Start the new year with a hearty laugh – hahahahahahah
Folks – Have a wonderful new year filled with laughter.
During the one day JB day trip, several members who remembered that I was the EC for a laughter exercise, asked me – Is the laughter exercise held every Tuesday at Hort Park, still on-going? YES – it is, but the venue has recently changed. I’m putting up this post for those who are interested:
Venue: Singapore Botanic Gardens.
Date and time: Every Tuesdays, 6.30pm to 7.00pm
Laughter exercise spot: A stone’s throw from the MAIN ENTRANCE GATE.
Walk to the Green Pavilion. There is a patch of nicely lawned grass. This is it.
FAQs:
What to wear: Wear light, loose-fitting clothes, and flatties.
Suitable for whom: young or old, men or women, short or tall, fat or thin. Especially suitable for people who would like to de-stress.
How to enjoy your experience: Plan to arrive at 5.30pm (optional), take a stroll to enjoy the garden. At 6.20pm, stroll toward the Green Pavilion. Ms Zaibun (the laughter exercise facilitator) starts promptly at 6.30pm. The laughter exercise ends at 7pm. You may wander off to stroll some more around the garden. Some friends take the opportunity to catch dinner together. Some who came alone, and appeared to be burdened with troubled thoughts, will smile and wave good-bye quietly. Free and easy. Really. Do as you please. No one will cajole you, preach to you about the benefits of laughter.
You will discover the benefits yourself. Give yourself a chance to find that out.
This laughter session is really “free and easy”. Literally. Free – Zaibun does this for free. Easy – The exercise is easy to follow; no registration required.
A little note here: Zaibun is a trained laughter facilitator. Big companies and organization pay big bucks to hire laughter facilitators to conduct “laughing sessions” for their employees. Their purpose is to help their employees to de-stress and thereby be happier and more productive.
For maximum benefit: remember to laugh out loud. Exhale completely, inhale fresh air… bringing oxygen to every cells…
Many participants have noticed that their well-being have improved markedly. For more information, do read the “older posts” on laughter exercise. Those posts were made by Vivian Lai, Sylvia Ang, and Jacqueline Han. Or, google for “laughter yoga” “laughter exercises”.
Should you decide to check this out, do indicate your interest here. And just in case you cannot find us, you may like to have my mobile number. Email jacqhan@gmail.com. Don’t be shy shy.
Can you feel the weight of the Cross?
As school kids, we dreaded the consequences of our parents seeing the Cross and hid it together with the cane at all costs.
Soon we will have to bear the Cross all over again, and the repercussions of where we put it.
We might choose the high comfort of living in tree houses, open our doors to the beauty and fascination of greens. And monkeys greeting us, making us feel at home in their habitats, not as unwelcome immigrants there to steal their bananas or their maids.
These original settlers will be very friendly and will teach us to swing from trees to trees, relieving us from the stress of riding in squeezed trains.
Suddenly, the Cross becomes of unparalleled beauty, a Cross even kids love to see and have. Sadly, they will need to wait and weigh in with this Cross only adults can shoulder…………
Can you feel that Spore is shaking?
People who have put up deposits have won the right to go about shaking others’ hands. But time is running out. So many will climb the stage these remaining nites, stretch their hands out to all and sundry, and shake both their hands. Their best last-minute reach out.
In tempo, they will shake their legs and gyrate their backsides. See that as a trance or some free style disco if you like but they need to leave behind an impression.
Uncles dont go to Geylang snymore. With uncle-killers roaming the streets in droves and ayeing to everything they ask, they see a chance that these obliging pretties will help them to shake.
Handsome beaus too are cooing and wooing the hearts of aunties. Nite clubs – albeit opened for only 3 hours – are spawning in every corner and lao char bors dont hv to go to Club 5 or Kovan to shake and be seen their their boobs are still firm.
13/5/2011 falls on a Friday.
The frights of Friday the 13th and May 13 are well documented. We wont know how shaken we will be beyond this date and into the future. Time will tell but for whatever the future is worth, it’s now or never to enjoy the shake.
We dont need a Mr Tan to Lead Shake. Be yourself, just shake.
Dear Jacqueline
No worries. Just keep up the laughter.
