costly lah.

#41 – Thanks Susan, though I’m aware of the shortcomings of GPS, I still need to own one because I have to drive all over the island to locate my weekly hash run sites – very stressful. Boon Liang will switch off his mobile phone if I were to harass him every week.

#43 – Ah Nee, shall we start bidding for the BL GPS and see who owns it. Ai Mai? Hahaha…………………………

#47 – Lina, poor Boon Liang must be scratching his ear now, we are cracking jokes at his expense. U r rite man! Either too bulky to install him on my dashboard or store him in any compartments of my wardrobe. Better ‘chao’ and stop making fun of him now, otherwise Ah Kor will throw cannons at us. Hehehe…………..

    Have a cheerful weekend!
    Veronique

  25. Tomorrow, we are going a go at having our SHC monthy gathering on a Sunday. This is to cater to SilverHairs who are unable to come and meet other SilverHairs on a weekday. If you are able to make it, come meet the gang on a Sunday afternoon. You can also come and share your board games knowledge with other members.

I shall be leaving for the airport at 6.30pm for Dhaka and Shanghai later in the week, so look forward to seeing you then.

    Terence Seah

  26. #48 – Thanks Yew Kwong.

    #49 – Veronique – dont worry, BL is a nice guy & always helpful. He’s a gentleman, won’t scold you…
Ah Nee, the price for this BL GPS has gone up. :)p

  27. Sorry for late registration. Wife, Jane & I will be there on Sun. 15/03. Anyone interested in BALUT. PREPARED TO TEACH – will bring a couple of sets. FUN DICE GAME.

  28. Hi all,

Sorry to come and then do a “disappearing” act as I was in a hurry to visit the I.T. Fair at Suntec City(today, last day )to get some good buys.

The HUGE crowd shoulder to shoulder was “inching” the City Link mall in both directions and at times it was so congested with little fresh air that I almost give up and Vamus.

  29. Hi Friends

Photos for March Meeting uploaded. Please do a category search under SHC monthly gatherings then scroll to bottom of post for the photo link.

    Happy viewing!

  30. Oi Cheng
I’d like to make a suggestion. Perhaps you could put up the name/ names of the photographers who took the trouble to take the photos?
    Cheers

  31. Oi Cheng
What I meant was, we should give credit to the people who bother to take photos and send them in. I think they deserve some recognition for their effort, don’t you think?

  32. Hi King Seng, thanks so much for all the photos taken during our March gathering. Oi Cheng and Mary….let us give King Seng a BIG APPLAUSE for all the effort he has put in….ta ta

    Regards,

    Anne Chua

  33. Anne Chua
Yes indeed. King Seng has been a regular photographer at all the meetings which he had attended. He has taken very good photos and recognition should be given to him.
    Great job King Seng!

  34. Hi Ann and Mary.
Thank you for all the compliments. There are many others who have quietly taken photographs of different event and they should be given due recognition as well.
There will be a lot of pressure on me on the next event..
