May Monthly Gathering, Fri 13 May 2011

Hi All,

For the coming May Monthly Gathering,(strictly for SHC registered members only) we are going to have it at a cosy function room as mentioned below:

  • Venue : Glendale Park – Tower A2, 23, Hillview Avenue, Club House
  • Date : 13 May 2011 [Friday]
  • Time : 5.00pm to 10.00pm

Agenda :

  1. Get together for  existing and new members.
  2. Games by Yat Sing / Janie Leong
  3. If time permits, some Line dancing.
  4. Other entertainment/s

(For those who are able to come much earlier, feel free to enjoy the swimming pool,jacuzzi , karaoke room(bring your own discs) and Games room for cards or mahjong games but all these activities will have to end by 6.45pm latest for the monthly gathering to commence accordingly.  Your cooperation will be much appreciated.)

Please remember to bring your SHC nametag if you have one. If not a sticky label will be provided.

Please Take Note:  There is a change of plan!  There wont be any dinner (Bento Sets) catered for this meeting.  Members will have to arrange for their own dinner. If you need to bring yr packets of dinner / food & drinks to the Club House to eat, you are most welcome.  There are 2 machines in the clubhouse one for cold drinks only & the other a tit bits machine.  However, Please clean up the place after u have eaten R drunk & throw away all rubbish in the bins provided outside the CH. Trash Bags will also be provided. 

Those who have paid up will be refunded in due time.

Directions to get there :
Buses plying along Upper Bukit Timah are No. 67, 171, 170, 184, 75, 961, 178 – Alight infront of Standard Chartered Bank.  Glendale Park is just behind Stanchart.  Follow the pathway until you reach the condo side gate.  Sneak in when someone opens the gate, otherwise continue walking down until you reach the main gate.  Look out for signage or alternatively ask Security for directions to Club House.

Buses plying infront or opposite of side gate are No. 176, 970 and 963.But you can also alight at the same bus stop as Bus:173.

Nearest MRT Stn is Bukit Batok and at Bus Interchange, board Bus 173 – It plies along Hillview Ave along the condo belt.  Watch out for MINDEF signage at the roundabout.  Alight at the bus stop before the bus makes a roundabout to go into Hume estate.  Glendale Park is situated ahead of you.

Those who are driving let the security guard know that you are attending a SHC function in the Club House hosted by Mrs Grace Wong.  Turn left after the barrier & head towrds the Basement carpark at tower A&D …then drive right towards A2 (lift lobby) to Club House.

    Thank you for organising this monthly meeting. Wow, got so much activities, ,please register me for the monthly meeting. I can either partner Daniel for tennis but I am a beginner(lousy player, so must be prepared to pick up balls more often leh. If not then also can join in for the karaoke or dancing kakis. Cheers..

Oh Yes Daniel …lots of space for yr dancing but u have to bring yr musical apparatuses…like portable sound systems etc..etc..plenty of electrical outlets for yr systems to plug into .Bring yr own dvds…I have lots of Line Dancing Dvds/cds too …hope somebody can conduct some line dancing ,it would be fun too!Any volunteers…???

  65. Just a suggestion, not sure if the IT ADMIN can address… this.. some of us missed the important note of dinner no more provided.. so was very hungry there.. (esp after a long jam just to get there)

    Is there anyway to have the important announcement of say No Dinner or last min changes just above this reply box (In Bold and RED maybe) or anyway, EO EC can send to everyone on list of last min changes…

    It is unfortunate that those who did not check the website came to the gathering without dinner even though the cancellation of the bento meal was posted as early as 4 May and the announcement was made both in the comment section (#14 & #20) as well as the main post. It wasn’t a last minute change.

    Besides, we could not have ordered the meal for you WITHOUT FIRST RECEIVING YOUR PAYMENT! Those who paid were duely refunded that evening. EO Grace Ng was already generous in paying for the rental of the club house with K-ok, tennis court and tit-bits without passing the cost to us. We couldn’t possibly expect her to provide meals on a “what if….” basis.

    Until our website has such software “in red to alert of changes”, all members are advised to check the event post for latest updates.

    We thank you for your valuable feedback and suggestion.

  68. Haha, its true Lily..that I didnt read that part about the dinner..Yes, I deserved to be spanked for that…hehehe..LOL.. I know even if Bento set is catered for, my submission is last min..so no dinner for me, its ok lah…

    Was suggesting for the future if IT Admin was able to pluck this loophole lah,,, looking at it from a system point of view… Guess the fact that many didnt know of it, though its there for a week, means we don’t read again & again the original or amended posts lo.. guess we are after all Humans…

    Anyway, glad our sweet Host Grace took it very well.. what with her charming smile that put a lot of us at ease…guess she is not called Grace for nothing… Cheers..

    AND YES, thanks to Grace again for paying for the rental..and tit bits..to help fill some of our empty tummies… Have a good weekend…

    I am afraid I do not understand your logic in wanting to change the posting system through IT Admin.
    It will involve the re-programming the computer programs which may be costly and may not be justifiable.
    I am not sure that many had not read the amended post and the comments, though they were there for a week.
    If one is interested in a event he/she should make an effort to keep himself/herself updated. The fact that we are humans does not give us the excuse to be sloppy.

    I was indeed very deeply troubled by your reply last nite.. In my reply to Mrs Lily Ho Willocq, I’ve already admitted my folly. Was not blaming anyone but ourselves in my self-depracating reply. But was looking for an improved way for the group. Don’t we need to continually improve?

    It would have been great if non emotionally-charged words are used..especially in a public forum like this.. with members and even potential members reading it.. As a qualified Therapist, I have seen many relationships and Marriages fail – cos of words that could have been better used.

    In the meantime, I will continually reflect upon your words, my friend for the next 5 years and REPENT and ensure I read all postings in full ……as my Penance.
