Dear Members,
I will be the EO to organize the “Bollywood Nite”. A suitable venue to host this event has been found. It is a dance studios called Mambo Dance Zone which is situated at the 4th floor of Golden Mile Shopping Center. It’s a good venue for 100 person with ample car park at the basement.
Spoken to the Manager Mr Frankie Tan and the details of rental only are as follows:
Weekdays: 2.30 to 6.30pm – $ 1000 & 7.30 to 12am – $1200
Weekends: 2.30 to 6.30pm – $ 1200 & 7.30 to 12am – $1400
Alternatively, we can book the studio for a minimum of 50 pax @ $20 per head. Of which $ 5 per head will go towards a buffet and the balance will go towards the rental of the studio. We can bring your own liquor/wine, but need to pay for corkage individually at $30/20.
Besides the dancing, the place can also be used to conduct a dance training for the night. The event can be held sometime in July or August 09. Date can be fixed once we can have the minimum of 50 members for the event.
Can I have member’s feedback and support for the event. Also please let me know if there is any other suitable place for the event. Thank you

I am the owner of Hog’s Breath in Vivo City. We started an event on Sunday that involves a band call The Edvis Mafia.
Lead singer is Eddie Foo, one of the best Elvis singer in town. It caters to the Silverhair crowd and we have had our very first successful debut last Sunday.
We would like to offer our venue for your Bollywood night too. If you would like to hold other events there too we could discuss. Our restaurant is about 4,000 sq ft with a small stage and we can clear part of the floor for dancing.

I visited Mambo for two occasions and I noticed that one channel of their speaker is sucks already. Hope they can get it replaced during your event.
Cheers,
Hi,
Dan Huang, Lydia Chin, Terence & Geraldine Ting,
Thanks for your feedbacks. Sorry for the late response as I was busy with work. I solely agree with you that the location is a little inconvenient for ladies. This was my 1st location I viewed. I thought this place was more appropriate for the occassion as there is a dance floor, audio system with sofas, tables and chairs to relax and mingle around.
As our aim is to have a Bollywood Nite, I thought a dance studio would be more appropraite. As recommended by Dan Huang, I will pay a visit to Oxford Hotel Lounge and find out more details on it. In the meantime, I would appreciate if members could recommend other locations for the event. Meanwhile I will also look for other locations and will keep you all updated.
Cheers! and Happy Labour Day.
Gengha.
There is another access to the restrooms from inside the studio. Yes, the toilets facilities is really rundown. Are we talking about the main studio, if it is up to 70-100 pax is not an issue!
Having a Bollywood nite is one thing, but how many of us can dance to Bollywood music. Perhaps we can add the Belly Dance performance.
Depending on responses, I would think that Osford Hotel lounge are is a better bet. It charges $17/- for a proper buffet dinner, but will take in a limited pax.

Hi Terence,
I fully agree with Susan. Mambo is more of a dance studio concept, where die-hard dance enthusiasts goes there for dance practices. Sound system is good n dance floor is good. But it is not the ideal place to hold a Bollywood party. And the physical location is also not ideal. And the place would be too cramp for 50 pax! Perhaps a more ideal place would be an air-con CC hall, within walking distance from MRT.
Regards, lydia.
Hi Terence,
Place is OK if you are inside the studio & sound system is good but going there may not be convenience in term of transport, also alot of Thai nationals. Sometime passing by the place, especially to the ladies may have a feeling of ‘unsafe’. Also the restroom is not in the studio itself. You have to get a buddy to accompany you and very smelly.

Last night, I went to Golden Mile Complex to have some beef kuay teow. After that, I went to look for Mambo Dance studio. A large squarish unit, with one corner providing the music and drinks, and another quarter with all the seats, generally laid out to accommodate groups of 4s. The dancing floor, nice wooden floor, I understand suitable for dancing and dance practices, had one side, all with glass windows. Didnt get the chance to hear the sound system work, as I was there at 7.30pm. I will likely pop over Mambo the next time I am back in Singapore.

Hi Gengha,
The idea of $20.00 per pax on a minimum of 50 pax sound good. Are we assuming this package is for a Saturday night booking?
Having $5.00 going towards the buffet mean we will be provided with finger foods, how about soft drinks? What about the cost of a DJ and the sound equipments, is it cost in the $15.00 under rental of the studio?
Dan
Hi Gengha
Nice of you to organise this gathering. The plan is very detailed and clear. I may be in S’pore around that time (live in HK) and would certainly want to join but right now, I can’t commit yet.
Just wanted to drop you a line to say hello and my interest. Will be able to decide once we have a firm date.
