  1. Yew Kwong,

Last year, about 7 of us participated in the National Runway Cycling & Skating 2008 at the Paya Lebar Airport runway. Kovan CC supported this event and I enrolled thru the CC. Its really fun to cycle at the runway….let me check it out at the CC if they are doing it again this year. I am very keen to participate. Hi! cycling buddies, come on…lets do it again. :)

Btw Yew Kwong what is Shimano Endurance Challenge of 45km ride?

    Ah Nee

  2. Hi Ah Nee

Gd if all of u do it again this year. Douglas did the challenge last yr. If I put it, something like riding a distance of 45km in the shortest time.

  3. Yew Kwong,

Ya, I remembered Douglas took the longest distance. We rode half of the distance he took. Hehehee….but we all reached the finishing point at the same time…wow! he damn super fast leh. So you will be signing the 45Km ride…I guess Boon Liang & Douglas will do the same. How about the rest huh? And how come your posting got so much space below?

    Ah Nee

  4. Hi Ah Nee

I believe all u guys shdn’t hv problem signing up 4 the 45km challenge. Just some training sessions. Don’t even hv 2 chiong but spin the legs slightly faster than usual.

Tks. I hd removed the extra blank lines.

  5. Hi Yew Kwong,
Am interested, think I will go for the shorter distant. Is the route level or slopy?
What is the distant that we did from ECP to Changi Point & back?

    Lawrence Lee

  6. Hi All

    The online registration is open.

    Hi Lawrence

The route (runway) shd be flat. I suggest u go 4 the 45km 4 a change since your stamina is gd. We can pace each other.

The distant from CV to Ex-Big Splash is ard 20km.

  7. Hi Passionate riders

Let us nominate YK as the ‘Largest Group Contest’ Leader since only one name is required to enter for this contest,
but we still have to sign up individually.

I will sign up for the 45km Shimano Endurance Challenge, we may have to cycle about 3 loops around the runway and using the side road.

    regards

  8. Hi Passionate riders

Pls go ahead as per Douglas’ suggestion.

Btw, let us list who are going so that we can look out 4 u. Another gathering in the lineup.

  9. Hi Yew Kwong,
Most probably will register for the leisure cycling group (15km).
To nominate you for the ‘Largest Group Contest’ we need your full name and HP number.

  10. Hi all Passionate Riders

When you registered online, please include our leader Mr Loh Yew Kwong and his mobile number: under “largest Group Contest”

This is to show that we are under his group. Registration is free, sign up and give your support.

To those who had registered, you may call Rachell at 63779882 if you want to make changes

    Hi Lawrence #09

Are you using BMX for the 15km. if not, you must sign up for the 45km Shimano Endurance Challenge otherwise we will not ride with you to Desaru.

    Regards

  11. Hi Guys

45km Shimano Endurance Challenge may sound tough but really, it’s not. Wif more than 2 mths 2 go, u can train up n complete the ride in comfort.

If we are riding as a group, u will not be left out.

  12. Hi Yew Kwong & Douglas,

If Kovan CC is supporting this event, then I will enrol thru Kovan CC and not online registration. In this case, can I still support Yew Kwong in the “largest Group Contest”? Most probably I will also go for the leisure cycling group (15km). May I know who is Lawrence Lee? Have I met you before?

Wei wei Yew Kwong, since when Susan Chang, Lina & Nor know how to skate? Apa macam…..only I skate at the skating ring, thats all! Nor & myself will join the 15 km ride and Rene, wow wow! going for the 45km Shimano Endurance Challenge.

    Ah Nee

  13. Hi Ah Nee,
Not sure if we have met. Join in the monthly cycling on 21st Feb. Got to know Douglas, Boon Liang, Patsy & another Laurence and many others which I can’t remember their names.
Am staying in Sengkang. Guess is not too far from your place if you are staying near Kovan.

  14. Hi Ah Nee

I think YK wants to re-confirm whether you all are into skating instead of cycling.

Lawrence attended our monthly cycling on 21 Feb, he is an avid angler and cyclist, you will get to know him at the kelong on 1st May, I actually mistaken him for another Lawrence under post #10

You may sign up with Kovan CC and pay for your rental bike but you could still sign online to support us as registration is free. We need the numbers

  15. Douglas, I know Yew Kwong is joking. He is a humourous guy and funny…..ya if we skate, I think everybody have to “siam” us….

I am not going to Kelong on 1st May, maybe I will get to know Lawrence at the coming cycling event at EC. So Lawrence, you are also a Teochew nan huh? :)

    Ah Nee

  16. Hi Ah Nee,
Yes, I am a Teochew. Hope to meet soon.

    Yew Kwong,
Have sign-up on line with another 2 friends, Jackie and Steven under your team.

  18. Hi Ah Nee #12

You are right. I can’t skate let alone going on this National Runway….YK must be kidding.

  21. Hello Yew Kwong & all the Hougang “nan”

For the past few days, I have been checking with the staff at Kovan CC with regards to the CC’s participation in this event (NRWCS, National RunWay Cycling n Skating on Sun, 21 Jun 09), but to no avail. Their staffs seem to know nothing about it. Luckily Michael Tan (CC’s chairman) called me last Fri and I brought this matter to his attention. This morning, I met him at my aerobic exercise at Kovan Hub and he has made the announcement, Kovan CC is supporting this event.

    Yippeee…..details as follow:

*Its free for Hougang resident who sign up. *Transport will be provided from Kovan Hub to event venue and back to Kovan Hub. *Free T-shirt etc…..more info will announce later nearer to date. I was told that priority will be given to Hougang resident, however if there are vacancy left, they can extend it to non Hougang resident. I will be signing up at Kovan CC. And for those who wish to do so, I can help you all to sign up as I stay very close to the CC. So cycling buddies, want to join me a day of fun cycling at the runway…..? :)

Oh yes……we will also support Yew Kwong as a group leader by signing online.

    Ah Nee

  22. Hi Ah Nee,

Yew Kwong & Douglas have help a number of us to realise our dream of riding long distance…. on road and across the causeway, we’ll definitely support them in events that won’t clash with other personal committments.

In fact, Rene and our cycling kakis have already signed up online and nominated YK as our group leader, we did not indicate on the forum bcos his training regime is hard to meet and we can’t promise a satifying performance… we know he is fine with it though :)

About the transport from Kovan, can they accept non- registrant (with cc) since we signed direct online? can they fetch our bicycle aswell?

Thanks for being so considerate always

    Regards,

  23. Hi Joyce,

Last year, all the participants from Kovan CC boarded the Bus from Kovan Hub and only collected the bicycles upon arrival at the event venue. I am not sure if the Bus can fetch the bicycle as well. Btw the rental of the bicycles are free. Let me check it out if special arrangement can be made. I hope I can help you. :)

    Ah Nee