Gong Xi Fa Cai and Wan Xi Ru Yi to you and your loved ones.
Cheers

Hi Jacqueline,
I was at the laughter exercise just now. Today’s session was as enjoyable as last week’s. A young mother joined us with her 6 months old son who giggles with us too.
Thanks alot!
Hope you mum is feeling better…Wishing her a speedy recovery!
Hi Folks
I was unable to log in to make comments since Sunday. I wanted to inform everyone, that on 18 Jan Tuesday, I will not attend the laughter exercise.
My aged mother, 80 years old, had a stroke, and is in hospital right now.
I look forward to laugh with you, next Tuesday 25 Jan.
Sophia – Hi!
Last Tuesday you had missed the laughter exercise session, cuz you couldn’t find the laughter spot. Yep – you found us as we were ending our session. And yep – it was my mistake that you couldn’t find us…
Yesterday you turned up for the exercise! I was so happy to see you. Did you find that you slept better last night? Many beginners tell me that they slept better after the laughter exercise.
I trust yesterday’s session was an interesting experience? hahahaha a bunch of people from all walks of life, laughing hysterically…
Hi Lilian Teo –
It was good to see you again yesterday.
I have not seen you for ages. I think the last time was at the “lantern making/origami” session at Ghim Moh Road. Peggy and Paul Kong organized that one. I have enjoyed the “paper craft” session.
So sorry we did not manage to stroll around the garden before the laughter exercise. My apologies.
I liked your comment, “If I can still walk, I am happy”. It reminded me that “health is wealth”. Many of us tend to forget that.
Ah Dolly –
You were sporting. You laughed and you joked. But your mind seemed far away. Feeling stressed? Come. Come every Tuesday and laugh your stress away.
Next time – remember to bring mosquito repellent.
I hope that applying some of my “hong yew” onto your skin, helped to chase some mosquitoes away! hahahahah
Ah tee Huat – Actually I prefer to call you “SAM”, therefore:
Ah Tee Sam –
I’m so happy that you decide to attend the laughter exercise yesterday. And you brought Ah Dolly.
Zaibun said that you should come every Tuesday. You were such a funny person.
And I think you should come every Tuesday – it’s a good exercise for you and Dolly.
Look forward to laugh like crazy with you two.
ah jacq jie ,

Jane-W, not quite leh. It all depends on the teddy bear’s size.
Small teddy bears are for kids; big teddy bears are for daddies and I am one.
Ok, me accept og you offer of a bear hug with thanks in advance but huh, I wont let go one hor. Too late liao, you cant change yr mind now, hehe.
???????????????.
??????????????????????????????????
Thanks Tim.
teddy bear is for kid la…. I shall give u a bear hug when we meet again ….. hahaha
???????????? ????????????
Thank you Jane-W.
May 2011 be another Good Year of Joy, Peace and Fulfillment for you, that you will continue to be pretty and youthful and have Midas on your fingers.
What do I really want? Maybe a teddy bear for Xmas…….but before that, a stalk of ??? for Chinese New Year?
Hi Tim,
A Happy 2011 to u.
‘nothing else than her happiness matters’ I like this statement.
anyway never give up and we will find what we really want oneday.
Cheers.
Thank you Jac-H for yr encouragement.
Smoking is fun to me. To give it up, another fun from outside has to replace it. It’s an external force which I’ll listen to and in there will find strength and motivation.
Nothing else than her happiness matters…………
Hi Tim,
Sorry to know that Tuesdays are not good for you.
I couldn’t help but detect a note of sadness (in your response regarding Marilyn)…
I just want to let you know that –
Should you decide to quit smoking, YOU, yes YOU, have the strength within yourself to quit smoking. You do not need “external strength”, nor “external motivation”.
All the best,
Jacqueline
Greetings, Jac-H.
Thank you, I’d hv been fine if not for a (composition) fine of $300 the NEA hit me with for not putting a cigarette butt inside my butt pocket but on a flower bed.
You leh?
Marilyn………..like you, I missed her too. Think she is fine. Should be. Must be. She dislikes cigarettes and will never hold a cigarette butt for anybody.
