Monthly Gathering – October 31,2009 (Saturday)

Dear folks,

Come October we will have a different venue for our monthly gathering. It will be another opportunity to meet new friends and catching up with fellow SHCians.

This gathering also coincide with the Flea Mart in the same venue from 1.00-7.00pm. The badminton group will have their game from 1.00-4.00pm. Depending on the responses, the mahjong session will start from 10.00am and end at 6.00pm. So folks, the facilities are booked  for you, do avail yourselves!

Venue: Safra Mount Faber – Multi-purpose Hall (Air-conditioned)

http://www.safra.sg/data/resources/images/MF%20Clubhouse/MF_getting_there.jpg

Monthly Gathering: 5.00-9.00pm

The program for the night will includes karoeke singing and impromptu line and social dancing. There is something about SHCians, most of them like to dance. It is a good form of relaxation and having fun together! Music will be played throghout the night while in some corner new friends and old will chit-chat away.

At the last gathering we have a fantastic night!. Though it was sardine-packed, we enjoyed ourselves. When most of the members left for home, there was a group of die-hard members who dance the night away when the music was played!

Those who have booked a table for the Flea mart, do indicate here whether you are staying for the Monthly Gatherings.

  1. Hi Sockie,

Enjoy yourselves and if there is a very good reason to while away the night, do so but watch out for your health, we will miss your leading the line dancing and taking photo!

    Danz4Joy!

  2. Hi Danz,

I won’t be attending the monthly gathering. Will be leaving the venue by 6.30p.m. or earlier.

BTW, I’ll be using a ‘surgeon’s mask’ – kiasu measure. lol!

  3. Hi Dan & Joy

No confirmation from you yet. Can you release the bookings

list? Need to confirm this before I move barang2 on Oct

31st. Also pls register me for the Gathering 5 to 9 pm.

    Thanks. Your help greatly appreciated.

    Kk Yeo.

Dear KK Yeo, my sincere apology how did I ever missed you. Yes, a table space reserved for you and glad you are joining us at the gathering.

  5. Hi Dan

If my applcation for leave is approved, will definitely attend this event as I had been absent at last two previous meetings of August and September due to work commitments.

    Regards

    Abel Tan

  6. Hi Abel,

Hope your leave application is okay and forward to catching up with you.

Primrose, Is your lady guest a member yet as it is a requirement.

    Dan

  7. Dan, I’m confirmed for the flea market – 2 tables. As I’ll have to be at the venue before 1 pm, I don’t know if I can tahan till 9 pm.

By the way, does the table comes with a chair? I hope so as standing from 1 pm to 7 pm can aggravate my knee problem….

    Thank you
    Ros

  8. Hi Lor si Leng,

Very kesian because of the long hours, suggest you rope in your buddies to do shift duties!

Every table booked will come with 2 chairs. In total we have 30 tables and 80 chairs on hire for this event and our gatherings.

  10. Dear SHCians,

This month gathering at Safra Mount Faber will be a different experience for all of us!. Beside the Flea Mart, the badminton players will also be in session from 1.00-5.00pm. The mahjong session will have their session too. The link to Safra Mount Faber is up for those who have not been here. Joy’s POSB account will be up for those who have booked a booth soon.

Come and give your support to fellow members who have booked their tables amd will be displaying their goodies. The book exchange tables will be run by Dan & Joy. For the first time we will have a membership booth run by Boon Liang, he need helpers to work on detail with him.

Members of the public are open to patronise our stalls. We expect a sizeable crowd as there are many activities in Safra club, there is also a singing contest being held on this day.

The hall have been booked by the hour for us, unlike the meeting at Han’s where we have to maintain a subdue tone this venue allowed us to let our hairs down and create us much noise as we possibly could.

Music will be played throughout the day and night, dance music for those in the mood to boogie and karoeke singing are also available! After the meeting, those wanting more can adjourned to the Dance Floor, the bowling lanes on the second level or plays pool or billiard or having a dip in the pool.

    Danz4Joy!

If you are wearing something special for this Halloween night, come, share and talk about it.

    Terence Seah

  37. #57 Terence,

Dear founder, is there a dress code for the 31st? You mentioned Halloween…. Aiyah! I missed your post before I went to Manila early this week. There are so many Halloween stuff sold there and cheaper than Sg too! :(

Anyway, I think if I don’t wear my getai makeup, I’m already quite scary to look at. Sorry if I don’t join in the dressing up of ghouls and vampires. :p

    Cheers,
    Ros

  38. Hi Dan #$61

You’re most welcome. No problem, I will bring LDance CDs along just in case you need it. For karaoke where is it

    Dan

  42. Hi guys!!

I’m a bit concerned looking at the number who’ve signed up: There are less than 60 at the moment and this looks like the smallest number of attendees to a monthly meeting.

Will the Flea Market have enough visitors/buyers? Is it open to other than SHC members?

I wish to encourage more members to come to support this event… it will be good to have a crowd of enthusiastic SHCs.

So, please put my name down for the meeting!

    Kenneth

  43. Hi Kenneth,

Thanks for the support and your call to fellas member to come forward, yes the number may seem small compared to other monthly meeting. The Flea mart is open to the public too. Actually if we consider other activities going at the same time, there may be more than the figure shown.

We have the Mahjong session on the same day, the badminton players will be there too. This is probably the first time that we have rented the premises for our member to attend. All the more we hope for our members’ understanding to make it a success.

The following are coming for the mahjong session and we hope they will come to join the meeting after their game:
Jonson Tan, Cat yeo, Frisna, Kim leong. Agnes Tan, Eileen Thean, Freda Lim, Shirley Wee, Jane Ong, Doreen Ng and learners Susan Tan and Hilda Chan still need two more kakis to start their game.

It may be that time of the year where most are on holidays, but we really need more participation from members.

    Dan & Joy

  44. Hi Richard and Jane,

Thanks for supporting the gatherimg and taking a stall at the flea mart. What have you in mind for display?

Payment has to be done at Joy’s Posb account. Appreciate your kind understanding!

Admin, managed to edit from my desktop, thanks for your kind assistance.

    Dan & Joy

  45. Hi admin,

Cannot do posting on the Flea Mart update, help!

    Hi Jacqueline,

We understand the predicament you are in.
Here a suggestion, how about I booked a stall for you and you let us try to sell off all your barang2. We get 30% and you get 70% of the items sold. All profit we earned goes toward defraying our cost of hiring the chairs and tables for our coming gathering, sound good?

    Dan & Joy

  46. This message is removed from a new post –

    Hi Dan & Joy

Quite some barang2 to lelong. Need 2 tables instead of one previously

booked. Pls provide Acct Nbr and $40 will be remitted today.

    Thanks

    Dear Dan & Joy,

I would like to come for the gathering around 5pm, however I do not know the way there. Can someone meet me somewhere and lead me there.

    Jayne

  50. Hi Richard and Jane Kee,

Thanks for the payment, what an apt name ‘The White Elephant’. Just wondering what ‘white elephant’ some of us can pull along to the bazaar, interesting!

Hi Jayne Ho, are you a newbie? Glad you can join us. What part of town you coming from? Let’s see if any one able to pick you from the Tiong Bahru or Harbourfront MRT. Please check the link provided and see whether it of help.

    Dan & Joy

  51. Jayne Ho says:

    Hi Dan & Joy,

Yea, this is the first time joining you all.I’m coming from Admirality. It’s ok for me to meet @ either one of the MRT stations @ 5pm. My email : see_jah@yahoo.com.sg

  52. Hi Dan

I do have quite a few barang barang to clear so if I were to book a table for the flea mart, can I enlist my sister and nephew to help look after my store while I run around to take photos for the event huh?

I need my sis to cart my stuff there and my nephew is very excited and he wants to help in running the store, so I’d better get clearnace with you first before I make any commitment to the little fellow as I do not want to break any rules and regulation.

Failing that, do you have spare resources to give me a hand in this?

I would probably be half alseep after my night out on Friday but I will surely make an effort to get myself there on Saturday ;0)

    Sockie

  53. Hi Jayne Ho,

Did you get to check the connecting buses from either of the MRT stations. Can any kind soul help to direct Jayne to Safra Mount Faber?

    Dan & Joy

  54. Hi Dan & Joy,

I’ll be there checking out the “Flea Market”, and maybe joining Susan Tan & Hilda Chan (#69) at MJ if they’re still
short of kaki but I have to stop @ 6pm for Dinner appt.

    Cheers,
    Constance

  55. Thanks Daisy,

Your help is sorely needed here too, now I can breath a little better, thank you!

    Hi Constance,

Susan Tan & Hilda Chan and you is still short of one kaki, anyone keen to join them?

    Dan

  56. Hi Dan

I posted a couple of comments last week but realised that my posts have disappeared from your list of comments above. Is there a technical problem? In my last post, I asked if I could have a 4’by 2’table and if it comes with table cloth and 2 chairs. Not sure if received it. I would also like to know if I can have my sis and little nephew help look after my stall. Then I can look around and make friends :)Thanks!

  57. Hi Evelyn,

Yes, you could have a 4×2 feet table but no table cloth. Safra provide only ten tables of 4×2 feet with table cloth which goes to the first 10 persons who signed up. As the Flea mart is open to the public you may have assistants to help you. The monthly gathering though is strictly for members only.

Jane, noted that you are not able to join us for the gatherings.

    Dan & Joy

  58. Hi Evelyn Chong,

#90 Think I know why your comments goes missing, could you have done on the old post.

Rene Leong,Kristin Leong and King Seng, glad to have all your support for the gathering!

    See yoo folks!

    Danz4Joy!

  59. Thanks Hamidah for roping in Karen Wong & Pharis to support the gathering.

Hi Karen and Pharis, we are meeting again since the last ‘soo kee’ lunch at Chin Chin.

See you folks and dun forget your name tags!

    Dan & Joy

  60. Hi everyone

I did not pay much attention to that magic plant for diabetes because I do not suffer from it.

However I have a dear friend who has this diabetes problem so can anyone help by telling me what is the name of the GS plant?

    Thanks very much