Tuesday evenings arent good for me. Will want to fetch my gal-n-friend from her Jap class. Scoring 33/100 wasnt in keeping with our tradition but since her attitude is very positive this time, will like to boost her morale and buy her ice cream on the way back.
Btw, many are laughing today, loudest from our neighbours.
See, we just disbanded our national football team bcos of below par performance and indiscipline. We have a bunch of little boys in waiting to don national colors so no worry, haha. A corollary, we can discharge all men from the polis force bcos we hv the national cadet corp boys to take over.
Sai-no-think. That’s the name many are cheering loudly from the first week of 2011 until these boys have a full growth of hair in their armpits.
Hi Folks,
I want to tell you about a teenage girl who joined the laughter session last Tuesday, shortly after the session started.
As I knew that she was a newcomer, I observed her progress, out of the corners of my eyes.
At first, she was a bit shy, and laughed quietly. 15 minutes into the exercise, she was laughing gleefully. At the end of the session, she was relaxed and responded to curious questions in a friendly gracious manner.
She replied that, she had enjoyed herself, “you are all so nice…” And that her mother is a SHC member. Her SHC mother had asked her to attend this laughter exercise, to de-stress.
I want to compliment this SHC mother for encouraging her teenage daughter in the right direction. However, I forgot this teenager’s name. I recall that she was thin, fair, and pretty.
Hi Tim,
Long time no see! How are you?
The last time I saw you was at the 2009 September gathering held at Gillman Heights. And yes, I remember, too, your lovely companion, Marilyn. How is she?
Are you thinking of trying out the laughter exercise? Come, don’t hesitate.
Start with a burst of laughter. Then laugh till you burst and so blast away the bust. A good year beckons.
Seriously, the angmoh express laughter in different forms – a laugh, a smile, a grin, a chuckle…….There’s no small laugh, big laugh, crooked laugh, cold laugh.
The Chinese see it different. Every form of laughter must contain the word laugh (?)?
Watch Terence when he next laughs. He alternates from ?? and ??, quite unlike Sam Huat’s ??????
The blur blur ones carry a ?? on their faces, crooks ???the fallguy ??, the conceited ?? and the best laugh is ??????
It will be very interesting if all these different types of laughters are seen at a Laughters Gathering.
Hi Bobby and Sophia, One thousand apologies.
You came to Botanic Gardens to try out the laughter exercise, but could not find the laughter spot. Finally, you found us, at the end of our session.
I must apologize, again, to both of you. And thank you for pointing out that the laughter spot is named the “Green Pavilion”, and NOT the “Visitor Centre”.
To all those SHC folks who came, and could not find us – another thousand apologies.
In mitigation, I can only say that – this laughter exercise session was held at the Hort Park for the past two years. On 14 Dec 2010, we moved to Singapore Botanic Gardens. I was quite certain that the laughter spot was next to the Visitor Centre. I was mistaken.
Come – see you next Tuesday.
And just in case you can’t find the Green Pavilion – do email jacqhan@gmail.com for my mobile number. Don’t be shy shy.
Hi Terence,
Thank you. It was a fun session yesterday, as usual.
However, at the end of the session, I was rather embarrassed to find out that I had given an incorrect name for the laughter spot. I need to edit my post. I have emailed you to request for “editing mode”. I need to make changes as soon as possible.
My next “comment” will explain what happened yesterday.
Jacqueline,
It’s nice of you to organise this for SHC members. The Post was structured as an advertisement, but as you are leading the groups for members, this Post is fine. Hae fun.
Terence Seah
Ooops Folks –
In my haste, I forgot to add this paragraph into my post:
If you’d like to check this out, do indicate your interest here. Let me know which Tuesday you’ll be attending. I’ll see you at the visitor centre, and bring you to the spot.
Email to jacqhan@gmail.com, if you’d like my mobile number for quick contact. Please note – for today, this particular Tuesday, I’m leaving my home at 2pm. As such, I’ll not be reading emails sent after 2pm.
Hi Terence
I attend this exercise EVERY Tuesday, without fail. Except, when I am out of the country. I’ll not be travelling till March. Rain or shine – I’ll be there.
If you’d like to check this out, let me know, I’ll see you at the visitor centre.
Hi Jacqueline,
Which day are you attending this event?
